Pri Mari

Stumbled upon this tiny restaurant just off the street, and what a surprisingly fantastic spot it turned out to be! You can proper tell the dishes are cooked fresh to order, with top & fresh ingredients and they taste absolutely scrumptious. The fish was simply divine, melted in your mouth it did. It was getting on a bit late, and the waiter was clearly knackered, but still dead friendly and smiling.

Possibly the best restaurant in Piran. Local fish and sea food along with fresh products make Mara's dishes a treat. Everything is absolutely delicious, especially when accompanied with Slovenian wine. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is decorated with fish, fishing gears and items, as well as all the many praises and prices they received over the years. It's a must stop in Piran.

We went to Pri Mari for an appetizer and a drink. However, the scallops were full of sand. The only reason I’m not giving this one star is because the bread was good.

When we travel (often) I spend a lot of time researching to find unique and special spots for dinner serving great food without pretense; not easy. Pri Mari is exactly the type of place we enjoy. It’s not very big and quite simple in terms of atmosphere. There’s no amazing seaside view but what it does have in abundance is fresh well prepared seafood and other local dishes. We began our meal by sharing a bowl of steaming pasta with fresh shavings of black truffles-delicious. For the main, fresh grilled whole fish, Branzino, for two which was expertly filleted table side and served with some sautéed spinach and potatoes. We shared a bottle of local white wine recommended by the server as well, which like the wine across Europe was very reasonably priced. Food was fantastic as was the chocolate (mousse) tart we had to finish off. The only knock is the lack of AC-even on a cooler day the small space can feel a bit close, so dress in lightweight clothing and you’ll be just fine. Absolutely superb overall and special spot oozing local-ness.

Usually it is very difficult to find table so book in advance. We visited twice, first time great calamari grilled and fried with potatoes. The other time we tried also mixed fish plate - fish was amazing! Fish soup was ok, average for me. Orada carpaccio amazing as well.

Wonderful restaurant! It has won awards for its cuisine and more than lives up to its reputation. It's a bit hidden, but if you like good food, you should definitely stop by there.

Unbelievably good fresh sea bream in salt from the oven, fantastic bread and deliciously light local wine. Very kind service and reasonably priced. Why was this restaurant not full last night? We would come again any day.

Fantastic place, I cannot recommend it enough. We had smoked tuna carpaccio, fish soup, fuži with spiced calamari, and what can only be described as a mountain of fresh seafood. Indulged in panna cotta and a bottle of house wine (they have it labelled as Pri Mari). Worth taking a detour from any journey in this region.
