Procida, one of the islands that embrace the Bay of Naples, has managed to preserve its original, true beauty, uncontaminated nature and simplicity of life. Cradle in clear and shimmering waters, this small island is a precious jewel box containing natural landscapes of delightful green hues, colors of bygone ages, iridescent landscapes, and magnificent views of primitive and wild splendor. The natural harbors are full of fishing boats, reminding the ancient traditions that local residents cherished ...
The most distinctive physical feature of the island is the medieval castle called "Terra murata", located above the sea on the eastern approach to the main port. Over the years, it has evolved from being a castle to a prison, to where it is today, a public monument. Besides the main harbor, two small harbors called Chiaiolella, located just below the imposing old fort and a small natural harbor at the southern tip of the island
These two small harbors are truly peaceful and beautiful.
The nearby Vivara islet is also worth seeing. The crescent-shaped remains of an ancient volcanic crater that surrounds Procida to the southwest and is connected to it by a bridge is now a nature reserve. It is also the last archaeological site to uncover the Mycenaean pottery left by the Greeks who were there centuries before the "original" Greeks colonized the bay.
