This is exactly what we were looking for. A quiet place in a gorgeous setting, close to the beach to recharge our batteries. What an amazing value for your money you get here at Vila Tropicale! I was skeptical before we arrived, due to the low price. I thought something must be wrong but everything exceeded my expectations! Huge, clean room, nice, hot shower, air conditioning (necessary in hot Salvador), comfortable bed, flat screen TV, fast WiFi, and even a small fridge to keep drinks cold!! The breakfast is amazing (eggs, local specialties like cake made with manioc and real coffee) and is served outdoors on their nice little patio. They have a beautiful pool which we didn't use as it was being cleaned while we were there but it looked really tempting and we will have to return one day to try it out! The best part about Vila Tropicale isn't the pool though or the great room or breakfast. The owner of Vila Tropicale is a kind, friendly man who will help you out. He gives excellent customer service, something that is really lacking in beautiful Brazil. He's always willing to help with anything you need, give advice or just have a chat.||||The pousada is a bit out of the main drag in Itapua but that just makes it all the more quiet. The neighborhood is very secure and guarded, so we felt safe even walking at night. There are some restaurants in walking distance (one with some amazing moquecas). The beach is ONE block away and we lucked out because we had no idea what the beaches might be like in Itapua (we originally wanted to go to Praia do Forte but was out of our budget) and we were delighted! The beaches here have a rough surf (great for surfers) and a gorgeous natural setting. It was too rough for me to swim but there are some nice tide pools for wading which was perfect for me. No crowds! We loved it. There is one restaurant nearby called Bora Bora and you can put your feet in the sand while sipping your caiprinha and enjoying the stunning beach. Itapua is close to the airport so it makes a good choice if you are flying in and want someplace close to a nice beach that's quiet. If you want to trek into the main city in Salvador, access is easy (yet long) by bus.||||Vila Tropicale gets the most bang for you buck and makes you feel like you are at a fancy resort on budget prices. If you are looking for a seaside getaway with uncrowded, beautiful beaches and the ability to return to a spacious room in a quiet, paradise-like setting, do not hesitate to stay at Vila Tropicale!
