Came here on a weekend visit to the Berkshires, and I'm so happy I did. The view of the lake is amazing from the outdoor seating, and the food is fantastic. Steak and cheese egg rolls, a burger, and a seafood player were all perfectly done. This is a great place to end a day of exploring this beautiful area.

Google
There are four things good about this restaurant. The view of the lake. The very nice server. The pear margarita. The little neck clams. Very disappointed! Especially after I googled restaurants with a View with good food since I’m on vacation! I would never go back. The Caesar salad dressing was not good and the lettuce was a little oily and wilted, a bit sour. The white anchovies were good! The scallops which cost $40, were overcooked and rubbery, not juicy whatsoever! Whoever seared them does not know how to sear scallops! Unacceptable! I guess I should’ve just got the pizza and the clams! So my bill was $87 plus a tip which I would never take it out on the server! 100 bucks up in flames! I’m sure they’re apologizing for the slow service and the food quality quite a bit! I saw a four top that hadn’t gotten a single bit of food in at least an hour! Sure, two older woman walked in and they got their fish and chips quick! Well, it’s fried, it’s the easiest thing to get out to the floor! Do better!

Jenny was the nicest waitress ever. She hooked us up with the best appetizers and entrees. We will definitely come back one day. Everything was delicious, and the view was spectacular.

Had my wedding at Proprietors Lodge in July, and I highly recommend booking your next event there! Leading up to the event I met with the wedding planner several times to go over the details. We did a food tasting which was a great experience. The day of the wedding Elissa and Candace were amazing to work with. They made me feel so comfortable, and executed everything perfectly. All the staff there did an amazing job. My wedding was absolutely perfect and I can't thank everyone at Proprietors enough!

Google
We sat at the bar and had Shannon as our bartender. We ordered the Berry salad with chicken, truffle fries and the Berkshire board which was a mix of olives, cheeses,a baguette, Cranberries and a bunch of other goodies. Food is always amazing here in our opinion. One nice day we’d like to sit out in the deck. Bartender was good, polite, friendly She Beautiful views of the lake as well!

Google
I’ve been coming here since its opening and this place absolutely has the best view in the area! Super fun to hangout at lunch or dinner with friends or significant other. Just glorious!! This last time came to celebrate my daughter’s 18ty birthday and the manager, Candace and staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly!! Yay!

Google
Decided to give this place a shot since our usual place Matt Reilly's closed and the Lakeside, which took over closed. The view is great!! The food is good but the staff seems overwhelmed. Hopefully they work out the kinks. Best of luck!

Google
we had my Mother’s wedding here about a month ago and everything went so smooth. Food was very good and Candace and the gang went above and beyond to make sure this day was special.

Yelp
I forgot to take a picture of my lunch. But I did take a great picture of the view. The food was good and everybody enjoyed it very much.

Jodi B.

Yelp
Lakeside ambiance is beautiful but it ends there. Food sub par and overpriced. Service extremely slow. Don't come here unless you're prepared for a simply dinner to be a 2-3 hour event.

Christine G.

Yelp
Sadly, the food was warm, not hot. Took forever for the waitress to get our order, then it took a long time to get our order. A simple pretzel, a pizza and an order of Mac and cheese. The pizza was missing a topping and they asked if they wanted to add it to the top after the fact. Needless to say I asked if they could remove it, even though the waitress said it was already in the computer. She never came back to ask how anything was or if we needed anything else. The food was subpar sadly, even though I have had good food there in the past. In case anyone asks, it was not busy. Took almost 2 hours total from the time we walked in to the time we left. Not worth the $65 it cost me.

Yelp
Two of us went to Proprietor's Lodge on a Friday night at least an hour before they close. The hostess took her time wandering over to assist us. When we asked for a table, she rolled her eyes and said they were closing soon. Guess they would rather go home early than have a thriving business

Yelp
I had brunch at the proprietary lodge. The food was okay but the ambiance was amazing. Looking over the lake was peaceful. The service was great. Overall had a good time.

