Google
This was a cool little hole in the wall at the Redondo Beach pier, the staff was awesome. The atmosphere was fantastic and the view was even better, they have great beer and pretty decent tequila. Definitely give this place a try. So eat local, spend local and shop local.

Google
We love it here!! Great food, great staff, and the location is awesome!! And they also have great music!! Super fun vibe!!

Jeffrey C.

Google
Awesome experience and an EPIC sunset here at Project Barley. Located on the Redondo pier there’s an opportunity for people watching and to watch boats coming and going. We had beer wine and pretzels. All were delicious! The service was friendly and helpful. Totally enjoyed our visit here and fully recommend a visit here if you’re in the area. Google
popped in with a friend. First time so we'll def be back. JT was great & made us feel welcomed. can't wait to come back out!

Google
Caught the World Series game last night at Project Barley and it was unforgettable! The tacos were tasty, the smash burger was next-level, and Joe and the team made us feel right at home—even as Blue Jays fans. Incredible hospitality and a one-of-a-kind vibe. This is officially our go-to spot whenever we’re in town!

Google
Fun place to hang out and enjoy award-winning beer. The staff are so nice and grab a delicious smash burger while you're listening to the live music. The location is really cool on the international harbor.

Justin S.

Google
What a great spot! The beer is fantastic! The service is outstanding! And the venue is one of a kind. I can’t speak about the food, but the beer was excellent. Where else can you get craft beer made right on the pier? Great vibe too. Kathy the bartender is a gem too!

Dan R

Google
The atmosphere, service and waterfront location are very enjoyable. They always have some form of entertainment going on every day of the week. Live bands, karaoke, open mic. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
My favorite smash burger. The double is perfect and comes with a side of fries. The view in this dive bar can't be beat, whether you sit in the main area or next door where we usually sit. It's quieter and better suited if the live band next door is not your vibe. The bar next door has a different beer menu but you can order from the main bar. Very family friendly and a great view of the harbor!

Yelp
Came here with some colleagues on a random weekday. They had karaoke going which made the vibes feel more lively. I wasn't able to have my first selection of draft beer because they were having some trouble opening the keg. I was suggested another draft that I don't remember the name of but it was decent. Where it went a little south for me was the food. I will say the carne asada fries were solid. The chicken dishes were very disappointing. I had been craving chicken tenders and was met with nugget-sized beer battered looking things. They were a tad bit oily and I wasn't able to finish it and no one else in my party seemed to like them either. Same story with the chicken sandwich. Other than that, an OK spot for drinks and karaoke night with friends.

Yelp
My last review was more so stating facts. Nothing negative about giving others a heads up about parking, the restroom situation & knowing where to go or how to get there ... 2 stars doesn't make a difference to your 4.5 stars. Sorry you took it as a "bad review"! But how does, "beers are cold, food is served made to order, sunset's nice, live music's dope, staff is friendly & vibe is right!" sound?
google avatar

Mojo S.

Yelp
I think I would've liked this place more had we not stopped for drinks and food a bit earlier. Because of that I found myself comparing what I ordered at Project Barley and what I had ordered at the precious location. I kind of found the burgers that had been talked up by my party a little lacking. My Country Songs burger ended up being mostly bbq sauce for the first few bites. That was because the smashed burgers came in at a little under weight. I think the ratio reached equilibrium by the last few bites but I wish they had gotten that problem a little ironed out. The service was okay as the server behind the counter seemed cordial, but the whole time it was a very infrequent occurrence to see them come out to the floor. The ambiance was off too. It was loud with the live musical and people talking loudly to get over the noise and lack of space. All in all, good burger or not, this just doesn't seem like my kind of food joint.

Ngoc T.

Yelp
Got a quick bite. Saw the sign that said Happy hour $5 burger on Monday and tried it. The burger is juicy and smashed. They have trivia on Monday night, but we didn't stay long enough to play. It seems like a cool dive bar and where the local hang out.
google avatar

Kendal S.

Yelp
Project barley is a great vibe and to be honest in my opinion probably the most slept on dive bar in Los Angeles. Great spot and you have a view right by the water and marina at Redondo Beach that you can't get anywhere else. As far as the food, they say they are the best Smashburger in the Southbay, and in my opinion, that they do! The tacos were pretty good. The carnitas has the most flavor of all the taco options. It's easy to go right in and get your food quick right at the counter, they make the food, buzz your number , give you everything you want and have a tap full of drinks ready for you as well. Nice games. Great vibes. Great great spot. Cool themed nights.
google avatar

Ryna D.

