This was my first time in Viseu and I thoroughly enjoyed the town. It is very walkable and there is beautiful ar literature to see. There were many cafes and a nice mix of people, very relaxed vibe. We stayed at Pousada Viseu and it was a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The staff were super friendly abd helpful. Our crooks were large and comfortable and quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious and great service. The outdoor pool was cold but actually refreshing, we loved it. Breakfast was also nice with a good selection of breakfast items. The hotel is located right in downtown so it's easy and convenient for walking. Overall we had a perfect experience and are looking forward to returning.

We visited as part of a Titan tour group. Absolutely loved it. Ver imposing outside, very spacious and smart inside. Our room - 307 - was magnificent. A suite with huge bed, separate bathrooms, lounge area and foyer area, even two very large TV's much in English. All great. Breakfast very good indeed, dinner also good but sadly a little expensive. Very useful excellent supermarket just across the road at the rear of the building. Excellent location, staff good and efficient although they could be a little more cheerful and friendly.|Huge lounge area leading off from this are the restaurants and also to the gardens and pool, gardens not over large but pleasant, pool is very good indeed with loungers. Only disappointment was the indoor pool which was very small and very shallow, and you need to book in advance to use it, as a result no-one at all was ever seen using it. Best to give this a complete miss.|Overall we were very happy there and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Great welcome. Fabulous room on the 4th floor with great views. Atmospheric conversion of 19th century hospital. Let down by the restaurant: sterile atmosphere and the head waiter’s attitude needs some attention. We’ve stayed in many pousadas and this was disappointing. The good news: town centre restaurants nearby!

My room was OK, not great, too loud because of traffic and bad insulation, and I had laminated floors that made crunching noises. I asked for a quiet room, but was told that all rooms were to the streets, which is not true. ||Service could therefore be much better, also much more welcoming.||Breakfast was very good, except for terrible coffee, which is very unusual in Portugal.

Although the hotel photos looked promising, you can never be sure with some of the Pousadas in Portugal. However the Pousada Viseu was very good. Staff were helpful and the hotel which is in a converted derelict hospital is massive but has only 84 rooms.||Our superior room (not much more expensive than a standard when we booked) was huge with a massive bed, lots of storage space, a big bathroom with a bath and a separate walk in shower, plus a terrace overlooking the town and the outdoor pool.||There is a spa with small indoor pool and gym and the restaurant serves above standard food at reasonable prices. Viseu is a nice city of about 100,000 people but the old town which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel has plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and historic sights.||Well worth a couple of days stay or overnight on the way to Porto and the north of the country if travelling from Lisbon.

This hotel is solid platinum, the staff and I truly mean all are outstanding.||I recently felt ill on a coach tour, the night supervisor called an ambulance at 2 a.m and ensured I got to the hospital to receive medical treatment.||The housekeeping team had to deal with all the gruesomely horrid emissions from my body - nothing phased them, nothing was too much trouble!!||The food and beverage team looked after me like I was some kind of ageing superstar, from suggesting adaptations to menus to make food gentler on my stomach; to then getting the old fella back his room - what more could you ever ask for ??||Now see why have given them all the Jim Rae Platinum award.

A clean hotel in a historic building (it was a 19th century hospital). Rooms are spacious and air conditioned. Outside pool is not heated so can be a shock to the system but all the facilities you want are available.

Very good hotel (Pousada). Great location in Viseu. Indoor pool a little cold, outside side pool great. Food very good, breakfast and lots of choice. Service was a little slow at times, but most staff friendly. Defined worth a stay. We were there for 3 nights.

Yelp
Absolutely the nicest hotel in Europe that I've ever stayed in. It's a converted hospital from the 1700s and it's gorgeous inside. Guests can use the spa with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and lounge area. The indoor pool and gym is really nice too. The beds are divine- California King size with luxurious linens and down comforters. Huge suites with wood trim and private balconies. Gigantic bathrooms with separate tub and shower. Luxury and refinement at its best. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel in a remodeled hospital. Pampered experience on a budget. The room are almost Ritz quality with wood and marble, large balconies. Great spa and friendly staff. A wonderful place to stay (hotel only - we don't recommend the restaurant).