Yelp
I'm shocked that I have not yet written a review as I spent quite a few lovely days & evenings here since I learned of it's beauty over the summer. !0 stars for the setting : the view of the exquisite Pontoosuc Lake, wide & lush, for the very caring service & the entire set up including plenty of parking & wide spaces inside, outside & lakeside. Drinks are fabulous, they had an extensive summer menu that included 2 full pages of BMD The food ? a bit of another story. Decent enough, often very good, sometimes disappointing. Order something that you know will be ok even if it is not the best version or exactly as expected. You are here for the warm setting & view, drinks. The food is an added benefit. Great is the Ahi Tuna, nice & rare with seaweed salad, pickled ginger & some drizzle to swipe. Mussels = good. Entrees such as the Pork chop on Spätzle & the Flat iron Steak served over a mound of delicious masked potatoes (no mention of them in the description, but they were great). Some of the sandwiches are ok, the burger. Not recommended is the Cesar Salad, really poor dressed with Kens dressing for something like 12 dollars. Fried Calamari. Out of the bag frozen rings, is unfortunate. The Nachos sound exciting but arrive as an unappealing heap. Keep it simple, when you return you can branch out a bit. It is my favorite venue in the Berkshires, just being able to sit on a huge patio with this view is amazing. Moon rise is beautiful right over the homes & trees in the distance, watching the jet ski's & pontoon boats in the summer. Nothing like it. Reservations in season a must. Great place to have a wedding too..

Yelp
I had lunch at Proprietor's Lodge Memorial Day weekend. What beautiful place and it has a wonderful veranda overlooking the lake with the Berkshire mountains in the background. Service was excellent and our server was very attentive. Lunch was serviced warm and our food was excellent. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine at the end of meal and we walked down to the shore and sat in Adirondack chairs provided by the lodge, taking in the view and warmth of the sun. I will be back and this is a wonderful restaurant with a 11 out of ten view. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Went there once and it was horrible. I had prime rib and wifey had some chicken dish. We were a party of 5 and no one liked their meal. How do you make prime rib flavorless?

Bruce A.

Yelp
Institutional ambiance striving to be someplace that doesn't belong in The Berkshires. Includes mediocre food and terrible pizza.

Melissa D.

Yelp
Not impressed with the food or the service team here, its way over priced and the manager is very rude too. Obviously no respect for some people. I will NEVER suggest this place
google avatar

Yelp
We had the Sunday breakfast buffett. The food was at best mediocre and Luke warm. The desserts were stale - leftovers from their dining room a day or more before would be my best guess. tried a bite of 3 different desserts- all very stale! $25 per person for what anyone would consider below average diner food. Highly dossapointed.

Yelp
The location is amazing! Right on Pontoosuc Lake! Our party sat outside which was beautiful because of the spectacular lake view. It took quite a long time to get drinks but once the waitress came over she was really great. I was surprised at how many things they had run out of which is discouraging when you are looking forward to having a particular meal. It also took a long time for our food to come out and I could see that being an issue for other patrons. All was fine though because the food was really really good! The clam chowder was a 10 out of 10 and the tuna was amazing! Oh, and the bathrooms were super clean which is always important to me. We will go back and give it another try in hopes the service is a bit better.

Susan O.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the view of the water was spectacular .The service was superb and the drinks at the bar were excellent. Highly recommend

Lael L.

Yelp
Beautiful setting right by the lake, but mediocre food. Service was friendly and efficient. Not too many vegetarian options.

Robert D.

Yelp
My wife and went there last Friday and I thought everything was good. Our Bartender was great and promptly on top of our beverages and food order. The Ambiance is great because they have a beautiful patio out by the lake tremendous views. Just wanted to tell everyone it is a great place to eat...

John S.

Yelp
Quality of food at Sunday brunch was below par with a school cafeteria. All seemed to be stale, luke-warm 2 day old leftovers.

Yelp
Sorely disappointed with our 2nd visit here. We were a party of 18 seated in the "fish bowl" found out they call it that after the manager ran out to our party as we were leaving to let us and everyone else in the immediate area know that we didn't leave a tip. Our host has worked there as weight staff in the past and he just assumed the policy was the same, you know, "Parties of 8 or more will be charged an automatic % gratuity added to the bill". We were seated at 3-6 foot folding tables, my plate balanced on a "bubble" of this plastic table. The filet mignon had a very distasteful demi glace and was not cooked to my liking (the food took an hour so I ate the whole thing anyway, I was very hungry) I'm most dissatisfied with the vegetables on my plate, why oh why would you serve frozen mixed vegetables at such a fine establishment??????? My husband threw away his leftover pizza as soon as we got home, who does that?? I understand short staff, supply chain and all that but frozen mixed vegetables??!!??!!!

Brooklyn N.

Yelp
service was so slow even though there were approximately only 3 other tables. on top of that my boyfriend order a chicken sandwich which tasted like it had gone bad. also we ordered a 45 dollar steak (medium) and it came out rare, at best! not a good experience for the high prices of food!
google avatar

Tom T.

