Praia da Arrifana

A true surfer's paradise, nestled between two large black cliffs, this superb beach stretches for nearly 400 meters, like a cove whose size has been endlessly extended. It nonetheless remains narrow, wedged between the waves lapping at it and a large cliff, closed off by a large stone spire. It's a favorite spot for locals to sunbathe and an exceptional spot reserved for very experienced surfers. On the heights, the ruins of the Arrifana fort offer a breathtaking and unforgettable view. A magical beach !

Very nice beach! Stunning views from the cliffs! Excellent spot for surfers. On the top nice bars and restaurants.

Beautiful beach! Lots of surfing here and surf camps. Parking lot was 50% full at 10am but full at 1130am when we got back to car. However there is lots of street parking!

A very nice place with a nice beach, surfers, nice life music at night and lower temperatures then in the Algarve.

Great surf beach for all levels. Hike to get up and down.

Lovely beach with regular small waves when we were there, great for learning to surf as you can see in the video. Lots of accommodation for surfers within 5 minutes walk of the water and lots of young surfers there. We met a group of German youngsters (20s) who made us a coffee, when we mistook their accommodation for a cafe, and let us sit on their verandah while we drank it! (Danke) The top of the cliff, with a fantastic view, was also being used for sketching on our arrival.

18-04-19 Great place to catch some waves, chill in local cafes and view the landscape from the view point at the top of the hill. Can be a tricky walk down to surf, with board, if you don't have a 4x4 and it's wet or raining. High tide brings water up to the rocks so barefoot is difficult. Update 27-10-19 We came back for some more surfing! Was all as expected.