Yelp
Came here with friends after dinner at Quality Seafood. It's a nice enough tap bar with decent brews. Wish the seating and overall setup were more comfortable but I won't mind coming back here again if in the area.

Michele T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time and was not disappointed! The service was friendly and fast! They have a lot of beers on draft and the bartender was very helpful with helping me decide, as well as offering samples. It overlooks the marina and the sunset was beautiful. A good place to unwind.
google avatar

Ed T.

Yelp
Very chill and laid back vibe. Good spot to hit for a quick bite and a drink. Whether you're hanging out at the pier or on a lunch break. The setup is a little janky. You line up to order with the bartender, pay, take the pager, find a table, wipe it down because no one working here does, now wait for the pager to buzz, stand up, collect your food from the other side of the bar, and sit down and enjoy your food. Service is hit or miss; nothing special. Tables are always dirty, sticky, and wobbly. Of course they have a tip prompt screen when you order.l, aside from handing me my drink, what else does the bartender do that merits a tip? Serious question.
google avatar

Jeri L.

Yelp
Went here for lunch smash burger combo is amazing. Not only was the burger delicious, the fries and seasoning were also amazing. The people that work there are kind and the food does come out fairly quick. Of course, being on the international boardwalk you have a great view. My only small critique is that tables were full of crumbs and I didn't see anybody wiping them down.

T L.

Yelp
Had the lunch special. The burger was great. The fries were delicious. And the beer did not disappoint. I'll be coming back here for sure.
google avatar

Toshi I.

Yelp
Came here for the smash burger but also to check out the live music scene here too since I happen to be at the pier. The burger was ok but the fact that there is regularly scheduled live music here from local bands is really cool. Each of the three Project Barley locations are unique with each their own dynamic and vibe. Definitely worth dropping by if you're visiting the area or if you are a local. Check out their IG for updates on who's performing!

Yelp
My daughter and I visited this place on Saturday, 08/16/2025. Our plan was to sit down, have a few drinks, and try the burger. When we went to place our order, the interaction with the cashier felt very negative, as if cashier didn't want to take our order. Because of that, we decided to take our burgers to go instead of dining in. The burger itself was good, but the overall experience could definitely be improved with better customer service.
google avatar

Val G.

Yelp
Great place to hear music, enjoy a beer or wine and some good food. We had dinner previously so we did not eat a meal but we did end up ordering a pretzel with both the beer cheese sauce and the Bavarian mustard. I much prefer the Bavarian mustard. They seem to have some other great meals that I might want to come back to including the burger and breakfast. I had an amber ale that was really good. Sorry that I can't tell you what it was called but the sign was small and the suggestion came from one of the bartenders when I asked if they had a red or amber ale. The music was good and we enjoyed a nice cool night by the docks.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
It seems like they have some great deals, and paying in cash is preferred. I ordered a guava cherry sour and relaxed under the sun for 10 minutes.
google avatar

Cecela V.

Yelp
Such a fun and low key place for lunch. The onion rings here are some of the best I have ever had. Batter stays on/ crispy/ flavorful and not greasy. Burgers and hot dogs with this side and a good beer- heaven!
google avatar

Henry P.

Yelp
Location is chill, right on the pier so was nice at sunset. Beer was decent, food was ok, nothing to write home about. Service was ok. Comedy night was fun and the atmosphere was chill. Overall not a bad spot and you're right there for churros after.. I'd go again but just eat ahead of time.
google avatar

Bill J.

