A very pleasant place for a walk with beautiful views over the city and the sea. Rich history and a strong cultural atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting. 🌏🏛 Priamar Fortress is a large 16th-century military fortress built by the Republic of Genoa on the ruins of the old city of Savona. Over time it served as a stronghold and later as a prison. Today it is an important historical site with museums, cultural spaces, and panoramic views over the city and the sea.

One of the most interesting spots in Savona and surprisingly free to visit. The fortress is beautifully located on a hill that has been the heart of the city since the Bronze Age. There is also an archaeological museum inside, although it was closed when I visited. The place feels raw and austere which actually gives it a lot of charm. You can walk through the interior, explore the rooftop terraces and climb the ramparts for stunning views of the sea, the city and the mountains. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Savona.

Impressive walkthrough citadelle, no entrence fee, the kids liked it. Nice to break up driving before hopping onto the ferry to Corse.

When we arrived in Savona, we did not expect to see such a wonderful fortress, an incredibly beautiful place for a walk. Entrance is free. Despite the fact that the fortress has a toilet in its corners, it sometimes stinks of urine, which is disappointing but does not spoil the impression.

I have always been a fan of castles and fortresses and I won't miss the chance to visit this one! You could enter the fortress without having to pay except for the museums and the current film viewing at night. At the top you could see the cityskyline and the sea! We went to one of the museums and the entrance costs 5 eur (entire price) or 3 eur (discounted price) per head. The receptionist is accomodating and well-informed of the things showcased inside the museum.

This place is too touristy and "trampled" to be a good place for tourists to visit. But, if you love old castles and everything connected with them, you can certainly visit it. From the top there is a good view of the city and port.
