The Best New Cruise Ships and Itineraries for 2024

"Princess launches the new Sphere Class with Sun Princess—the line’s largest ship yet. Princess will introduce a new class of suites called—The Reserve Collection, which will eventually replace Princess Club throughout the fleet. There’s also a new stateroom category: Cabana cabins, which have a convertible space between the veranda and the cabin that can be used as an outdoor cabana or enclosed to create extra cabin space. The ship’s three-story Piazza will be enclosed in a glass sphere in the center of the ship, giving the space an airy feel with omnidirectional natural light. The ship’s first sailings are slated for the Mediterranean in February 2024."

Google
Cruising is such a divisive topic, people either love it or hate it. Sure, the stereotype of overindulgent people gorging themselves on buffets while floating along the ocean exists, but it’s also an experience that connects passengers through food, entertainment, and the ocean. As for us, we loved our cruise to Alaska. The ship offers Vegas-like entertainment but on the water, and allowing us to visit towns in Alaska we’d never otherwise be able to. We saw eagles and whales and glaciers and breath taking nature that was only accessible by ship. Food options were endless, service was top-notch, and the kids had the best vacation of their lives. Purchase through Costco for additional perks like rebates and free drink packages and balcony upgrade. Happy cruising y’all

Google
A lot of nickel and diming, unclear pricing at the Lotus Spa and the very expensive Princess Photo Studio ($100 per digital picture), food was hit or miss, quality of service went down over time (coffee orders were often messed up toward the end of the cruise), excellent entertainment, beds were freaking amazing, room service menu extremely limited, pools were a lot of fun, gym only had two weight benches but a million treadmills, shower temperature cycled between hot and cold, the photographers were excellent, shops were only for the super wealthy ($40k jewelry for example), the Piazza has limited seating, luxury dining was impressive (especially Sabatini’s), no ushers to manage theater seating, laundry machines were scarce, lots of fun events. We went to Hawaii, but there weren’t many themed activities or music. We met some nice people!

Google
We absolutely loved our princess cruise to the Caribbean! Princess cays was our favorite and such a sight, We loved it. The best part is, it wasn’t crowded, the music wasn’t loud and wasn’t banging the ship at the seams like other cruise lines. There were many quiet areas to sit back and look at the beautiful blue ocean. Overall a super amazing experience!

Google
The Princess Cruise Line ship Discovery. This was a 7-Day cruise Mexican Riviera out of LA. Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Talk about five star treatment. From the minute we got on the ship and all through our cruise we had five star treatment. The food was fantastic and We had a mini suite on the port side on the dolphin deck 9 with M1 classification. The shore excursions were super safe fun and exciting. We went horseback riding in Puerto Vallarta, And the hop-on hop-off bus in Mazatlan, and did our own exploring in Cabo. Our cabin Steward Raul took excellent care of us. We are totally sold on the Princess Cruise Line and will be sailing on princess in the future. As a matter of fact we have two more cruises planned. Thanks Princess Cruise Line

Google
Princess Cruise line is the reason people don't like cruising. They have no organization especially when it comes to tours booked through the cruise line. They have canceled and rescheduled us twice including charging my credit card without permission. They scheduled us to stop on an island that was entirely shut down for a holiday so the only thing you could do is get robbed in a local street parade or look at woods. The food is unbelievablely terrible unless you like food that tastes like dirty feet smell or have no taste at all. It is made up for by the terrible service if you want a soda or water for dinner you are not going to get it. Go find a water station and wait on yourself. I wish I could give them a zero. I have been on 5 other cruises and this princess experience doesn't resemble an actual cruise in any way. They also doubled charged us for the tour we didn't want so now we are going to end up having to dispute it when we get back. 0 out of 10. Avoid like the plague.

Google
I expected a whole lot more. I thought Princess Cruises was known for being one of the better cruises. I found that to be far from reality. The only excellent food and service was in the Italian restaurant which was almost impossible to get into. The steak house was about as good as Outback. The food on the rest of the ship was less than par. Let's just say, i expected a whole lot more for the money they charge. Our room was full of MOLD. They cleaned the carpets the first day that we thought took care of the issue, but by the middle of the cruise, it was back which led to respiratory issues. I requested to talk to the GM on the first day, but they refused. The entertainment was one of the best parts of the cruise. The tour director and his staff were really top notch. I would say head to another cruise line if you expect any kind of quality. If Walmart is your style, then this is your cruise line. If you expect what you pay for, There were too many foundational issues that needed repair to ever recommend this cruise line. Cruise elsewhere.

