It would be helpful for the store to conduct more intensive research of their pieces, in order to price, communicate and market more fairly and intentionally to customers. I was about to purchase and wear out a skirt here, and they discovered through my own research that the skirt was at a much higher value (I understand that I maybe shouldn’t have told them, but I trusted them and wanted to share that I found the year the piece was from), and last minute made me get out of the skirt and refused to honor my purchase, which felt humiliating and debasing. Further, they also gave the excuse that the skirt had just come in and they hadn’t had time to research, but I found online that they had had the skirt for at least a month, which indicated they likely could have conducted the same research that I did within five minutes.
It honestly was a really bad experience and has kind of ruined vintage shopping for me and my interest in fashion; it’s also distilled a sense of distrust from me, which makes me sad. Super nice people but just pretty poor miscommunication and lack of research that left a bad taste in my mouth
