We were very pleasantly surprised by this beautiful, charming hotel. While we were disappointed that we hadn’t booked a room with a view, there were opportunities to enjoy the stellar views from the dining room where we enjoyed a top notch breakfast and from the patio where we enjoyed a glass if wine while overlooking the beautiful Santa Luzia church and the vast Portuguese coastline.|I swam in the pool. It was perfect and so refreshing and there is also a beautiful view there.|We walked down the hill to the church and then took the tram down into the town to explore. We also took it back up.|Highly recommend this hotel!

An amazing place sitting atop a hill overlooking Viano do Castello and the Basilica of Santa Lucia. The staff are super friendly and the service is second to none. The coastal views are out of this world. The swimming pool is in a lovely quiet garden overlooking the town and it's great to relax with a book......

Booked this place for my girlfriends birthday and asked them to prepare something in the room. For just a little extra they prepared something really nice. Also the view was amazing. Thank you!

We chose to visit Viana Do Castello because we saw a picture of the view from the Special Suite at this hotel, Room 107. It was as amazing as we had hoped and we are so glad we stayed here. We have stayed in some tremendous places, but this suite is among the best ever, because of the immense Patio that is probably 25 or 30 feet long with that unbelievable view. Really Huge. With 4 sets of French doors opening up on it; 3 in the living room and 1 in the bedroom. The suite was also huge and well equipped. This is an historic hotel and it is old, so don’t expect modern or everything to be pristine (some of the carpets in the hallway are stained). It is not a full service resort- there is not a doorman waiting to open the door and take your luggage. But don’t look at it’s shortcomings, it is an amazing place. They have a great restaurant, awesome breakfast, full bar, and beautiful public spaces. I advise you: DO NOT get a room without a view. To us, the whole point is the view. I’m not sure if there is more than 1 special suite but only room 107 has the huge balcony.

Employees atbthe reception and the restaurant are lovely. Nice building but room are outdated ( very old bathrooms, lots of basics missing) . But most of all : hotel is accepting cars of groups ( not one but many). Table booked at the restaurant but impossible to have diner because of the noise. Wake up at 7:15 because groups are screaming on the the terrasse, when you re paying more than 300 euros a night the minimum you re looking for is to have a good night. Mail to manager…no reaction at all received from him. For individuals there are much better hotels in town.

We recently stayed at this lovely hotel and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The hotel staff were all so warm, welcoming and helpful. The hotel had such a wonderful feeling to it. The view from our room, as pictured, was absolutely magnificent and the whole area surrounding the hotel was fantastic to walk around as was the town in general. It was easy to get down to the main part of the old town walking or via taxi/car. It's very special part of the world and I look forward to returning already.

What an amazing experience! We had a wonderful 24 hours here and the views and service and quality of food were fantastic. Arsenio and his staff looked after us so well. We really appreciated the old world charm and the vistas were magical.

The location is outstanding and it offers breathtaking views of the landscape and Viana do Castelo! The staff is just perfect and always helpful. I strongly recommend booking it with breakfast because the food and the view are worth it. The reason for the 4 stars is only because the rooms and interior need a bit of renewal work which is understandable since it is an historic building.
