On the evening of the 25 April, My son in law and daughter, took us to dinner at the Powerhouse restaurant. The service was excellent and the ambiance and decor great. However, for a restaurant at the high end of the price range, the food was a big disappointment. The steaks were tough, I saw my daughter spitting out pieces of her steak, and I had to chew a lot. these were not aged steaks. The Ju wine source had no flavor at all. The few leaves of spinach salad with the steak, could have been livened up with some tomatoes or at least some other garnish. The French fries were however excellent. My wife's fish course was very tasty, but the portion size looked far mor for a starter dish, not a mains. The worst and to me totally unacceptable, was the food was served on cold plates. So the food quickly got cold. This just leaves a bad taste in the mouth, pun intended, when you are paying close to $100 per plate. My son in law owns/works for a well known construction and engineering firm in Tamworth and Gunnedah, and I think they were a bit embarrassed. I hope you will find this crit useful/informative.