Yelp
Great supporters of Live Music!!! Diverse menu, and of course, quality beers! 3 locations all recommended!
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Quite possibly the BEST smash burger in the South Bay, and more great beer choices than anyone ever needs. Ask Kara the bartender to sing for you, one of the most soulful voices you'll ever hear. Great spot, awesome view, cool stall and a chill vibe.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Great beer looking out into the harbor and ocean. Good food. Only problem we had was being there in what felt like the coldest day of the year! Will be back when the worm weather returns.
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
Barley Burger was very tasty, as well as the fries. Beers were excellent. The day was cool and breezy but beautiful nonetheless as the sun shined brightly through a gap in the marine layer whereas most other surrounding areas were overcast. Time well spent at a nice laid back low key place with friendly staff. I will be back.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
Great view, friendly staff, prices a bit lower than most neighbors, relaxed atmosphere. Food is ordered separately from alcohol, but otherwise everything is very quick. I got the Founder smash burger and the Enegren hef from the tap. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the two small-ish patties made it for just the right amount of meat. I think next time I'll ask for grilled onions (it comes with regular chopped onions, mustard, and ketchup) but I am very happy for what I got for $10 (pre tip). The Enegren was delightfully citrusy without being too sweet. Would have preferred a glass instead of a plastic cup, but at least the burger came in paper packaging. Parking kinda sucks, you're paying $2 an hour no matter what, but that's just the rules for the harbor. It seems lots of locals walk down here for a beer at sunset, which... well, I aspire to have that lifestyle.

Whit H.

Yelp
We hosted a private birthday event here. All aspects of the evening were fantastic. Such a great vibe at sunset, beer/bar offering was varied, and the smash burgers were tasty. Jess ran point for Project Barley and took great care of us.

Suzanne W.

Yelp
My group and I were at Barley's Next Door Bar, an affiliated business. It was perfect for us as we got there shortly after it opened, so there was space for about 15+ people, seated together. We had great service, enjoyed the views of the marina and that we could easily move around and talk to each other. The beer was tasty too! :-)

Steven T.

Yelp
Food was solid, but the cashier's energy was colder than the beer. Definitely didn't feel welcoming, more like picking and choosing who gets a smile.Could've been a decent spot, but honestly, In-N-Out is cheaper and treats everyone welcoming.
google avatar

Cristina H.

Yelp
Smaller beer selection compared to the behemoth that is Naja's next door but they curate their menu well. They have great food (the string fries are perfectly seasoned) and have breakfast specials on the weekend. Great service, beautiful views and they play several different football games on their various tvs and their smaller size means you can see the games from anywhere in the bar. Awesome place to bike to since it's right off the beach bike path.

Justin C.

Yelp
What more could you want? Amazing food (smash burger, tots, pretzel stellar) great vibe and service, reggae music, on the water. Could spend the whole day here. A gem
google avatar

Joann C.

Yelp
Beautiful location great food friendly help lively crowd good music that starts earlier then most restaurants
google avatar

Allen M.

Yelp
1 - seeing the cook/chef get into it with the musician was concerning. Then, seeing they cook continue to be shitting to the musician was even worse. Wouldn't stop being a dick to the guy. 2 - food was suspect at best. Pulled pork was mediocre at best. Then, had just a hotdog. The 1.50 hotdog at Costco blows this trash out of the water which was 6.50!!! What did I pay for??? Honestly, this food is trash AND the guy yells at musicians who are working hard??? Screw this place.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
What a FANtastic place to enjoy a cold beer, the Pier and the Best Burger in town! A hidden Redondo treasure! Their Lomita location is different and AMAZING!!!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
My burger was delicious and they have some very good beer also. The location has a nice view of the harbor and boardwalk. There was plenty of indoor seating available while I was there. The bartender was attentive to our needs, friendly, and knowledgeable.
google avatar

J J.

Yelp
Went here because of an Instagram review boasting about their smash burger. They were alright. Nothing big or outstanding about it. Open air restaurant, view of the dock. Service was cool, only person we interacted with was the guy who took our order at the counter, and he was pleasant.
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
First time @ Project Barley Food: I've never had a smash burger before - burger over cooked & too much sauce - nicely seasoned but not that crisp - very small burger & not many fries Service: Great hospitality Good personality Ambiance: Can't beat the marina on Monday Overall: I wouldn't recommend burgers or fries but I'd come back for the view and a cold beer

Scott J.

Yelp
Chicken nachos were awesome!! Also had the double smash burger and fries that were off the chart!!! AJ the bartender is the best around!! Great place to chill for an afternoon and listen to music or watch sports!
google avatar

Nicholas H.

