The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort (Richmond, Rhode Island) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"What began as a private sporting club, The Preserve has grown into a 3,500-acre wilderness estate where outdoor pursuits are paired with luxurious living. Guests spend their days fly fishing, clay shooting, or riding through forested trails, and their evenings in cedar hot tubs or the spa at Hilltop Lodge. Accommodations range from contemporary townhouses to off-grid tiny homes, each with access to the country’s longest indoor shooting range and year-round outdoor pursuits. It is Rhode Island’s most unexpected escape, equal parts rugged and refined." - Tablet Hotels

My family and I ate at the Double Barrel for my Dad's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful as are the grounds of the entire resort. The wait staff were superb. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the service was exceptional. The food was delicious and the presentation of the meals was amazing. Would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful experience at Preserve Spa! From Jada at the front desk, to Clint going out of his way to be extremely friendly and kind, and Cara making us feel at home during our lunch service- we loved every second. The staff is truly amazing and you can feel it radiate into all aspects of your spa day. Our massages were amazing and we loved the added eucalyptus oil. The strawberry lemon water was an amazing touch. Michaela was an amazing masseuse with a lower back injury for someone in our party and went out of the way to accommodate and make her feel comfortable. The complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were to die for. We tried a few sandwiches and salads that were great. We truly loved our time and the staff here and cannot wait to return.

This might be the best place to experience in RI. I went today with some members as a guest, we hit the shooting range and did a brief exterior tour. It was nothing short of amazing just to see the amenities they offer their members here. The gun club and range was unbelievable. The staff were awesome and helpful. They had a great selection of firearms for sale, as well as equipment , and some really unique items. They also had fishing equipment, and a separate gun room that was by guided tour only. After the range I got to see the hotel , some of the town houses, mini homes, private fishing pond, and luxury hobbit houses. The preserve is quite the one stop destination. They offer different tiers and types of memberships . They have a golf course on site, horseback riding, and what looked like a Bentley driving course experience. If you have the $ to spend and want to come to the most amazing property you have ever been on, this is the place to do it.

The Preserve exceeds my expectations every time my family and I visit. From the Hobbit house to the Annual tree lighting and movie night. The ambiance and staff are both 10/10!! Food was delicious, service was great. What a slice of heaven! I feel like I'm on vacation every time I come here.

We spent our Babymoon at The Preserve and it was wonderful! We stayed in one of the tiny homes which was great. The hospitality of guest services was incredible: a welcome gift of strawberries and non alcoholic champagne to help kick off our trip was what we were greeted with. (Shout out to Jessie) The Oh Spa was beautiful and I loved my prenatal massage . The tour of spa was given by Clinton who was very knowledgeable. Every worker at the establishment was beyond friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend visiting for a long weekend or short one! Very grateful .

5 Star ! Stop the Madness !!! This is a three star joint at best..I paid $1,000 a freeking night for what ? The place is a ghost town ..and for good reason..The dining is mediocre at best, they should sent the staff on a Regent Cruise so they will know what it is really like to get 5 Star treatment. And to top it off after paying all that money I couldn't even use the hot tub !! They sub it out to get some money in there..Also the $ 1,100 for the Hobbitt nonsense is also way overpriced ...I have traveled all over the world many great hotels ..I never felt ROBBBED by going there...

I don’t leave reviews often, but wanted to warn others about the resort management and lack of transparency. Overall, the resort is beautiful and service on property is great. Expect to pay 30-50% more than the advertised cost with fees. BUT If anything goes wrong, DO NOT trust what management tells you — they will likely not reimburse you for any issues. If you’re okay with that (or get travel insurance), then you should definitely visit the property since our stay was otherwise great. DETAILS OF OUR EXPERIENCE To start off, the resort itself is beautiful and every staff member we met on property was helpful and polite. There’s a ton of activities on property, and it’s a very nice, quiet getaway surrounded by nature. We found a few ladybugs on our bedsheets, but the rooms were otherwise very clean. Expect to pay 30-50% more than the advertised price due to the daily fees and taxes charged throughout your stay. We booked with a 3rd night free promo code, but the per night fee came out to almost double what the “pro-rated” nightly cost we were quoted on booking was, so not sure if the promo really made much of a difference in the end. Now for the bad part. We had booked a 3-night stay, and got unlucky because there was a city-wide power outage on our 2nd day. The Preserve did not have any backup generators, so it lost power as well. On the night of the outage, we were told by the front desk and staff members that this was an unusual occurrence and they had no idea when power would be restored (this was about 30 minutes into the blackout). Because we lived 3 hours away, they recommended we leave early since they weren’t confident power would be restored any time soon and assured us that we would be reimbursed for the remaining nights, given the severe weather event and lack of heat/power on property. We took their advice and checked out early. In the days after, we called the resort management multiple times to confirm that we were properly checked out and would be reimbursed, getting confirmation each time that they would process it as soon as the system lets them — on the day of our original check-out. On the day of our check-out, we did get a call from management that they had processed the refund and we should expect to see it on our credit card statement in a couple of days. We thought that was the end of it, until we were charged almost double the amount we agreed on the next day. We thought it was a mistake and called management, who agreed it was a mistake and said they would speak with their accounting department. A day later, we get an email that the charge was actually correct, and all the previous discussions were incorrect because the resort policy was that we would be charged the full fee since we “cancelled”. Now, the amount itself was not that much and we luckily did have trip insurance coverage from our credit card, but we were overall disappointed by management’s response to the situation. To be clear, the power outage was in no way their fault, and we would’ve completely understood if they told us at the time that, if we chose to leave, it would be considered a cancellation. Instead, we were told the same thing by multiple people over the course of a week, then charged almost double that, and when we inquired about it, were told it was our fault for choosing to leave and “per their reservation policy” we would be charged the full amount, including taxes and fees.

we are iPrefer members and found this place by accident after receiving and email from Preferred Hotels. We decided to give it a try as we love nature and kids love to experience the outdoors and roam around. This was a perfect place for this. We stayed at a Tiny Home which was simply AMAZING. we are blown away by this property and its a truly the best kept secret, and just a short drive from NY/NJ. some areas were off limits and it was explained to us about the need to buy membership - but no big deal, as there was plenty to do. Would have been nice to have an option to buy a day pass to access restricted areas. Regardless, we had a blast and will definitely return.
