This is a nice little museum. I've been twice over the years and once they featured artists from further afield; this time the focus was on artists who at one point called Provincetown home. The art on display is of diverse styles which is nice. The downside is that they don't have much on display. With minimal space, choosing a minimalist art display is a bit of a head scratcher. There is plenty of room on the walls and plenty of floorspace to add more from their collection to make it an art museum worthy of an art crazed town like Provincetown.

I always visit this lovely museum when I'm in Provincetown.

I was extremely disappointed that I was not allowed to freely view the 12x12’s when I was at the museum yesterday. I have bid on many pieces in the past and am a proud owner of an encaustic that I was fortunate enough to “win”. Yesterday, I was told I had to pay the full price of admission in order to view the works for sale which are in a separate room, separate from the other collections. I have supported the 12x12 project in the past because I value the work of local artists, many that may not have the opportunity to show in galleries. I was told by the woman at the front desk that I could view the pieces online. Well, everyone knows viewing art online hardly comes close to the emotional connection one can experience when seeing art in person. I don’t feel charging a fee to view a fund raiser and valuable community outreach makes any sense.

Enjoyed a quick visit to this small museum. Wasn't the biggest fan of the collections on current display but the space, faculty and location were all fantastic. Im sure they have some really great expo's that come through. Free entry after 5pm on fridays!!

Surprisingly extensive. An impressive permanent collection of late 19th century and early 20th century American works by artists who taught and worked on The Cape including Charles Webster Hawthorne, Edward Hopper, Hans Hoffman, and others.

I love this place. It is a very creative and dynamic museum. Their members shows are wonderful and approachable. There is an openness and broad view of the arts that is incredibly refreshing.

Google
Great if you love modern art and local artists. Very few older pieces, so if that's what you're looking for, I'd say it's not here. The staff are so sweet.

Yelp
Paid $160 to upgrade to NARM membership (6 tix). This museum only honors 1 ticket (?). Not a great policy- would have gladly left a donation had the experience been better. I own an art gallery, sat on the board of a contemporary art museum and have supported the arts for years. Penny wise, pound foolish way to encourage philanthropy.

Yelp
This should be a destination spot for any artist or art enthusiast visiting Provincetown. The building has been renovated and expanded since I last lived in town. The juried and curated shows that I've viewed since being home have been both diverse and engaging. The work on display, spans from Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist Painters which Provincetown was a seaside haven for, to Installation Art and New Sculpture. Also there are a wide variety of events including Artist talks, Music, and Film screenings.

Yelp
Really, stop in and get some world class art. Sit in the lovely front garden and watch the strolling masses. Use the great bathroom and give em a tip!

Yelp
A small, lovely, and easily digestible museum. It was a pleasure to see (mostly) local artists and their phenomenal work. Plus, walking over there on Commercial Street shows off many wonderful galleries along the way.

Yelp
My partner and I visited the museum today. As someone who visits at least a dozen art museums annually, I left feeling very underwhelmed. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Sidney Simon exhibit as well as a couple of the Edwin Dickinson paintings, I was disappointed that more of the permanent collections wasn't exhibited. I was also disappointed to learn that the catalogue for the permanent collection cost a whopping $70.

Yelp
Love this place!! Highly recommended. Friendly staff, great artwork. Love their 12 x 12 art auction every year benefitting PAAM. If you are in the area it's definitely worth a trip. .

Yelp
A wonderful small museum! The perfect size for an afternoon visit. View world-class works and learn about Provincetown's important art scene - after all it's the birthplace of American Modern Art. 4-5 different galleries all offer a variety of paintings, sculpture and photographs. And, great building too! It's close to the commercial galleries - so include it in your Friday night stroll through the East End.
