I realize that in France a certain amount of attitude is expected -and accepted- in the service industry. However, this is Prada, home to gorgeous things, the items that dreams are made of, a happy place, and no mater how expensive I have never encountered a unprofessional member of staff. Until today, at the Prada shop on Paris's most expensive and stylish street of Avenue Montaigne.
We walked in, credit cards in hand ready to shop and do serious damage. We had saved the best for last on our shopping jaunt, and knew new season's items had just arrived. We were ready to blow the bank and max out the credit cads. Except... we waited and waited and WAITED for someone to help us so that we could start spending money. We stood there, 2 of us, with our designer bags and looking stylish, and we were ignored. After close to 15 minutes, we politely, and in French, asked for assistance from one of the boutique staff. Not only were we rudely blown off, but we got severe attitude and a scowl from the shop girl. We were nearly out the door when another assistant finally asked us if he could help, but after our initial inquiry about a purse he didn't seem to know anything about his own product and proved to be useless. We left having wasted 25 minutes and buying absolutely nothing.
I love the Prada brand, that is not the problem, But buy it in any other European city but Paris. London and Milan being your best bet.
