A friend told us about Protest Kitchen, and I’m glad she did, everything was practically perfect!
The guys working here are all very nice and helpful. Even though there was a wait, we were seated faster than the time they quoted.
The restaurant is small, so the menu is similar, but everything we tried was spot on! The falafel was probably the best I’ve had in a very long time. It was cooked perfectly. It was served on a bed of hummus which they apparently make as well! Absolute perfection!
The salmon and bagel, called No Avocado on the menu, was wonderful. Although the bagel was super fresh and chewy, it wasn’t a NYC bagel where you could layer salmon on top. But I enjoyed it nonetheless and ate every bite!
My friend was more than satisfied with the sausages. He said they were delicious and the perfect size.
As we were paying, I discovered some baked goodies in the corner. So of course I had to get the large gooey brownie! So glad I did. Unlike other brownies in Porto, it had the right balance of sweetness, balance of chocolate, and gooeyness! Kudos to their chef!
My takeaway from my experience today was that the staff was friendly, the food was all amazingly fresh and well balanced, and everything seemed to be homemade with love!
So, Protest Kitchen is worth the wait and a restaurant you must visit.
To visit, walk or take an uber. Although there is street parking, it’s Porto, so good luck finding a spot.
The restaurant is mostly accessible, but a wheelchair will not fit into the restroom. Everyone else should be fine.
We will be back, I’m already planning another visit!
