Precious Heritage Museum is a hidden gem in Hoi An. The stunning portraits, traditional costumes, and stories of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups are beautifully presented and very moving. I especially enjoyed watching the video of Réhahn’s journey into remote mountain villages—taking time to build relationships so people felt comfortable before he photographed them. Admission is free, but the experience feels priceless. Unlike many museums, this one feels very personal, almost like walking through the photographer’s own journey across Vietnam. It’s inspiring, humbling, and unforgettable. An inspiring and memorable stop that I’d highly recommend.

beautiful museum, one of the best places during our trip! and meeting the artist himself who was there by chance was also great! recommend when visiting hoi an, you can spend quite a long time there reading about all the ethnic minorities and watching the film that’s constantly running

My favorite activity during all of my 10 day stay in Hoi An was by far coming to this gem of a place, which I was so lucky to stumble upon. If you’re at all interested in the various ethnic groups and their villages throughout Vietnam this is a place that will provide rich clarity of their history, evolution and customs in an extraordinary way. Everything is presented through the eyes of a curious French photographer that stumbled upon some of the ethnic groups years ago during his early motorbike travels in Northern VN. He befriended some of the groups early on and ultimately reached out and met every single ethnic group in VN, some who are so remote and removed they rarely see anyone outside their tribe. He took pictures, learned the unique characteristics and customs for each group and in many cases had been gifted clothing that are now on display there. There is an incredible film that plays on loop that runs maybe 45 mins but some people seem to hang out there and continue loop after loop - like me :) because it’s just that interesting. He has books and prints of his photos for sale there. The photos are stunning and iconic. If you’re been fortunate enough to do the Ha Giang Loop, this museum is a must see. It’ll probably help to answer so many questions. And even if you haven’t, it’s so worthwhile, so rich. I believe it’s free to enter ( but please double check before you go!) 1000% recommend!

This place is a gem. I seriously recommend it if you're interested in Vietnamese people and their history and culture. I've been in Vietnam for many years, and it really caught my eye. Knowing about the different ethnic groups, along with something unique for each one of them, and following Réhanh work along the way was stunning. Seeing him connect with the people, knowing their history and environment, is inspiring. I'll definitely buy the book when I'll back in Saigon.

A Hidden Cultural Treasure We stumbled upon this small museum by chance, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The project showcased here is a profound tribute to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, capturing their traditions, expressions, and spirit through deeply moving photography. Every portrait reflects the photographer’s refined eye and emotional connection—his taste for photography is present in every detail, turning images into powerful stories. The sincerity of the people, the beauty of their culture, and the touching stories behind each photo moved me to tears. His work is not only deeply respected by local communities, but also offers invaluable insight for foreigners. Through his art and vision, we gain meaningful knowledge about Vietnam’s diverse heritage—something no guidebook can offer. A true hidden gem that speaks to the heart.

I didn't know I needed to visit this place until I did, and now I want everyone to experience it. The Precious Heritage Art Gallery completely drew me in. I promised myself I wouldn't stopped to read every plaque… but ended up reading them all, and admiring everything. It's a deeply enriching and beautiful, curated collection that tells powerful stories through traditional clothing and spectacular photography. An absolute must visit.

Everyone should check out this place of wonder! This is such admirable work done by the photographer, who took ten years to document the remaining tribes of Vietnam, through treacherous terrains, hours of walking then sometimes only staying for a few minutes because of strict authorities. Meanwhile, he does his best to learn the people's stories and give back to his subjects in the process through gifts of their liking, like boats, carabaos, or copies of the photographs he took of them and the books he made! In the museum, you'll see the different traditional clothing the 54 tribes wear, and the stories behind how he obtained them-- some given as gifts, some bought-- and the context of these garments, like when they are worn and what for. There is a wonderful poem he wrote about why we preserve things through photographs and collections, placed on the pillars of the second floor, which brought me to tears. Amazing gallery!
