Premier Inn Carlisle Central hotel

During my stay at this hotel, everything exceeded expectations. The English breakfast buffet was more than satisfactory, offering a broad selection of well-prepared items. The staff were consistently welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout my visit. Before arriving, I had some reservations after reading a few very negative reviews among the many positive ones. However, none of those concerns reflected my own experience. The service, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere were all well above standard. In short, the hotel delivered on every front, and I will certainly return in the future.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights to attend a wedding.| Check in was pretty smooth and the room was perfectly adequate. We did get told the fire alarms were very sensitive to steam so to keep the bathroom door closed when either in the bath/shower. This seems to be true as as we were just getting ready to leave the fire alarm did indeed go off.| Breakfast was a bit meh. The standard sort of fare but I didn't see any croissants and there wasn't much in the way of fruit or yogurts.| Knocked down a star as although it says Carlisle central, it's about a mile away from the city centre. An easy walk though.

During our recent stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional service, and we simply have to give credit where it's due. Jo, who was working at the breakfast restaurant, made our mornings so much brighter. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with such warmth and energy, making us feel right at home. She went out of her way to make sure our toddler had everything she needed, even offering a high chair without us having to ask and sharing some great recommendations for kid-friendly items on the menu. Jo's kindness truly set the tone for a wonderful start to each day. And then there's Brian at the hotel reception—what a gem! From the moment we arrived, his friendly demeanor and genuine willingness to help stood out. He made the check-in process smooth and even went the extra mile to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay with a toddler. Brian's knowledge of the area and thoughtful tips made exploring the local spots a breeze. His attention to detail and care made a huge difference in making our experience feel personal and comfortable. It’s rare to come across people who genuinely seem to enjoy their work and care about the guests, but Jo and Brian both did just that. They made our stay so much more enjoyable, and we're truly grateful for their outstanding service. Thank you, Jo and Brian!

We recently booked a two‑night stay at the Premier Inn Carlisle Central to break up our journey while travelling to a family funeral. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.||Hotel & Room||The hotel exterior looks extremely tired and in need of some TLC, which didn’t give a great first impression. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, and check‑in was quick and pleasant.||However, upon entering our room we noticed a musty, damp smell coming from the bathroom. The bath surround was clearly damaged from prolonged moisture and really needs replacing. Only one pillow was provided per person, so we used the spare pillows from the bag in the room, but these looked grubby and as though they hadn’t been used or aired for quite some time.||Wi‑Fi and phone signal were also problematic. Mobile reception was so poor that we couldn’t use our own data. The “free Wi‑Fi” was no better, meaning we had little choice but to pay £5 for the Unlimited Wi‑Fi. This also offered only limited improvement and certainly wasn’t suitable for streaming. Very poor value for money.||Lakeland Gate Brewers Fayre (Attached Restaurant)||After a long journey, we decided to eat at the Lakeland Gate Brewers Fayre next to the hotel. Unfortunately, this was also a disappointment. We were greeted by two staff members who seemed uninterested, told to sit anywhere that wasn’t reserved, and given a throwaway “No Naan breads!” when asking about the menu. When I asked to open a tab—common when dining and staying in a hotel—the abrupt response was simply, “Don’t do tabs.”||Although we understand it is a family‑orientated pub, children were running through the restaurant despite there being a separate play area. That area was playing loud music that clashed with the music in the main pub, creating a poor atmosphere overall. For these reasons, we decided to finish our drinks and leave rather than stay for dinner.||A Much Better Alternative||Instead, we walked approximately six minutes to The Beehive Pub, and we’re very glad we did. The food and service there were excellent and great value for money. We enjoyed it so much that we ate there on both nights of our stay. (I’ll be leaving a separate review for them.)||Overall||Friendly staff at reception, but the hotel and attached restaurant both need attention. Thankfully, we found a great alternative nearby for meals, but we would hesitate to stay at this Premier Inn again based on this experience.

Booked a Premier Room at this Premier Inn. Lovely, clean and relaxing with a very comfortable bed. Added bits in room like a coffee pod machine, chocolate and bottle of water.|The staff are brilliant. From a friendly welcome at check-in to the very helpful bar staff and waitresses.|We booked a meal deal, paid a bit extra for steak which was really tasty and better than some independent restaurants I have eaten in. Everybody in our group were happy with their meals.|Great location for Carlisle City Centre (at the weekend you can use the Cumbria House Council Office car park - very reasonable for city centre) and Gretna Outlet (some good bargains)|Keep up the good work, I wish all the Premier Inns were like you!

Corporate free-fall and spin in clear evidence once more.||First thing, this ain’t in the centre of Carlisle by ANY measure…more than a mile to walk and closer to fields than to the High Street.||Second…be aware that within Premier Inn Group hotels, food times vary from location to location…||I arrived just after 2100 only to be told kitchen closed despite previous night in same chain food available to order up to 2130.||On the subject of food…shrinkflation is hitting very hard in the quantity department! ||Unless you order sides you are unlikely to fill the tank up with the paltry offerings.||Oi, Premier Inn management…you are aware we NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE right?||Rooms fine, but in room refreshments dwindling and apparently this is another business that seems to want me to act as an unpaid employee with staff clearly cut to the bone.||Incidentally, the Station Hotel right in the heart if the city would have been FAR cheaper per room!||Will actively resist using again even though my employer has a contract with the group.

One of the best Premier inns I've stayed in & 1st among equals.Rooms are larger than Ibis or Travelodge, tastefully decorated and even had a fan turned on when I checked in during this heatwave.Cleaning is upon request at reception and my room was spotless. A very welcoming reception on arrival,adding buses stop directly outside the hotel that take you to and from the city centre. There's an excellent Brewers Fayre next to the hotel and a lidl over the road.Highly recommended

Everything was as you expect a premier Inn to be. Car Park was heaving with people going to the football match just parking anywhere. Check in was a little slow but that was due to everyone arriving at the same time. The poor receptionist did not have time to breathe. Otherwise a good stay.