Google
Currently coming to the end of our cruise from San Francisco to Hawaii.... Had a brilliant break and was lucky enough to meet the captain and get a tour of the bridge. The staff are a credit to the princess brand and can honestly say they go the extra mile in all cases. Food was excellent and cabin R227 met all our expectations. We also enjoyed the entertainment and the hypnotist was brilliant.

Google
My family, including 2 adults and 1 toddler, opted for the all-inclusive package aboard this cruise. There are various packages available to suit different preferences. Overall, the cruise experience was enjoyable, with friendly staff and excellent service. However, a notable inconvenience was the frequent use of our credit card on file for pending charges, contrary to the advertised "all-inclusive" package. While refunds were promised, this practice contradicted the notion of transparency in pricing and left us feeling frustrated. The online Princess app features a "folio" section that tracks credit and expenses linked to your credit card. However, it's poorly organized and difficult to interpret. Throughout the trip, we found ourselves needing assistance from guest services multiple times as we were repeatedly charged for items already covered by the "all-inclusive" package

Yelp
My wife and I had booked a cruise with Princess and then given them our credit card to both pay the deposit and then to make the final payment. Our cruise assistant indicated she had a credit card on file and if that should be used to make the final payment. I responded "That will work". Then she never made the final transaction and we were not notified so the cancelled us. Well my wife was able to call and get our reservation reinstated, but with a lot of upselling of stuff we did not need. I asked the cruise planner, if I cannot trust you to assist me with my cruise and you work for Princess, who can I trust. Obviously not Princess!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I wrote a review from my experience and it must have been removed. Basically, I bought a trip and they canceled it a week later. Their system had a system failure. They say they restored the reservation and the air tickets. They didn't restore the air tickets. We are at the airport and we are told Princess canceled your air. They offered to fly us to Juneau to where the ship was going to dock, the problem was due to bad weather, it did not dock in Juneau. If it hadn't been for our shipmate friends telling us that the ship was bypassing Juneau, we would have gone there. It took 5 hours of waiting for Princess Cruises to know that important fact. Oh they offered to fly us to the final port so we could enjoy a two day trip. They make it sound like it's your choice not to sail. No one cares. Managers, sales people, even customer relations people don't care. Do not use this company!

Yelp
Overall Princess cruises is good, however their customer service and reduced services that are part of the basic (expensive) fare is disappointing. They will frequently nickel and dime you for things that were previously included in the base fare. Also frustrated that the centrally located casino is totally smoking. Would be nice if there were designated closed areas with casino games for smokers, as it causes problems for people with respiratory problems.

Yelp
Just finished a 7day Caribbean cruise on the Sky princess out of Fort Lauderdale this morning. I'm so disappointed that I wasted 7days in the Caribbean on a Floating Mobile home / Nursing home. I would have never thought it was like that. Buffets and cafeteria dining rooms. I was in shock. If I had that moment to re do i would have not stayed. It was horrible. I can't even begin to tell you about the horrible service, food etc. I'm telling you GOLDEN CORRAL GRADE FOOD. HORRIBLE . 20 min or more to get drinks The lines at all bars had max 3 bartenders. 5,000 ppl to serve. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and go directly into the resorts of the Island of choice. Never again

Yelp
Do not get married or bring a group of friends on this cruise, it is a nightmare! -They have NO ONE reliable to set you up on any type of wedding package that doesn't "Jump Ship" and completely ghost you after supposedly setting up a wedding event. -They have no respect to Dinner reservations you set up months in advance for you and your group to eat together. If you set up a specific time reservation, they will change it on you without notifying you. -They say you get credit for bringing friends/family with you, but that is a lie. We still haven't gotten our credit for the 25 people we are bringing. Getting a hold of a human being who works for Princess to deal with all the problems they cause is impossible!

Yelp
All our Princess cruises from Vancouver have been wonderful. Had one bad experience which had to deal with embarkation. That was more the fault of the Port of Vancouver, though, because there were not enough Customs agents to assist the 3 ships full of passengers that day. Princess Cruises really provides a nice experience. I would consider it a mid level cruise line. Meaning it is not an expensive luxury cruise line, but it is not a cheap cruise line either. The clientele tends to be older, but that does not bother my wife and I. Princess provides us what we need which is a complete escape from our normal life. After the cruise, we return to our regular life recharged and new.