Yelp
Bottom Line Up Front: A very enjoyable tap house showcasing what the Project Barley Brewery Team can do from their main brewery in Lomita. All local. All delicious. Great community. Good vibes. Partnered burger stand connected. Military/Healthcare/Airline friendly. Redondo location opened FEB 2022. They have a solid variety of beers they brew, but also offer guest taps as well. Reasonably priced craft beer (for LA) and full of flavor. Open Mic: WED. Karaoke: THUR. Live Local Music: FRI-SAT-SUN. Hours may be extended (never violating CA/LA law) based on customer activity. They also have 750 ml rotating bottles for sale. (Crowlers, Growlers and 6-packs available at the main brewery in Lomita.) Co-located/Partnered with Proudly Serving Burger for on site food service; see the Proudly Serving Yelp page for more info on them. Military, Heathcare, and Airline Industry friendly, offering a discount for those that serve our Country and fight to keep America the Land of the Free, those that fight to keep us alive in our darkest hour, and those and sacrifice to keep our country connected from Coast to Coast.

Yelp
Really good food & beer! I got the fish n chips, bacon wrapped hot dog sliders and gravy fries . The beer, I got the brown ale and the key lime sour, was awesome !
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
Nice place with good food. Right at the marina, too. Beer brewed locally. The tacos are spicy hot

Danner S.

Yelp
Overall, Positive - Amazing location, great vibe, tasty beer, good service. Negatives - Advertised as fries cooked in duck fat, they are not. Ownership changed and did away with that. Ordered Carne Asada Fries, undercooked, no seasoning, bland under seasoned beef, nursing home pico. No spice. I'll try it again
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
I like stopping by here for pint (or two) on the weekend or for one of the best burgers in town. Love that they always have at least 1 sour on tap. Music & vibe are on point and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Cheers!
google avatar

London B.

Yelp
Food is incredible! Ambiance is fine. It is small, but has a lot of character. Service was good. We really appreciated Elijah's informative recommendations. It was nice to speak to a local who had grown up in the area. The only thing weird was that you couldn't order a drink when/where you order your food. This requires one to wait in line twice (once at the food counter and once at the bartender station) unless you are content with water or bottled Coca Cola. There was no explanation given for why this is which is annoying and slightly frustrating. Apart from that, all is fantastic, and the food is so outstanding, I can't take a star away just for that inconvenience.
google avatar

Anneke B.

Yelp
Great food & beer! The service is excellent & the views are unbeatable! We love everything about Project Barley! They have love music on the weekends too! It makes for a great afternoon sipping adult beverages with some fun music to groove to. Pro-tip - if you are looking for something a bit lighter to drink, ask for a 50/50 of their cider & seltzer. It's really refreshing too!
google avatar

Nyssa W.

Yelp
All of the staff are friendly and helpful. I never had to wait a long time for my food or beverage. And they were ALL tasty! Ambience and music were fantastic !
google avatar

Dominique V.

Yelp
I dream about this burger. This is hands down the best burger in LA. The ambience as you enter the local watering hole is cozy and warm, from the friendly staff, to the craft beer, and the buzz of everyone enjoying the great food. This place is a 10/10. They even have duck fat fries. In France, potatoes fried in duck fat is the best. I haven't been able to find any places in the US, let alone LA, that do this and do this well. I will be coming back again and again and highly recommend you to try it for yourself.

yone m.

Yelp
Good ipa in a fun environment next to the beach. It's great for people watching. Nice place on a warm day to enjoy a cold beer.

Alex M.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday, they just started serving pancakes and breakfast burritos only on Sundays. I had the pancakes. They were great! My family and I sat and talked with the owner the whole time we were there. The bartender did a great job helping us find what we'd like to drink. I have a family member who has tinnitus so the quiet fall day was excellent for her.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
If you want a good Wednesday with cover songs, good music and great burgers , this is the place to be.

Amy M.

Yelp
Great ambiance. The bartender was able to select the perfect beer for the description I gave him of what I was looking for. The food was outstanding. The people who run the place are great conversationalists and amazing beer makers. We loved our time hanging out there and will definitely be back.

Sean L.

Yelp
Great place great food and great service . Beer was awesome with lots of choices that change on regular basis . The owner went out of his way to make sire we where happy

Julie H.

Yelp
Such a great place!!! Lots of drink options and the food is amazing. The best thing about Project Barley is the people who work there...especially JT, Miwa, and Jess. Oh...there's also the live music. This is truly our favorite spot on the pier!
