Proper Gander

Came here for valentines and weren’t disappointed. A small menu but in our experience that increases the chances of the food being fresh. Portions just right, service on the whole was very good although one member of staff was a little off that didn’t detract from the experience. Excellent food and a nice drinks choice.

Booked us in last minute, family of 5 on weekday, felt very much like a family business which I liked, the waitress was lovely and was nice seeing the chef work so we could thank him. Food was really good especially the lamb rumb and mint mash, really nice, the prawn tacos were nice also. My only one thing, pina colada I think del boy, cream, cherry, umbrella, this one tasted great but was served in short glass not a long glass, by that's more probably my expectation still tasted great. Went with three kids, 12/10/4 all enjoyed the food

What a truly brilliant place to start our holiday! The service we received was efficient and we felt well looked after. The food was amazing especially the scallops and cheesecake! Would definitely recommend to anyone for a special occasion or even just for a meal out.

Stumbled across this shiny new little gem while on holiday and it was the best meal of the trip. Very friendly, clean, and accommodating, really great food, we tried the whole starter menu and everything was beautiful. Proper good food, thank you!

Delicious food, presented well, fresh and filling. We stopped by for lunch and had our modest expectations blown away. The lunch portions were generous and priced remarkably well (£5 per main course). Also, the service and amenities were quite welcoming to our family as they provided high chairs and children's cutlery. Fantastic experience.

Not my cup of tea. Very limited menu and the only thing I liked (pork chop) they did not have so was given belly pork as an alternative which I could not eat. Very expensive, uncomfortable seating and no atmosphere, very dark. Was stood in the main entrance for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to greet us but they never did so we took it upon ourselves to go upstairs where we found the dining area. As we were leaving another couple were doing the same thing as there were no signs telling you to go upstairs just an entrance hall and an unmanned bar area. The 2 stars are because the desserts were very enjoyable. EDIT***** in response to the restaurant’s unhelpful reply, as stated I ordered pork chop which was on the menu, but was not available.

A big thank you to all at Proper Gander. We had booked for 7 for a Birthday party on holiday. Tried to get a Taxi for such a large group and failed. These guys stepped up and provided us with a 3 course take away meal and a birthday cake. The food was exceptional and enjoyed by all. Would highly recommend.

Top class dining experience. Beautifully presented food. Proper Gander is a real asset to Tywyn.