Yelp
The Proprietors Lodge is a very unique venue that sports one heck of a view of Pontoosuc Lake. Come by and experience the wonderful hospitality of the Lyons family who run the front end of this fine establishment. The food is great, the banter is even better and views are second to none. You will love this place as much as I do.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner there back in October. Great service, great food and a beautiful setting we ever find ourselves back in Pittsfield. We will make sure to stop by again.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
On a beautiful night we sat outside by the lake - very nice view! I ordered the lobster newberg pot pie, my husband had meatloaf and my daughter had a steak. An hour and 20 minutes later we got our food! I don't blame our waiter Anthony but the kitchen was WAY backed up and the food was just so-so. Not much lobster to be found in the pot pie (mostly mushy potatoes, carrots and celery with a nice puff pastry crust!), my daughter's medium rare steak was medium well, and the meatloaf came out 5 minutes after the other two dishes! We won't be rushing back!

Yelp
Very scenic views while dining. It's a nice restaurant and food is pretty good. And the live music fits the atmosphere.

Karen K.

Yelp
This place is an amazing find. We are visiting from Southern California and was referred to this restaurant. There are not enough words to describe how fantastic this place it. The food is top notch, our server, Tanya, is lovely and this place is charming . We wish we lived in the area as it would be one of our go to places.

Yelp
Birthday celebration dinner with friends. First came our cocktails, all delicious and good sized (especially a fan of the pumpkin White Russian) we ordered appetizers, chips and French onion dip, the dip was more of a stiff spread and it didn't work with the homemade chips. Pretzel with cheese sauce was the BEST!!! Huge pretzel and the cheese sauce was absolutely delicious!!!! Want the recipe dinners, Mac & Cheese, a huge bowl full of cheesy richness , Pulled Pork BBQ pizza wasn't a fan, it was a strange combination of flavors that no one was a fan of, chicken almondine was delicious, mashed potatoes good, vegetable wasn't a fan roasted Brussels sprouts with some carrots, the dish was good but the price was high $25) my friend got the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly and had great flavors, random vegetables again not a fan, this dish was the winner of the evening. Excellent waitress, she was friendly and very attentive. Kudos!!!

Yelp
The biggest pro is its beautiful location on the lake. The sunset is magnificent. So, if you go, try to time your visit. The biggest negative is that it is incredibly noisy. I went with a small group of friends. In total, we were six people. I could not clearly hear what was being said unless the person was right next to me. And that was before the musical duo started. I was across the room and the sounds just ricochet. Some sound proofing would do this place a world of good. Next time I go, I will surely bring aspirin. But food is the main reason to go. They had a very interesting list of appetizers. However, with a salad bar, I skipped them. I think that was a mistake. The salad bar had really fresh lettuce and some nice vegetables, dolmades, and a few interesting items. Nothing spectacular, but pretty good. I ordered the grilled calamari in a pomodoro sauce. There sauce was excellent and delicious. But, there were hardly any calamari. And, that was a consistent complaint. The portions are very small. The swordfish was tiny and should be avoided. My wife's shrimp had six very large shrimp on it. So that seems to be a good choice. Itt looks like the steaks and chops are enormous. One of my friends had the pork chop special, which was enormous and I am told one of the best chops ever. So, I would send to go that way. It is a pity because the sauce on the calamari was so good. I have to say that I am not excited by this restaurant, yet. But it has promise. Maybe some drapes on the wall and some more time in the kitchen would help.

Tara W.

Yelp
A local brought me here. This is a large restaurant/bar/venue. Indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was nicely spaced out. I do wish the outdoor seats were bigger as they were uncomfortable on the sides for a curvier person. The view was great!! The food was pretty good and decent prices. Average portions. Will go there again.

Yelp
Delicious food. The patio is a gorgeous dinner spot with lovely lake and Mountain views. We had nachos with pulled pork (no photo) and they were very tasty. I had the Prop Trop Punch cocktail and then the braised pork Osso Buco as an entree. It was great. My husband had fish and chips, which is his *go to* meal most places- and he said it was very good. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and our waitress worked to take our appetizer order as soon as we were ready (noting that the kitchen was a little backed up and she didn't want us to wait too long.) No complaints about it the wait at all- it was very reasonable, and we enjoyed drinks and the lake breeze while we waited!

Helen K.

Yelp
Fantastic lake-side lunches!!! Great BLT; good selection of beers and wine. A hidden gem.

Howard M.

