On the Grid : PRADA

"You don’t have to be a Prada fan to enjoy this store. Many people visit solely for the purpose of seeing the building, which was built by Swiss architectural firm, Herzog & de Meuron, in 2003. It is absolutely stunning - inside and out." - Misa Matsuda Maraun

Minamiaoyama District and Shopping Street If you’re interested in architecture, you simply can’t skip the Minamiaoyama district in Tokyo. One architectural highlight follows the next — it’s honestly a paradise for anyone who loves design. The Prada Aoyama store by Herzog & de Meuron was especially impressive. What a piece of work from 2003 — a crystalline glass tower that still feels ahead of its time. And there’s more: iconic buildings by Miu Miu, Yoku Moku, Stella McCartney, Minotti, Loewe, and others. All within walking distance. I can really recommend taking a stroll through this area and along the street, just letting the architecture sink in. It’s a wonderful neighbourhood that makes every design lover’s heart light up.

Visited this gorgeous location for the "Satellites" exhibition. The way I spent two hours basking in the conversation with Nicolas Rein & Hideo Kojima. The lovely staff member was king enough to give me a casket tape since he seen how much I enjoyed the exhibit. Overall, store it's is beautiful with great architecture and design. I didn't get a chance to check out every floor, but throughly loved my visit.

I visited on a late Saturday afternoon and had an appointment scheduled ahead of time to inquire about a bag repair. Although when I arrived, I still needed to wait. I was fine since I had spare time, but I didn’t like the fact I had made an appointment but still waited. The workers who did help me though were very kind and helpful with informing me about my bag’s condition and how long it’d take, price for repair, etc. The one thing that did bug me the most though was that I couldn’t help but feel “left out” as everyone else who entered the store was offered one. I hope to receive better service in the future.

Beautiful store with great architecture and design. The store is nicely decorated and nearly organized. There are sitting area for tired shoppers. The building is so beautiful that even if you are not a Prada fan, still worth to check out the architecture.

One of the most complex construction sites in Japan, the entire structure of this building makes the whole place. Herzog & de Meuron, one of the most notable architecture studios in the world, faced this building design with remarkable skill. Go inside and enjoy a casual walk through the interior of this place. It's truly worth the visit

The building design is beautiful and unique, but the experience inside was disappointing. One young short-haired saleswoman was very cold and unfriendly, simply because we were browsing instead of immediately buying something. On the 3rd floor, there was also a strong chemical smell from the renovation, which made it very uncomfortable and unhealthy to stay. When we mentioned it to the staff, she only replied with “oh.” Really not the kind of service you would expect from Prada.

Google
Beautiful store inside and outside but it takes a long time to shop here as it seems like it’s hard to find products here in the shop, making the shopping experience slow and draggy. I would prefer to shop at the Prada Ginza shop and the Miu Miu shop across the road is so much faster and efficient!

Very interesting shop concept. Staff were superbly friendly and attentive.
