My dad and I stayed here during the World Cup, so we knew that we would be paying an exorbitant amount no matter where we booked. Pousada Suites do Pelo was definitely not worth what we payed for, but I can't speak to the hotel's value during the average tourist season. That being said, the staff was very friendly, spoke English (we're American, so that was helpful), and provided us with useful information and tips about the neighborhood. It was clear that the hotel was in the process of revamping, with rooms still being painted as well as other signs of transition. The room we stayed in (a double) was clean, air conditioned, and had a TV. One of the pipes above the toilet came off when I pulled down on the flush, but it was an easy fix (and also speaks to the "in transition" feel during our stay). The breakfast in the morning was simple yet sufficient, with a variety of fruit, bread, and meat. But what really makes Pousada stand out is its convenient location. It is only a few short blocks away from the town center (albeit a uphill climb), where all of the action is. Pelourinho is the cultural center of the city, and it's where most of the main attractions are located. My dad and I were a bit wary of Salvador, as it has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous cities in Brazil, but we felt completely safe throughout our stay (in both the hotel and the neighborhood). If you're looking for luxury, don't stay here, but if you're looking for simple and clean accommodations, friendly staff, and a great location, I would recommend it!