Yelp
Service and food was great. Our only issue was it's really loud inside to the point it's hard to have a conversation.
google avatar

Patricia P.

Yelp
While in the area after a relaxing day at the lake, we stopped at Propietator Lodge for a bite... The restaurant offers patio sitting with gorgeous view of the lake.. Atmosphere is relaxed. We enjoyed Martini cocktails along with Mussels. The service was slow but we did not mind... The mussels were so, so... Overall, a bit dissapointed but alright place to spend time enjoying outdoor.
google avatar

Jack K.

Yelp
We've been here all summer and didn't know about this place! The view is so good and the food is excellent! We had such a nice time at this hidden gem! They don't have a great presence online, but I'm trying to change that!!

Leah S.

Yelp
Went here with my family, food was okay but nothing crazy. We ordered the salmon filet dish which had good flavor and the lobster newburg pot pie which was not so good, lots of potatoes. Manager had a rude attitude when someone in my family didn't enjoy their meal and rolled her eyes as she walked away. Good atmosphere and good waitress though

Sara L.

Yelp
Our service for my grandfathers 88th birthday celebration was impeccable. We never waited to be served even as a large party. The steaks were cooked perfectly and service was fantastic. Thank you to the great staff!

Yelp
This is not the place to go to for Easter brunch. We had a 1pm reservation, sat later after all the 1pm people sat. We were told someone would find us to tell us when the table was ready. Nope, stand in line. The menu says, lamb, prime rib, omelets, etc. what is doesn't say, no mint jelly for the mutton. No mashed potatoes, but over cooked baked potato quarters. No gravy. Mostly breakfast choices, but no oatmeal. Nothing had a label, so everyone had to guess what was in container. Ok, I get a single egg Benedict, then waited and waited for an omelet to be created. Nice guy cooking, but only one cooking service. Slow. The guy who should be carving rib or lamb is also the waffle maker ?! Overall a very expensive breakfast, as there wasn't a lunch menu to work with. Last time you had scrambled eggs with prime rib? Awful menu, management Wish we choice better
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
Beautiful place, really great waitstaff, Maria! The wait ? Outrageous. We had 7pm reservations, and there was no way we were getting seated. Around 745, we were seated. They were over booked, not enough staff, and ran their waitstaff ragged. The food came around 900pm. They completely overextended themselves to make as much as they possibly could, and it severely backfired. We won't be back.

Kyle M.

Yelp
Good food and service! The staff was very friendly and the views were AMAZING! Will be back again!

Lisa U.

Yelp
Went for lunch. View is stunning. food was terrible. soup was not hot but was edible. sandwich was served on burnt toast. Chicken served on Caesar salad was chewy and had to be sent back and removed.

David L.

Yelp
The food has gone down hill. I know they are busy but it is basic pub food. Also I ordered a burger and it was raw inside. Then I ordered a chicken sandwich which was dry with NO seasoning. Most restaurants are short staffed but one waitress dropped a glass and walked away and no one cleaned it up and anyone could have stepped on it. After 30 minutes my husband offered to clean it up and then someone came out and cleaned it up. Also there was a broken chair and a kid almost fell over in it and they did nothing again until 30 minutes in my husband finally said something . We got our water at the beginning and no refills until I came inside to bar to get it myself. The location is beautiful but the quality of the food has significantly declined. It is just low quality for the prices. Sadly fast food would have been better.

Sadie D.

Yelp
Amazing Restaurant. beautiful view. I wish we discovered it earlier in our trip and not on the night before we headed home. We look forward to making the trip again soon!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner with my daughter while visiting. They sat us immediately. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The Patio was fully booked but we were sat at a high top where we had a beautiful view of the lake which was just as lovely. Our server Tess & Addy we're great and very friendly! My daughter had the chicken Almondine and I had the flank steak which was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. Highly recommend for dinner and hopefully you'll be lucky enough to sit outside on their beautiful patio overlooking the lake

Rav R.

