Presulis Slow Hideaway

This was the last stop of a trip with a couple of friends. We wanted to stay somewhere outside of Bolzano with access to Alpe di Suisi. Presulis was a perfect choice for us. The hotel is small and family run. We had a kick watching the owner's daughter drawing at breakfast one day. While the hotel is small, the rooms are spacious with plenty of room to spread out. Beds were very comfortable and it was great sleeping with the windows open to get the fresh mountain air. Loved the breakfast option to help us fuel up before going out for a day of hiking. We had two dinners at the hotel which were equally fantastic- upscale mountain food without being too fussy or over the top. Our rooms looked out to the castle and you don't get the dramatic views that you might get at some other hotels in the area. However, the views are still beautiful and what you do get is seclusion and a very non-corporate hotel vibe which we loved. Our only warning- the road from Fie to the hotel (via Presule) is a typical narrow one lane Italian mountain road. I kind of enjoy driving like that but our friends were very happy I was driving because it did freak them out a bit! ;)

We stayed here for 4 nights and were extremely disappointed. The reception was almost never open, making it nearly impossible to get help or even basic information. The staff communication was a mess — especially around the golf pricing. What they told us initially turned out to be completely misleading, and we ended up paying more than €500 extra because of their unclear explanations. The only positive part of our stay was Peter — he was kind and did his best to help, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the poor management and lack of transparency. We will definitely not be coming back, and I’d strongly advise others to double-check every single cost before booking anything here.

We’ve had the pleasure of staying at Presulis twice, and each visit has been absolutely outstanding. The warm and authentic atmosphere—rooted in beautifully crafted woodwork and tasteful interior design—perfectly blends tradition with modern comfort. Presulis offers top-notch amenities: a serene wellness area with a sauna and a heated pool that never feels crowded, and a restaurant serving exceptional, locally inspired cuisine, all meticulously prepared by a remarkably talented chef. You truly feel owners Sylvia and Meinhard‘s passion in every thoughtful detail, and with other family members also involved, you’re surrounded by a genuine, familial warmth that makes the entire experience feel personal and deeply memorable. All the staff are consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring a memorable stay. After two visits, it’s clear that Presulis lives up to (and even surpasses) its own high standards—a 10 out of 10 experience that we can’t wait to repeat.

The bill at the end of the stay was much higher than anticipated due to unexpected costs. Terrible customer service at reception that almost never occupied and they were not helpful to find a solution in any way.

The final bill ended up far higher than expected because of surprise charges. The reception service was poor, staff were rarely present and made no effort to help resolve the problem.

We were quite disappointed with our stay at this property, which did not live up to the expectations set by its website. The property is marketed as a quiet, relaxing, and luxurious hotel/apartment complex, and given the high price point, we anticipated a premium experience similar to what we've enjoyed at other establishments in the area.|Unfortunately, the reality was quite different. What we encountered was more akin to a traditional family-run establishment rather than the luxurious retreat we were promised.|Upon arrival, we discovered that the room we had specifically booked through their website was not available. Instead, we were assigned a different room, which was far from what we had selected and paid for. The receptionist, who was polite, did show us an alternative room, but it was even worse: it lacked privacy and was directly in front of the always-busy pool.|The room we were assigned was not listed in their catalog, as it is a new addition located next to the owner's apartment. It was far from the peaceful environment we expected, being situated beside the restaurant and above the main road—the only road leading to the property. The view was nothing more than the rooftop of the restaurant (probably a quarter of the beloved castle was visible).|When we addressed our concerns with the manager, we were told they were considering “downgrading” the room, yet we were still charged the full price for the luxury chalet we had originally booked (ah no, they gave us one body lotion and a shower gel). This was incredibly frustrating and demonstrated poor customer service. It felt as though they didn’t care about our experience at all.|Additionally, there were several other aspects that contributed to our dissatisfaction. The property lacks a genuinely relaxing and private area; music plays constantly, with the same tracks looping endlessly. The breakfast self-service area is small and cramped, barely accommodating four people at a time.|Other issues we encountered included a balcony facing the road with a bright, powerful light that couldn’t be turned off, hair in the sheets, and even a contact lens left in the bathroom.|Our overall takeaway is that this property, like many others, fails to deliver on its brand promises. Perhaps we were simply unlucky, but it seemed that no one at the property truly understood—or cared about—our concerns.
