Protea Hotel Polokwane Ranch Resort

Visited The Ranch Farm Hotel while in the area for my UNISA graduation, and I’m so glad I took the time to explore. The place is beautiful and serene, with lovely grounds and a peaceful atmosphere. Even though I wasn’t staying overnight, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re around Polokwane!

You guys serve the worst food ever. The service is extremely bad.. I keep getting the same experience over and over again. I returned my plate, because it was burned and had lots of blood in it. The manager took the plate back and said that they are sorry and they will fix it. Had to rush back to an event on the other side and collected after. I was packaged the same meal.. you guys are the worst.. angry 😡 I will post a picture of a meal I paid R350 for..

Pre-covid, we were frequent guests and this was our first holiday here post-covid. Unfortunately, disappointment set in very quickly at breakfast, at 10am, 4 chafing dishes were empty with promises of the items being refilled. The frozen chicken strips were dropped into piping hot oil causing splashing of the hot oil and resulting in the outside cooking faster than the inside. Upon seeing the raw chicken, no attempt to fix the problem, just a sorry. Hot water lasts for a max of 10 minutes. Bathrooms need to be revamped, we had 4 rooms and shower heads and toilet seats were broken.Pool is more luke warm than heated. It's a beautiful location but standards have dropped, definitely won't be returning.

We enjoyed a very good breakfast. The service was good, with very friendly staff. An amazing property, with swimming pools, Mashie golf - 12 holes, an Equestrian centre, Game drives, well appointed conference facilities.

We’ve been going to this hotel as a family for years and for the first time I was really disappointed in our trip. The service was the worst it has ever been, the cleaning staff had an attitude, the guests around us were unruly and inconsiderate of anyone else around them. Still a beautiful venue with lots to do for the kids.

My family goes here every year around Christmas. They offer a great family experience. The kids have the time of their lives. It is very beautiful, and well taken care of. Lots of fun add-on activities to choose from. The staff is the friendliest.

As far as I can remember this has been a destination to celebrate special occasions due to the beautiful setting and great food and service. Coming back after being away for eight years, on arrival it was the same smart, well kept resort. We had booked for lunch and the disappointment slowly crept in. Service was slow, our waiter had had little or no training, limited language and no knowledge of the menu. Two at the table ordered ribs, only to be informed 10 minutes later they had none. He could not tell us what the vegetables of the day were and eventually took me to a Bain Marie and showed me roasted carrots and pointed to another container informing me that’s the second veg but it must go in the oven and there will be a wait. Once orders had been changed the food took a long time to reach the table. The steaks and eisbien’s were very tasty. The fish was dry and no sauce with it at all. The cherry on the top is the dining room then became a laundry room with the tables being stripped and just dumped in a pile to be sent to|Laundry, in addition the knives and forks were being washed in buckets in full view of everyone. Not the service that we remembered and were used to.

Great service! Great food! Beautiful place! Will definitely be going back for the game drive and spa experience.
