Preservation Station sits on 8th Avenue just south of downtown and is bursting at the seams with antique architectural furnishings and fittings, so much so that even the parking lot has doors, tubs, sinks, windows, etc...in it!
This place is filled from floor to ceiling, no embellishment, with doors, windows, mantels, hardware, door knobs, lights, handles, cabinets and other items. While majority of the items were aged quite a bit, it did appear that they had some new build doors and such if that is what you are after. Honestly, I think 50% of the inventory is doors of some variety, and I wasn't mad it!
It is such a cool space to wander around for a bit. We stopped by looking for antique furniture and while they have a few pieces, that is not what this place is about. Even though we didn't find what we were after, it was cool to wander up and down the hallways and through the maze of rooms scoping out the goods...we really loved some of the windows and lights they have hanging around. Some absolutely beautiful, and pricey, finds that I could see absolutely making a space!
The staff was pleasant and friendly, she greeted us when we were walking around and again as we were leaving.
Overall, I could see the need and popularity of a place like this, especially when it comes to remodeling, replacing or upgrading a space.