Yelp
We made reservations for 2 nights during our annual family ski vacation. First night our service was exceptional. The waiter made a few drink recommendations and very attentive. The food was good and served in a timely manner. We were happy with our experience and gave the waiter a 35% tip. We looked forward to second reservation. We had a terrible experience during our second reservation. I ordered the drink special from the our first night. The waitress had no idea what I was talking about and served me the wrong drink but I didn't make a big deal about it. The waitress also failed to mention the featured drink "Cherry Pie Martini" and the price fixe menu option, both listed on the restaurants Facebook page. We ordered the chicken with broccoli and mushrooms in a cream sauce, kids pasta and salmon entree. We waited over an hour to get our food. Waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She checked on us two or three times during 1 1/2 hour experience with no explanation or for the long waitThe salmon was dry. My entree had the same pasta as the kids pasta with a dash of minced broccoli, few mushrooms and cubed chicken. Ten minutes after our food was served we left disappointed and hungry. The Proprietor's Lodge has a great location but inconsistent service and quality of food. The wait staff needs training. We had high hopes for this restaurant but will be dining at other restaurants in the Berkshires during next ski vacation.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday for the brunch. Maybe it was good earlier in the day but I could not tell what the scrambled eggs were. All brown and dried out. I ordered a fresh made omelet, but the chef had high heat on and it was a dark brown color. I did not like that they had no signs on anything identifying what it was. The carved meat looked good, although I did not have any. The fresh fruit on the salad bar looked really nice. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Good selections of beer available. We had a seat in front of the big windows and it was nice to Watch boats on the lake.

Samantha F.

Yelp
Gorgeous views. Nice staff. Servers are kind and helpful. Great location. Nachos and drinks were good.

Margie E.

Yelp
What a wonderful place! Located directly on Pittsfield's beautiful Lake Pontoosuk, whether summer or winter, as long as the sun is out it's wonderful to sit outside on the patio right on the lake. The food and drinks are wonderful. We are always amazed by the variety of soups they have and love the clam chowder but all of the soups have never disappointed. The lobster roll is a treat and is really packed with lobster!. Sometimes there is live music, and the desserts are varied and delish. I can't say enough about the staff. They would go out of their way to do anything to make your experience a positive one and in fact they do!

Kathy H.

Yelp
If you're looking for Sunday brunch, Proprietors is a great choice. Very wide variety of breakfast/dinner food and everything was delicious. The beautiful view of Pontoosuc lake and the Berkshire mountains was a bonus.

shelly i.

Yelp
I've eaten here three times in the last 2 years and was never really disappointed until tonight. I had the chicken almondine which was pretty dry and bland. The mashed potatoes were also pretty bland and a little dry. We did go later in the evening,, close to closing time though so maybe that had something to do with it. I will probably try again as the view and atmosphere and staff were all wonderful. The food tonight was just meh but I understand everything and everyone have off days.

Yelp
Took my brother from Rhode Island here for his birthday tonite , very disappointed as we waited almost 2 hours and never Got our entree salad bar Was not replenished low on Everything rolls dressing and Parmesan cheese crumbs for Croutons . Had to Reach under salad bar and Almost had to climb in the salad bar to reach anything. Think they need some longer tongs. So yes we did leave hungry but they offered us Dessert!!! How sweet , not my first rodeo with this bad experience there and a table of 6 and another table of 4 also left hungry next time I'll listen to what people say My bad !!!!

Yelp
"The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." Albert Einstein We went to the lodge for our third (and FINAL) time last night. I can't understand how an establishment like this continues to be not good. Our first terrible experience was when they first opened, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Awful waitress and mix reviews of good and bad food. The second time was meh. Decent apps, great salad bar, and again, not so great entrees. Last night was just the worst. Ordered nachos as a starter. We got toasty brown chips with unmelted shredded cheese, cold beans, and a few other toppings. I can make better nachos in my microwave at home. We put in our dinner order when we put in the app order. An hour and twenty minutes later, still no dinner. Not to mention a very absent waitress. At one point we had to ask the hostess to get us another round of drinks because our waitress hadn't been to our table for well over 30 minutes, and then AGAIN having to ask the hostess about our food. We finally got our food and it was underwhelming to say the least. Dry steak (not even any steak juices on the plate!) with a side of garlic butter that should have been on the steak, rubbery veggies, and good mashed potatoes. I got the ravioli in a garlic and wild mushroom sauce. It was pretty bland and basically just six (once frozen) ravioli with a garlic sauce and a few small whole mushrooms. And none of the food was hot. We moved over to the bar area to chat with some friends. There were two ladies behind us at a table that had been waiting 15 minutes for a waitress to come over! They finally got up and just left. The hostess and waitress were super apologetic after the complaints.

Charlie H.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try this new establishment in Pittsfield this past Sunday, we arrived at 6:55, walked to the downstairs, no one greeted us, so we seated ourselves at a table in the bar area. After the bartender walking past us at least 3 times and never even acknowledging that we were there, and at least 10 minutes passing we left. There appeared to be three other service people working, but they seemed to be hiding in the kitchen. We won't go back!!!
