Protea Hotel Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton

We had a brilliant night in a ground floor junior suite (myself and my 2 teenage children). They kept luggage whilst went off on safari and then came back for 3 nights in a first floor junior suite. Room service toasties and chips excellent. Bull Run restaurant attached was fantastic. Beds were comfy and air conditioning worked really well. Staff were all super helpful

Would have given it a solid 5 had it not been for the noise at night despite being in the quieter part of the hotel. Plus my colleague had the unpleasant surprise to have his room opened by supposedly 2 security guards in the middle of the night on the second night of our 1 week stay there. The staff on the other hand were super helpful and nice and words cannot express my gratitude to them. Always ready to help and ensuring that the hotel is super clean. Big thanks to the chef in the restaurant and the omelette lady.

I was on a very quick business trip for two nights and stayed in this lovely hotel. Their service was excellent. The staff very friendly. My room was made up with all of my things that had been laying around in a rush, organized and put in place. Excellent job room cleaners. My tour guide was excellent and showed me many things I would have missed.||One thing I didn’t know was that there was a mall attached to the hotel. I would have liked to know that as I didn’t bring enough clothing and u could have picked up something🤔||If I ever have the chance to return to Johannesburg this is where I will stay.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Front desk staff were friendly and the housekeeping was done to a very high standard. They operate a free shuttle to Nelson Mandela square every 30 mins, but you could also walk (if you feel safe doing so) as it is just a short walk from the hotel. The hotel has a beautiful garden which I could not enjoy because this was a work trip and I had a busy schedule.

We stayed here several days in between travels. The staff was very friendly and always wanted to do something for you. They were always cleaning and the place was very clean and comfortable. I spent time in the lobby and its was very relaxing. They staff was always happy to see us. Thanks for being a comfortable place away from home.

Great location close to many amenities and restaurants in the Marc Centre next door. Parking in the shopping centre car park with lift access direct to the hotel. ||Modern hotel, with nice clean rooms. Can be a long walk if allocated a room right at the back.||Good facilities, but really spoiled by the location if on business or pleasure. ||We were having dinner at Saint next door so perfect for us.

The best hotel in South Africa. Always made to feel at home. Comfy rooms, great location, amazing food, and most of all the best hotel staff ever. The facilities are unique, clean, and luxurious. There is a hotel gym but pay the small fee for the Planet Fitness in The Marc.

I had a hard time choosing which Protea Marriott to stay in JoBurg. I'm glad I settled on this one due to it's location and amenities. The service was great and friendly, and the Planet Fitness amenity was a nice surprise. The water pressure was phenomenal and the bed linen was perfect. Breakfast buffet was decent, but not amazing. The hotel shuttle to the mall and train station were very convenient.
