The 10 Best Airbnbs in Scotland for a Folkloric Fall Getaway | Vogue

"This exquisite one-bedroom cottage is set within the grounds of Preston Hall estate, just 12 miles from Edinburgh’s city center. The home offers several charming touches, from the double-sided stove to the kitchen awash in a peaceful blue (complete with a nook in the dining area). After a day of sightseeing, unwind in the candy cane-striped bathtub, which has wooden tray that’s ideal for holding a glass of local scotch and your favorite book. It has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom; amenities include a bathtub, washer, indoor fireplace, heating, a backyard, and free parking. Located in Midlothian." - Nicole Kliest

Lovely walled garden with interesting back story on its refurbishment over the past 10 years. Limited opening times, so check the website for details and tickets. Coffee, cakes and toasties available on the day of our visit. Will head back next summer to see how the work continues.

We stayed in The Garden Bothy. Such a lovely tranquil place to holiday. Large enclosed garden for our dogs. Very well equipped and lovely and clean

Wonderfully relaxed garden, a delight to visit. Be aware that there is no café or toilet facilities. The Hall is only open Friday to Sunday throughout August 2020.

We came here for the Easter event for the kids, with Easter Egg hunt. The gardens itself were really beautiful, and we came on a sunny day, which made it very relaxing to hang out in the garden. The event itself was less than terrible. Our 4 children, aged between 7 and 12, did the ‘difficult’ egg hunt, which was meant to be for ages up to 16. They were done in 5 minutes, and were allowed to pick a chocolate egg after. We paid £60 for our 4 kids and 4 adults. It was so disappointing as the only other thing to do was some very basic art and craft. There was face painting which was charged extra at £5 per child. The woman was bored the entire time with no customers as clearly everyone was disgusted with the price and the fact that it wasn’t included in the very steep entry fee. There were drinks and ice cream which was charged extra of course. There were no toilets. All in all it couldn’t have been any worse. I don’t know how these people don’t feel ashamed of themselves for ripping people off like that. We basically paid £60 for a few chocolate eggs and a walk around a walled garden. We will definitely not be back and certainly not recommend it to anyone.

We live locally in Pathhead and love walking our dog through the estate, absolutely beautiful and so peaceful with amazing views and wildlife. An absolute jewel in midlothian and an oasis of calm and tranquility. Sadly we missed out on tickets for the tours but we will be on the lookout for future tours.
