Prince of Wales Hotel

Very pleasantly surprised. The rooms have been newly renovated and have quality finishes. We stayed in room 12 that has both mountain and river views and faces on to historic battery point. Its a short walk to Salamanca and would have to be one of the best locations in Hobart. The restaurant was top notch with new decor and a nice ambient setting. The scallops were in season and were simply amazing. To top it off it has one of the best bakeries right next door which gave us a perfect start to the day. The staff were very accommodating and we really couldn't have asked for anything more.

We had a great stay here! Great value for money. The room was so comfortable, lovely bathroom and high end products. Great location and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again if we return to Hobart!

Fresh Tasmanian scallops were on the specials menu last night. They were served in their shells and they were fabulous. It not very often you need to cut them in half as they were huge and delicious.

Amazing pub in a picturesque location. We stopped here for a cold beer whilst passing through yesterday afternoon. The girl behind the bar was super friendly and very happy to answer my questions.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Prince of Wales Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, offering all the comforts I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the amenities provided exceeded my expectations. The hotel’s location was perfect—close to key attractions yet peaceful enough to unwind at the end of the day. I also enjoyed the delicious dinner options and the overall ambiance of the property. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

Firstly I would like to thank you and apologise to the owner who stayed late at reception on Easter Friday to let us check in at 7.30pm. We were originally meant to come around midday but got delayed with travelling. He also upgraded us to a bigger room, gave us valuable information on places to see and nearby eateries. The location is amazing as we are in middle of the world heritage city and 3 minute walk to Salamanca. Rooms are excellent, clean, big and modern. Great value for money as well! Thank you for a great stay and we will definitely come back here again!

We had a romantic evening pub meal here. The crumbed scallops were good, and the lamb shank excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. We liked the ambiance of the new decor.

I love this pub and hotel. I've stayed several times, the rooms are great (very comfy bed) and the location cannot be beaten. Staff are friendly, food at pub is solid, and the extensive range of beers on tap and wines by the glass is excellent. There was live music one of the nights which was a nice addition as well.

I loved the hotel. The room was simple but clean. The staff were exceptional. The food was ok. Large portions, real pub food. The drinks were pub prices, not bistro prices. We dicked them around with the booking but they were super accommodating. I have a problem with fried everything. Grilled calamari would have been great. If you have a problem with farmed seafood, check first. I do; if I am by the water I want seafood fresh out of the sea.

Good service but terrible food. I ordered a risotto, which was gluey and tasted like it came out of a packet. I think there was wheat thickener in it too. I could have made it better myself. My friend's steaks were chewy and fatty - not what you'd expect for $30! Never eating here again
