Our family stayed in a family room on a Saturday night. The building is lovely and the room had everything we needed. Comfortable and clean, good value for money. Breakfast is super basic - the vending machine was helpful. Sometimes when you flush the toilet it makes a LOUD pipe banging sound. So we made sure not to flush overnight. If you're on the lower level, bring your earplugs because wow does noise carry. The room above us was bang! bang! bang! (like elephants stomping on the floor) until maybe 2.30am. Also sounded like we were unwilling participants in a p**n movie. Thankfully they must have passed out around 2.30. Gross. I'm kicking myself that I didn't call to complain - that's on me.

Old building with character kept maintained. Very affordable. It reminds me of travelling the UK and Ireland countryside and their accommodation. Very cosy with complimentary breakfast and staff are very friendly. I prefer staying in a comfortable premises with history than the concrete jungle.

A basic single room, separate kitchenette, with a little fridge, and a clean, functional bathroom. What more could one need. A window by the bed was also appreciated, as was the small wardrobe. The main building, the lodge itself, is a pleasure to behold, for any who appreciate nineteenth century architecture. There are heritage listed terrace houses along the street, and adjacent parklands. Staff were pleasant, and courteous. Thank You for providing a simple, and quiet, clean place to stay, at an affordable rate; so much nicer than a clinical, souless motel. To stay there is in some small way, helping to preserve history. .

I recently dined at Chaioz, and it was an exceptional experience. The service was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff who clearly took pride in their work. Overall, Chaioz exceeded my expectations in every way, making it a standout dining destination. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Very bad place to go.I cannot understand why this hotel has got a good rating .Maybe we just got there at a bad time .We checked for 2 days . Did not explain anything about the hotel . After we settled in and had dinner , there was a lot of noise coming from the top room above us. E.G Thumping on the floor above . Went to the front desk and told them and told her ,(long blonde hair ) and she said she knows what is going on , they were 3 musicians .She said she would talk to them . The noise did not stop. |The fridge in the room was a small bar fridge and put in some fresh small goods and frozen prawns, cheese, and dips.We tried to put the prawns in the freezer but the whole freezer was frozen thick with ice and could even open the freezer door .Went to the breakfast which was bread still the the wrapper , jam , butter ,orange and apple juice with breakfast cereal and tin peaches.Coffee and tea. Just a low end continental breakfast. We went back to the room and my wife wanted a coffee and went the to fridge and noticed the fridge door was opened about 4 cm. and the it was not cold inside . Went to the front counter and asked to do something and the blonde hair girl said "what do you want me to do" So I went to talk the a young man and he said he will put the produce in their kitchen freezer. Did not even come to look. Next day my wife went to the breakfast room to make a coffee and there was no fresh milk. So she asked the girl with the blonde hair said you should have milk in your room , there was none .so she got the little tub of long life milk. We asked after we got back from a good day out we had to ask for clean towels and empty rubbish and asked to they clean everyday day and she replied they clean every 5 days . . The sink is not in the bathroom as it is near the bed , when we checked out I walked int the hotel kitchen to get our food, and seen a young girl and told her about the fridge and she came and looked straight away and said this should have been fixed.Oh if you wanted a toilet on the bottom floor they were not working .. Other people in the breakfast room were doing some sort of complaining too about the toilets .

We stayed for a few nights. The hosts were amazing. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Yet they were never imposing. It is a very clean and stately old building with beautiful yesteryear features and modern conveniences. The rooms are a good size and the included breakfast is a fantastic way to start the day. Very close to the heart of Adelaide and the city free buses. Thank you I wish they all had this charm.

Loved it! The rest of our road trip was mostly motels, so this was what I’d say is more of a B&B. The building is so quaint and lovely, and the managers are fantastic. The free city connector bus is about 50 metres from the front door, so everything is accessible, and there’s a great strip of restaurants/cafes about 2 blocks away. The only negative would be it’s an old building so there is a bit of noise.. just footsteps up the stairs etc, nothing crazy. We’ll definitely stay again the next time we visit Adelaide!

Yelp
For North Adelaide, this is a good price to pay for a motel. It's a old style hotel, which was constructed in 1913 as a private residence. I've stayed in this motel once or twice, and didn't think the experience was all that bad. It's in a good suburb but it's away from the hustle and bustle of O'Connell St, although it's only a short walk away so you're not missing out on all the good places to go for breakfast or dinner. So if you're looking for budget accommodation in a great suburb, then this is probably the first place you'd want to look.
