Avoid if food hygiene is a priority.
I ordered the Prima bowl and noticed an unpleasant smell as soon as it was served. I assumed it came from the food at first, but I realised the odour was coming from the wooden bowl itself. It had a damp, mouldy smell, with visible stains and signs of mould on the surface.
When I raised this with the waiter, he stated that he could not smell anything and said that this was simply how the bowl was. He suggested that I order a different dish that is not served in a wooden bowl. No apology was offered. Although he did agree to replace it with a porcelain bowl, the response was dismissive and concerning.
My friend ordered the Asian bowl and she noticed stains in her bowl as well. As shown in the picture the bowl has yellow stains and signs of mould. I genuinely do not understand why these bowls have not been replaced and are still being used to serve food, especially dishes containing sauces and moisture.
I would strongly recommend that the restaurant reconsider the use of wooden bowls, or ensure they are properly cleaned, sanitised and fully dried. It is particularly disappointing because the food itself was actually very delicious, which makes it all the more unfortunate that food safety did not seem to be taken seriously.
