Exceptional Crew, but Outdated Ship & Unacceptable Service Failure
Our Alaska CruiseTour had high points thanks to the wonderful crew, great onboard entertainment, and beautiful stays at both the Denali and McKinley Lodges. However, the negatives significantly impacted our overall experience:
The Ship (Island Princess): Heavily outdated and worn down. We dealt with hanging light fixtures, a broken safe, a tiny cracked shower, and a broken A/C for the final two nights that was reported but never repaired (forcing us to sleep with the balcony door open).
Fairbanks Hotel: Extremely dated with worn carpets and notably rude staff—felt like a cheap roadside motel.
The Guest Services Nightmare: Guest Services failed to log our request for an extra night. Rather than rectifying their mistake, they offered no alternative accommodations, leaving us to sleep in the hospitality room overnight.
The hardworking onboard crew deserves praise, but between an aging vessel and a massive customer service breakdown on the land tour, Princess fell far short of expectations.