Yelp
This was my second cruise with Princess and while I've departed in the Port of Angeles previously, this was my first time doing so in the city of Vancouver. The line was pretty hectic. There were lengthy wait times just to get through Customs. I have Global Entry but my friend did not and she unfortunately could not go with me so I stayed with her. Once we got to the Customs kiosk, everything was smooth. We had our carry-on items with us as we checked our other luggage but we were able to board without issue. Once we got to our room, it was a matter of making sure our medallions worked. The medallions are a new thing and pretty cool since all transactions are done through the medallions and charged to your personal account. If you utilized the apps on board, you get a free cocktail of your choice! That was pretty nice. We didn't do the unlimited drink option because it was a rip-off. Who's going to drink that much on a cruise? My liver would not survive. We ended up with a few drinks per day and brought two bottles of wine which were served to us in the dining rooms. This was the best option for us since it was cost effective and healthier. The food was fine. I didn't have any issues but it wasn't what I'd say super fine dining. It was nice though. We opted for the buffet a few times and decided the anytime dining rooms were a better bet. Despite the set menus, you could order multiple entrees if you wanted. We did utilize the coffee package because espresso is life! Our Alaskan cruise was definitely memorable. We hit 2 of the 3 ports. We were turned away from Juneau due to high winds. Our excursions for that city had to be canceled but we were able to rebook for the next port. It was a hectic day at sea but it was exciting to say the least. I celebrated a milestone birthday in Alaska so I can't really complain. While I've only cruised with Princess, I feel like they have the best bang for your buck if you're looking for consistency. I may have to try a different cruise line in the future but at least this trip was special.

Yelp
While on Enchanted Princess cruises to the Mediterranean in May 2023, I booked a cruise to the Panama Canal for May 9th 2024. Booking number 5WGL5T. When I made the booking on May 5th 2023, I paid $200 dollars deposit and was never explained, that they require the Yellow Fever vaccine, which we can't have because we are over 60 and the side effects can be fatal. When I found out about the vaccine, I called Princess Customer service and canceled the cruise and requested a refund. I was told by a service rep in the Philippines I should receive the $200 deposit within 15 business days( that was on June 27th 2023). I called them again on July 26th 2023 because I haven't received my deposit and was told by someone on the Philippines im not entitled to a refund because that deposit is for a future cruise, but they didn't wait for the future cruise to take the $200 out of my account, it was taken by princess cruises right away. I don't recommend Princess cruises and their future cruise dept.

Louis L.

Yelp
If you plan a trip to Vancouver be prepared to wait over an hour for a taxi. The system is horrible and i won't return to Vancouver again.

Yelp
I am a Platinum member with Princess Cruises, meaning I've sailed with them over 10 times and these past four months have been the absolute worst for their customer service. We cruise at least annually and I wrote and e-mailed them a letter regarding a recent cruise my husband and I took and had no response, other than an automated response stating they would get back to me within a month, which never happened. Recently, I received an e-mail from an employee at Princess stating he was my new vacation planner, so I called him to complain about Princess customer service and he had his supervisor contact me. I sent the letter to the supervisor, who forwarded it to their customer relations dept twice and still no response. It is evident that Princess Cruises doesn't care about retaining their loyal customers and I am extremely disappointed with their cruise line since the pandemic.

Jan Z.

Yelp
I am very disappointed in my cruise with princess cruises I was transported to emerald princess dock. when I got off the bus and walked to where other passengers were I was told by them that one of the dock porters took my luggage and through them on racks. I asked the porters to help but they refused. I found a check in person and told them the problem. was told my luggage would probably get to my room. guest what.... we set sail and no luggage. sooo I was without clothes, medicine and other essentials for 15 days. I was not able to enjoy the cruise. credit given for essentials was not enough. I feel princess owes me. I am looking into legal action. if you want to travel princess, I suggest you don't let your luggage out of your site. ir do as I plan that is never use princess again

Yelp
Princess Cruise Lines is trying to charge me another $1500 for a cruise that has been paid in full for years, since before COVID. They are also forcing me to pay a $1600 cancellation fee if if I do not pay it by Sept. If I cancel for any reason, even if I just do not prove my vaccination for COVID19, the will charge me between $1600 and ALL OF THE SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS I PREPAID FOR A TRIP THAT WAS SCHEDULED BEFORE COVID WAS A PROBLEM. My medical records are not anyone's business but mine and my Doctor's. The lucrative merger of corporations and State is nearly complete. Funny how all the fascists went from ID is racist to show is your papers in no time at all... I will not bend to your will just because you are beating me with a stick (figuratively speaking) because I refused your carrot. My lawyer will be in touch.

