When you see the red light glowing on the southern exterior wall of the restaurant, The Parlour Amaro Bar is open. Michael makes spectacular cocktails. Provenance proper isn’t half bad either!

Phenomenal meal. I am a communications professional who is lost for words to describe how amazing the meal was. In over 14 dishes served there was not one that wasn't perfect. There was a number of dishes I wouldn't have ordered for myself as I wouldn't have thought I would like it, only to have them and realise I was completely wrong as they were spectacular. This restaurant deserves every perfect review they receive.

Loved the way four little dishes were served in three ensuing bento boxes. Removed that oooh ah of 12 individual dishes. With all those flavors and ideas obs there were going to be things you liked better than other but that seemed to be the culinary journey. Delicious little puddings to finish, as well. It’s expensive and the owner/chef/waiter was a bit off hand but you are there for the food and with luck, good friends, like we were. We had a great time

Splendid accommodation and excellent Japanese based degustation menu. We had a wine and sake pairing and enjoyed every bite and every sip!

We had the absolute pleasure of dining here on our visit to Bright. The food was well portioned and inventive and well presented. Every dish was made with care and showcased not just produce of the region but the chef’s skill. Staff were helpful and conscientious without being obsequious. The desert was not much to look at but absolutely blew my mind! We will be back!

We were fortunate to eat at Provenance on a quiet Monday night. We enjoyed the meal immensely. So many varied tiny dishes with a fabulous array of tasting. Highlights for me were the whipped roe with pickled cucumber, the fish skewer with pickled daikon, and the rice pudding with stewed apple (I’m a sucker for rice pudding). She mentions the bbq squid and the sashimi with beetroot and pomegranate. I enjoyed a local Vermentino and a Tempranillo. A memorable experience - reflecting a lot of care, skill and imagination. ❤️

Very average food for the $170/head set menu and loads of pickled vegetables (which meant my wife couldn’t eat half the dishes even though she mentioned dietary requirements, it often meant she missed a protein dish and just had daikon instead). They are certainly taking advantage of their reputation. Far better modern Japanese interpretations in Daylesford or Bright.

I highly recommend this place! It’s my partner’s and my favorite local restaurant for celebrating special occasions. The food is the best Japanese fusion cuisine I’ve ever had. Each dish is beautifully presented in the traditional kaiseki ryori style—small plates reminiscent of a fine multi-course Japanese meal—but with a creative and respectful Western twist. Having eaten a lot of Japanese food, I found this truly impressive! The service is warm and welcoming, and the restaurant’s design is intimate, thoughtfully detailed, and full of character. Thank you, and we can’t wait to return!

Stay: Absolutely treat to be spending 2 nights here The entrance and front yard and the smart use of a heritage building give you a real unique combination of European charm and modern Japanese decor on the interior. Our Saturday morning came with a full in-room breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Highly recommended for a weekend retreat. 5/5 Food: The restaurant, with its prestigious 2-hatted status, set high expectations, but the experience didn't fully meet them. I can only speak to the summer menu during our January stay. Highlight for me was the dessert with cherries, fig leaf gelato and almond jelly. Some of the dishes are on the saltier side and lack balance. But all in all, refined and showed elements of fusion Japanese cuisine, but it fell short of the excellence expected from a 2-hatted establishment. 4/5
