Pousada Vila do Beco

Stayed here for three nights with family and friends. Despite it being a bank holiday, the room rates were reasonable.||The good:||Location is perfect for the nightlife and restaurants but so quiet at the same time that you don’t believe the village is round the corner. It’s a bit of a walk down to the beach and the climb back is a bit of a challenge in the heat. ||The Mucuge beach is a bit busy with a lot of beach restaurants but we walked towards Pitinga beach and it was much quieter and nicer. Parador 7 was our favourite place to eat and drink - see my separate reviews on them.||Inn’s buildings and rooms are charming, with wood, hammocks, fruit trees, birds etc and swimming pool is lovely. View of the coast is spectacular. ||Our bedroom was very spacious and clean, it had great storage too. We were close to the pool area which was very quiet at night.||Front desk staff very helpful and kind. Housekeeping very efficient too.||The ‘need to improve’:||Pool area: more umbrellas and sun loungers needed, there aren’t enough. Despite having some nice wooden tables and chairs, the majority are plastic tables and chairs give the place a ‘cheap look’.||Breakfast: poor selection, a bit repetitive, servers not very proactive, quality of some products not great. ||This place has potential with a few adjustments it could be wonderful.

We had the cheapest room and it was great. Simple, but very spacious, with two floors and a hammock on the balcony which overlooked the stunning gardens of the place. the pool is huge with sea views. Fantastic location - a minute from the main eating and drinking area, and not too noisy at night considering. The breakfast was typical - cheese, ham, fruit, eggs, coffee. We wold return.

Stayed here 4 nights in May. Rate was reasonable. Room was good, comfortable and clean. Wi-fi near breakfast room was good. Breakfast was great. They keep fresh coffee, tea, and cakes/ biscuits going all day after breakfast. Staff were helpful. Is located close to town (50 metres or less) . Has swimming pool.(with bar). Grounds are lush (and neat)

Love this pousada, has great rooms with comfy beds, air conditioning and mini fridges!! The wifi works well at the commun areas and inside the room. The breakfast is quite nice, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The is free transportation to the beaches near by until 11 am. The pool for me is the best part where you have the best view to the ocean. It is a good place to relax and recharge your battery!!

This hotel is located in a small street just in the main street of the center of Arraial, at a 10-minute walk from the beach.||The rooms are ok, quite big and clean. The rooms in the top floor (2nd) had a terrace with hammock. The fridge was noisy but just needed to unplug it.||The best of all is the swimming pool and the area around. We were in the low season so it was almost a private area for us||It is definetaly not a 5 star hotel but it has lot of style.

Arraial d'Ajuda is a very pretty village close to Porto Seguro, plenty of nice shops, bars and restaurants, people who visits Arraial are mainly families, but also young groups of guys, looking for relaxation on the beach and bustling nightlife.||The second half of July is winter time, but it is considered high season, due to closure of schools in Brasil. They call it "Verãozinho", the temperature is between 19° at night and could reach 30° in sunny days.||Every night there is a small market-place in the square at the entrance of Rua do Mucugê, with hawkers selling local crafts and hand-made items. ||||We spent a couple of niths at Vila do Beco, the location is excellent, in the centre of Arraial, very calm and tranquil, with a nice garden and a beautiful pool with spectacular view...||||The good:||- Location: in a narrow lane, a few steps from Rua Mucugé, but very quiet||- Garden: surrounded by tropical plants and trees like Eugenia and mango trees||- Swimming-pool: clean and wide, set on a panoramic terrace with terrific view of the Atlantic Ocean ||- Staff: attentive||- Value for money||||The Bad:||- Room: good size but with mold smell, without any decoration, you can't watch TV from the beds, as it is located beside the beds and not in front. Bathroom sink was full of hair of previous guests, water dindn't flow down.||- Breakfast: really poor (1 type of ham, 1 type of cheese, 2 types of cakes, 2 fruit juices, Coffee and milk...) That's all.||- Breakfast time: starts too late (from 08:00am to 10:00am), if you've planned to go on tour before 08:00 you have to miss breakfast.||- Wi-fi: only works close to the reception area, if you have a room a bit far, it doesn't work.||||If you are looking for a luxury stay, than this is not for you; while if you don't care about the room and you just wish to enjoy the pool the surroundings and breathtaking views, than it's OK.

We stayed in the cheapest option rooms which were fan cooled (although this wasn't needed during our stay), the room was simply furnished and the bed was changed every 3 days and the towels every 2 days. The room was cleaned every day. Mossie nets were over each bed and there was a fridge in our room although they said in the list of 'rules' that you must pay if you stored your own drinks in there! The only thing I didn't like was the room wasn't sealed from the outside and a rat ran along our roof beams in the ceiling one night! However to be fair, it was clearly stated on the website that the cheaper rooms were not fully enclosed due to thatched rooves. ||||Breakfast was good- range of pastries and cakes, plus fruit, coffee tea etc. There were also a couple of hot offerings each morning, however they used to top these up in small amounts so they went pretty quick- no real prob just an observation!||||The pousada was well located for the bars and restaurants- less than a 2 min walk and not too noisy although distant music could be heard.||||15 min walk to the beach and possible to walk a long way onto the neighbouring beaches which was nice.||||We really enjoyed our stay in Arrial at this pousada-if I had the budget I would have stayed in an a/c room which wouldn't have been accessible to rats!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this pousada. The location could not be better for us. ||A few remarks though:||- there is only soap in the room, so don't forget to bring your shampoo|- the swimming pool is not lit at night which is a shame|- there was a quite noisy children's party at the pool on sunday afternoon.
