I Planned My Wedding From 3,000 Miles Away for $3,000 — Here's How

"I reached out to what I consider one of the most beautiful libraries in America and was given access to The Providence Public Library's gorgeous entrance area — complete with ballroom chairs, a prep suite, and a few fun extras the librarians surprised us with — for $1,250 total, far less than the average venue cost; as a bonus, we even signed our wedding certificate in the records room of the first newspaper I ever worked for." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. I photographed a wedding at the Providence Public Library, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. This venue is truly one of a kind—its architecture, grand staircases, and beautiful reading rooms create an elegant, timeless backdrop that elevates every moment. The staff were wonderful to work with: organized, welcoming, and attentive throughout the entire event. Everything ran smoothly, which allowed the couple to fully enjoy their day and made my job as a photographer effortless. If you’re looking for a venue that blends history, charm, and stunning visual character, the Providence Public Library is a standout choice. I highly recommend it for anyone planning a wedding in the area! —Brett Crawford Photography

I've photographed a few weddings at the Providence Public Library in Providence, RI, and it is always nothing short of breathtaking. This venue is a dream for couples who love history, elegance, and stunning architecture. From the grand marble staircases to the soaring ceilings and intricate details throughout, every corner feels like a work of art. The natural light streaming through the windows makes for absolutely gorgeous wedding photos, and the library’s unique charm creates an unforgettable atmosphere for both ceremonies and receptions. The bridal suite is huge and feels like something out of a fairytale, providing the perfect space for getting ready in style and comfort. The staff are warm, organized, and attentive, making the entire day run seamlessly. As a professional wedding photographer who has worked at many venues across New England, I can say with confidence that the Providence Public Library is one of the most beautiful and timeless wedding locations for couples who want a truly magical celebration.

SUPERSTARS!! I can't say enough about the Adult Education Team here, my interactions with the bilingual and computer learning skills staff seems designed for every participants successful completion. If they feel you belong at a different level, they graciously accommodate your needs ⭐ There's so much to do and see in this Library that's great for all ages. Stop in if you're looking for courteous, friendly staff in what is a great social scene. ✨ This Library seems to be the place to be.

My daughter had her wedding Friday August 1st. I cannot say enough about everything. From the minute we walked in, we felt special. The staff, the food and the venue were amazing. We keep getting calls from family and friends complimenting everything.

Gorgeous place when you walk through it. Reading silent rooms and private study rooms (a great place to work on a laptop but no food or drink allowed inside) I love the side rooms. Super beautiful building but with a new updated front entrance (not a fan myself but it is better than before) They have public wifi available even in the parking lot if you don’t want to leave your car.

Was looking for a #starbucks when i came for a day in Providence and chanced upon this place by #empirestreet. Loved the open clean space. The staff were friendly, approachable & helpful. This is a very pleasant discovery. Been to a few public libraries and this one above par. Lots of seating upstairs and downstairs. There are also several terminals if you dont have your own computer to use. The tables and bar areas have power plugs so you can literally hop onto any one and be ready for work. Wifi is pretty steady & strong, too. This library is close to the #dunkindonutcenter, so it isnt hard to miss. Long hours open except on Sundays when it is closed for the day.

I love Providence Public Library! The library is extremely clean and well taken care of. There are plenty of quiet rooms / places to study, and there are also meeting rooms available for group work. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a piano room as well. The staff here are very friendly; I was greeted by a gentleman working in the front desk and he gave me mask and also a tour around the library. Overall a great experience! I will be coming here often. Update April 2023: I came back to the library today and it is even better now! There is truly something for everyone: Are you thinking about starting a small business? There are FRRE workshops regularly. Are you trying to learn basic English? There are FREE English classes for beginners. Are you preparing for your naturalization interview? There are FREE classes and resources to help you go through it. Are you a teenager who is looking to get tutor? There are FREE tutors for you. In addition, I noticed today that in the women bathroom, there are free period products for women to use. I have not been to many places that provide free women feminine products. I honestly appreciate this thoughtfulness so much! Another nice surprise today was that there were really awesome display of 450 million year timeline and organisms that were made entirely from recyclable materials like cardboard boxes. I guess they really hit a few birds with 1 stone with this project: education about history and organisms, raise awareness about the importance of using recyclable materials to achieve sustainability, and display of creativity and amazing arts. All libraries should be like the Providence, RI library :).
