Where to See the Northern Lights in the United States

"A northern Idaho lake area surrounded by dark, forested terrain that increases the likelihood of spotting auroras farther south in the state, making it a recommended destination when solar activity spikes." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. Very large lake. Often has a lot of chop do to its size and the common light breeze. Very beautiful. Not a lot of fish. The water is very clear. The sandy beaches are great, very nice for swimming.

Priest lake is great. Beautiful views, sandy beaches, warm water.... What more could you ask for? We paddled out to Kalispell island to set up our tents, then explored the rest of the islands during the day. I would highly recommend camping on Kalispell to anyone that could make it:)

It is absolutely beautiful here. The water is so clear. Great place to swim, do water sports, spend time with family, enjoy beautiful scenery, and just relax in nature.

Northern Idaho's secluded gem has everything for the public for outdoor camping and adventure. The pristine beauty is matched with very fine accommodations from ruffing it to lodges for the visitor. It is well worth the time to visit this hidden gem that is often missed by the visitor.

Fresh sunsets, cold water and fall colors. Most picturesque place in the Northwest.

Our family has been coming up here every year for nearly 50 years. Alot of history up here. Endless views and things to do!

Beautiful and serene. Lots of trails to wander and nearby sites. It is remote- which possibly why it has stayed so nice!