John S.

Yelp
We planned a cruise to Hawaii for our anniversary departing the end of November. I have rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia. I have not been able to walk unassisted for two years. As the time for the trip approached, I realized that I would not be able to enjoy any of it even with a scooter. I cancelled and notified the "platinum" insurance coverage we purchased. I have sent numerous requests and my doctor has signed documents and has written a letter. Now they want all my medical records. This is a large amount of money for us and we saved for a long time. Seems like we may never recoup our losses. In retrospect we probably should never have booked this but hope springs eternal and I thought I might be "better" by the time of the cruise and we did purchase insurance. Very very discouraged.

Steve Q.

Yelp
I am absolutely disgusted about Princess Cruise Line. My wife and I are avid cruisers and have tried many cruise lines. Our most recent trip was with the Sky Princess to Western Caribbean mid November. After coming back, I admit that we forgot to cash out our casino winnings. After a 2 hour wait for customer service to come on line, I was informed I reached the wrong department and had to be transferred to Casino Relations for another 1 and half hour wait. They first tried to offer me credit for my next cruise and that definitely was a no deal, this is my money and not a gift from them, cruise credit is a slap in the face. I then was told that it can take up to 12 weeks for them to issue my money by mail and I believed them. As of mid February, no check, no response, nothing. I tied to call casino relations at 888-672-2582 and greated with an automated system. Option 4 was to discuss balances and as you press it, it tells you the number isn't working. How can an option prompt not work? No contact no apology nothing. Princess has lost my loyalty to them just purely based on customer service. There are many other companies out there that will strive for continued valued relationships and Princess is definitely not one of them.

Dale D.

Yelp
They never answer your call. I have spent well over 5 hours of hold time without an answer. On May 14, 2022, I booked a cruise through the Casino Club. I then discovered a billing error and have been trying to correct the situation. The phone line that answers is the one that will accept your payments. So I have emailed Princess Cruises Customer Relations Department and here is the immediate reply: Hello and thank you for your email to the Princess Cruises Customer Relations Department. Yelp
DON'T even bother trying to book with Princess unless you are very patient and can accept very poor phone service.. I had a reservation and needed to make a final payment for the cruise. I called to give them my credit card number and was on hold for an agent for 1 1/2 hours. My phone battery eventually died. I am a member of their Elite class (a lot of cruises with them) and also wanted to book 2 cruises for 2022-2023. When I got my phone working again I called Celebrity Cruise Line for the hell of it and got an agent within 30 seconds. I am booking my future cruises through Celebrity instead of Princess. Also they are taking away free internet for Elite passengers which we enjoyed for many years. They have also gone over to their new Medallion Class system which assumes you have access to a smart phone but we have basic phones. Before, we could do all preliminary paperwork over the internet. Now we can't. Have to take all documents to the pier to get processed there. Implementation of this program was poorly thought out. I've always had very good experiences on board Princess ships. Hope the post pandemic cruise experience will better than their customer service.

Yelp
Unlimited drink package was free. We were greeted from the start of the trip with a personal guide and our bags were ore checked so we never lifted a thing. Only Alaskan land tour the tips were included. That trim ride is only $5. There is not a $400 drink option. Food was great and entertainment out if this world. I read a bad review from someone who needs to change their trip advisor. This is our 4th Cruise, 3 to Alaska and 1 to the south seas. If, as the bad reviewer sad, there is a dirty toilet and blood on the sheets the for god sake tell the front desk instead of whining! Don't believe whiny people. This is a great trip!

