Family orientated, neat, clean and most affordable rest camp with all types from camping to family self catering accommodation. However, location is not great as it is not central in the park and travel time and game viewing can be challenging. Staff average friendly but their store has everything from food braai supplies to alcoholic drinks so you can rest assur to camp and chill with ample supplies here. Note this is not a luxurious camp. Else goto Skakuza. Note no wifi here.

The most underrated camp in Kruger National Park. Best restaurant & accommodation. Food was exceptional! We stayed in a bungalow - clean, spacious with everything you need. Very friendly and helpfull staff.

Great value for money, badic accommodation as can be expected in SANPARKS camps. Convenience store was well stocked. We used the Wimpy and service and food was good.

My first Kruger accommodation experience and I was very pleasantly surprised. Such a beautiful environment, clean and maintained. Braai outside our chalet at night was just sublime, Curio shop is stocked with EVERYTHING you need, and well priced. Advised to book your cutlery pack in advance as they run out quickly when it's busy. Wimpy was not your normal Wimpy experience... we had one of the most tasty and satisfying dinner meals there, and the daily breakfast coffee stop with the lovely, fun team was very special. Thank you for making our stay so memorable, we will be back.

We were a group of 8 and stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Sharing some feedback for upcoming travelers: Cleanliness & Maintenance – The camp is very neat, clean, and well maintained. Toilets, showers, and room cleaning are all excellent. Common Kitchen – The communal kitchen is very basic. It only has a wash basin, a small electric stove, and a microwave. It is just for reheating and not for a full cooking. There are no pots, pans, utensils, or dishwashing liquid. Bring your own basic cooking gear if you plan to prepare meals. Shop – The shop is well-stocked with almost everything you may need. It’s open from 7:00 AM until the evening, which is very convenient. Animal Viewing – This part of Kruger is quite dry, so sightings are limited. We mostly saw elephants and a few hyenas. For better game viewing, it’s advisable to stay closer to Lower Sabie or Crocodile Bridge. If you can’t get accommodation there, Pretoriuskop is a backup option. Cellphone Signal – Coverage in and around the camp is very limited. Voice calls are fine, but video calls, downloads, and browsing are difficult. Maps & Navigation – Google Maps doesn’t work reliably inside Kruger. Be sure to download offline maps before your trip. The map provided at the gate is not very helpful (too much advertising, too little detail). Take a photo of a proper Kruger map at camp or online before you go. Night Drive – Honestly, it was very disappointing. We didn’t see any animals, there were lots of insects flying into our eyes, and the guide lacked energy and enthusiasm. Not worth the money. Many travellers have same opinion. Rock Pool – A hidden gem! There’s a beautiful rock pool behind the camp, open until 8:00 PM. Highly recommended. Best Game Viewing Route – If you’re staying at Pretoriuskop but want to see more wildlife, drive towards Skukuza and then take the H6-1 and H1-2 roads towards Lower Sabie (along the Sabie River). From Lower Sabie, continue towards Crocodile Bridge for excellent sightings. View Point- on the road to Skukuza, there is a view point at the top of the hill- Mathekenyane view point. Just 1 km from main road- Very nice experience. we get a good 360 view of greater Kruger and mother africa. Please do not miss this. Gate Closing Time – Officially, the gate closes at 6:00 PM. However, the staff are accommodating if you are a little late (within about 40 minutes). Tip: Stay here if other camps are full, but plan your drives towards Lower Sabie or Crocodile Bridge for the best wildlife experience. We had a pleasant stay overall and made some wonderful memories. Wishing all future travellers a great trip to Kruger! 🐘🦓🦒

We just stayed in Pretoriuskop Restcamp for 3 nights while visiting Kruger National Park. The accomodations were as advertised; a 2 star hotel. But if all you are looking for is a place to sleep while exploring and view the experience as a "cabin" type of accommodation then it's acceptable. There are bugs and/or lizards in the rooms (check your bed before getting in), the water pressure is dismal, and some of the doors don't lock. We lost power for a day and a half off and on. They purposely turned off the power overnight that had been running from a generator which meant we didn't have air conditioning for one night which wasn't ideal. Most of our party didn't mind though. The service at the fast food restaurant is not great but the food was okay. Everyone was very nice, including the staff in the store and the rangers. We stayed in the guest house area which had a building that was a common area with a kitchen and living room and then the sleeping quarters were solo buildings with two bedrooms and one bathroom in each. ||The location for game viewing was a great starting point. On our drives we saw a leopard right outside the gate as well as elephants. And we were able to quickly get to areas that had lions, zebras, rhinos, hippos, etc. I'm not sure if the rangers are assigned to specific camps but ours were great for our late evening drive and very early morning walk. We saw an aardvark which is unheard of. ||If you're fine with roughing it, then it's worth staying here. Just don't expect hotel amenities and upgraded rooms.

Staff were friendly and lovely location. We camped for 2 nights. The ablutions had lovely showers with plenty of space in shower for soap and shampoo. Unfortunately, they had mops to clean showers that were very old and dirty and in urgent need of replacement.

We did not stay the night so I can't comment on the accommodation, but the camp has such a lovely vibe. It really feels like the Kruger I remember from when I was a kid, you really feel like you are in the bush, not over developed or overcrowded.
