Pousada Viseu

We stayed at this hotel for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The building itself is beautiful and full of history. It has a very cozy atmosphere and a unique character, not like a typical hotel. The location is great right in the center and only about a 10-minute walk to the historical old town. Another big advantage is the private parking, which is very convenient. The hotel is part of the Pestana Group, and as members we received a 15% discount when booking it’s a very pleasant bonus. Breakfast was not very varied, but everything was fresh and tasty. We also had dinner at the hotel and were very satisfied. By the way, the dinner for two (four dishes in total) cost €39, while on the booking website the dinner option was listed for €80 so it’s worth checking this directly at the hotel. Our room for three people was very spacious and, most importantly, exceptionally clean. The only small downside was that the pillows were not very comfortable, but this is quite common in many hotels. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we were very pleased and would happily return again.

The hotel is good one in a spacious renew building. The problem is with some of the workers, in the spa not controling and giving the dresses and shoes for the moment. But in the breakfast the control of the happenings was very poor, if some people disturb the others, even standing up in middle of the area and tables, no one made nothing, the waiter was a woman and very incompetent at this way on last 26 december morning. For the important days in christmas is like was no boss for the quality and happenings.

Directions to the pousada are easy to follow and there’s plenty of parking although it’s made clear the lower level is not under camera surveillance. Check-in was quick and easy and after a stay elsewhere in a regular hotel room we certainly appreciated the larger space in the Pousada classic double room. The beds and bedding felt luxurious and we slept really well in a room that was quiet despite the urban setting. Both bathroom and bedroom were spotlessly clean. We were also pleased that when the room was serviced, just what we asked for was done i.e. towels left hung-up were not replaced as has happened elsewhere. The large common area in the courtyard is a bonus shared space plus an upstairs lounge at the front of the hotel. We opted to skip paying for breakfast as we’re light eaters in the morning and a coffee or a snack are easy to find close by as it’s a short walk into the town centre. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay here with a Newmarket Holidays group. It is a traditional slightly old fashioned, but charming hotel. Very comfortable room and well appointed bedroom and bathroom. The room looked out over the main street towards the palace. The window in the room was very small, but as we were only there a couple of days and we were out sightseeing most of the time it didn't bother us. |The bar area was small with insufficient seating for everyone and we had to go outside and cross the main street for our evening meals. This would have been unpleasant if there was rain.|Clean well cared for. Quiet room.

Very nice building with good facilities. Decided to upgrade to mezzanine suite described as soundproofed rooms however the corner room assigned was affected by traffic noise from two sides. Cleaned cobwebs off windowsill. Upgrade fee was thankfully refunded. Helpful desk staff. Dinner was pricey and oversalted.

This was my first time in Viseu and I thoroughly enjoyed the town. It is very walkable and there is beautiful ar literature to see. There were many cafes and a nice mix of people, very relaxed vibe. We stayed at Pousada Viseu and it was a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The staff were super friendly abd helpful. Our crooks were large and comfortable and quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious and great service. The outdoor pool was cold but actually refreshing, we loved it. Breakfast was also nice with a good selection of breakfast items. The hotel is located right in downtown so it's easy and convenient for walking. Overall we had a perfect experience and are looking forward to returning.

We visited as part of a Titan tour group. Absolutely loved it. Ver imposing outside, very spacious and smart inside. Our room - 307 - was magnificent. A suite with huge bed, separate bathrooms, lounge area and foyer area, even two very large TV's much in English. All great. Breakfast very good indeed, dinner also good but sadly a little expensive. Very useful excellent supermarket just across the road at the rear of the building. Excellent location, staff good and efficient although they could be a little more cheerful and friendly.|Huge lounge area leading off from this are the restaurants and also to the gardens and pool, gardens not over large but pleasant, pool is very good indeed with loungers. Only disappointment was the indoor pool which was very small and very shallow, and you need to book in advance to use it, as a result no-one at all was ever seen using it. Best to give this a complete miss.|Overall we were very happy there and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Nice hotel, good location, good food. We really liked our stay, the staff was very helpful - especially the girl at the reception Catarina, she explain us everything, gave us good tips for trips.

Absolutely the nicest hotel in Europe that I've ever stayed in. It's a converted hospital from the 1700s and it's gorgeous inside. Guests can use the spa with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and lounge area. The indoor pool and gym is really nice too. The beds are divine- California King size with luxurious linens and down comforters. Huge suites with wood trim and private balconies. Gigantic bathrooms with separate tub and shower. Luxury and refinement at its best. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing!

Fantastic hotel in a remodeled hospital. Pampered experience on a budget. The room are almost Ritz quality with wood and marble, large balconies. Great spa and friendly staff. A wonderful place to stay (hotel only - we don't recommend the restaurant).