Yelp
Review for Princess Cruises - Alaska Inside Passage Northbound, Coral Princess Five Thumbs Down I have been on two other cruises, one to the Caribbean with Norwegian Cruise lines, which was incredible in all ways that you would imagine a cruise being. The other was a smaller ship holding 99 people and sailed in The Galapagos, it was fabulous and in a league of its own. On Boarding It was chaotic, unorganized and generally not a great experience. Norwegian, with its ship capacity of 7000 was organized, concise and easy to board. Princess had multiple lines to wait in and crammed too many people together. This ship only held 3000 with the crew. Customer service was average. The food was not just bad, in some cases inedible. The first night I tried the prime rib, it came out as a vacuume packed blob of meat that looked like it had been processed, no resemblance of a steak at all. The baked potato had to have been three days old and even smelled old. I let my friend try a bite, she agreed, it was really bad. I pushed my plate to the side and went for their rolls and then a cream brulee, both very good and the only thing that got us through the trip. My friend had the salmon, tasteless and dried out. We watched as the waiter came out with another prime rib plate delivering it to the lady sitting at the table next to ours, she took one bite and pushed the plate away. Unfortunately, the bad food continued for the duration of the trip including not just a dinner meals but the café on the top floor. Entertainment They had two comedians perform, both were good. They also had Naturalist speakers discuss all topics related to Alaska and the wildlife, that was informative. Other than that, there was bingo, learn how to play the harmonica and a few other very mediocre activities available. Upgrades Drink package. For an extra 400.00 per person, we took this package. Unless you are a big drinker, you will over pay. On average we had about 4-5 drinks per day. I would say we lost about 200.00 choosing this option. Norwegian had great white wine choices, Princess had one and it was average. Pre-paid gratuities - This does not transfer over to the train ride or any other meals on land. Beds - They were comfortable however, the bedding had stains on them, both the sheets and the comforter Princess Train - Not worth the money and the 8/9 hour ride was extremely uncomfortable, drinks were pricey. It was a wasted day. Princess Wilderness lodges - NOT RECOMMENDED. Their lodges are on par with Days Inn. The reception has a great view of Denali Mountain but the buildings where the guests stay were meager. We stayed in one of their lodges in Denali and that wasn't even in the Denali Park area. The only wine they serve is Sutter Home.... Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, after checking in to the " Princess Wilderness Lodge" we discovered the bedding in horrible shape. Fresh blood on the pillow case, bedding had not been changed, only the bed spread pulled up over the sheets. The toilet had not been cleaned, it wasn't pretty. Weather Freezing - not sure why they would advertise tours in the month of May. All of the bears wake up in June for the Salmon run.

Yelp
I'm totally surprised how difficult it is to reach Princess Cruise regarding booking an Alaskan Cruise for our small group. Been trying for about a week now and hold times exceed 15 minutes (I hang up after that)! Just be warned fellow cruisers.

Christina P.

Yelp
Advice: Check out the schedule of how many cruise ships are leaving the port of Vancouver on the day of the sailing at https://www.portvancouver.com/cruise/cruise-schedule/. Three is more than the port can handle properly. I purchase a Club Class Mini Suite as it stated that we would get Priority Boarding if we paid extra for Club Class. Warning: This was not the case. The initial line was priority, but the customs line took over 2.5 hours after that. I asked two Princess employees and they both said that there was no priority boarding on customs line. Awful way for anyone to start a trip, but worse if you pay extra and find out that you have to wait this long. Three ships embarked that day. I have experienced this mess a few years ago and the mess is worse now. Both times, three ships (different cruiselines) were embarking. Waitstaff onboard were excellent, as was the comedian. Bed and pillows were comfortable, but the comforter is wrapped between two clean sheets and comforter was yellowed and appeared unclean which grossed me out.

Yelp
We were on the Island Princess, sailing from Vancouver to L.A. on 9/16/19. The sea was rough enough on the 2nd day that the captain decided to completely skip Astoria, Oregon. No big deal since weather is weather. When we got to Santa Barbara, waiting for the tender to get on land was a joke. It took over an hour and a half of sitting in the dining for our boarding tickets to be called. We've been on more than a dozen cruises but this was the only time where so much time was wasted waiting, we nearly loss interest in going on land. We did go but decidedly cut our time short just to be sure we wouldn't have to wait forever again to get back on the ship. Other than that, everything was good as expected. The chef and Maitre D were goofing off during the cooking show and made it very funny and enjoyable. Cruise Director Natalie Costa had a constant smile and an upbeat attitude thru out the entire trip. Great job, Natalie! :)
