"There's another sandwich shop on island called Provisions, and they have something called the Turkey Terrific. It's a Thanksgiving sandwich, so it has literal stuffing on it. It's the best thing ever—just a dream."

Grabbed the original breakfast sandwich here - pretty good although I’d have liked some sauce or seasoning to add to it. Coffee here is good too. Limited seating in the restaurant.

Google
Got a late lunch, early dinner. Luckily before they closed. Shared a ham and cheese sandwich. Fantastic taste. Loved the Cuban mayonnaise. Quick service

I had a sandwich from here a couple years ago and it was great. I think it was an Italian type sandwich. I just remember it was really good. I think It's behind the gazebo- I believe that's why this popped up Now- because I was at the gazebo last week-Enjoying the obligatory mudslide, which hmm, they do amazingly. I am sad to report there were no Montucky Cold Snacks - but anyways, keep up the good work provisions!

Dilyana Dobrinova

Google
Best sandwiches on the whole island! I always get the Italian or the Chicken salad. My husband had the Turkey Terrific and he loved it, now he wants to go back for the rest, too.

Liza Steele

Google
Always a first stop when on Nantucket I have tried many sandwiches over the years… but the turkey terrific will always be my favorite!

Google
Service was good. Chai Latte, mocha and gluten, dairy and soy free latte with oatmilk were all great!

Provisions is a cafe located in Straight Wharf. After tried multiple recommended restaurants in Nantucket, such as CRU, Galley Beach, Topper’s, Le Languedoc Bistro, Millie’s, Nautilus, and The Chanticleer, I decided to eat something lighter. So I tried Provisions signature turkey terrific sandwich, though in general I seldom eat fast foods including sandwiches. But I do feel its turkey terrific sandwich is worth to try. The bread is fresh and soft, slightly warm, and the sandwich tastes good. I do not think it’s “legendary”, but it is very good.

Daniel Dubovy

Google
Strongly don’t recommend if you enjoy a good coffee or latte. 12oz latte usually has 2 shots, they only put one. Bagel and cream cheese was pretty good.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Delicious original breakfast sandwich piping hot. Really good coffee and iced coffee.

Heidi M.

Yelp
Really delicious sandwiches but like most things on this island - very overpriced for what it is! I got to try the famous Turkey Terrific, which was great but for almost $18 I'm not sure if I'd do it again. Worth the try, but maybe just once. The breakfast sandwich ($10+) can be skipped. The curried chicken salad sandwich on the other hand... tempting. I may or may not do that again for $18. For the cost it's on the smaller side and just wish it was at least a bigger portion, but they are really great sandwiches made with such fresh ingredients. Convenient location, perfect for grabbing before you hop onto the ferry, but remember to account for lines - it can get pretty busy here.

Paul F.

Yelp
$18 for a turkey sandwich??!! Deli meat turkey, not fresh. Skimpy with the avocado. Seriously?? Won't be coming back here

Kislev A.

Yelp
PROVISIONS is conveniently located near the pier and practically in the midst of downtown. Found the most selection of Nantucket Crisps. Short line to order, and it's pretty quick. ORANGE SCONE and RASPBERRY CREAM CHEESE CROISSANT are pretty good.

Amy W.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches on Nantucket. The Turkey Terrific is so famous - they even sell t-shirts about them here. A turkey terrific is on Portuguese bread, with smoked sliced turkey, stuffing, cranberry and mayo. - perfection! I don't know if this was an anomaly - but the one we ordered had WARM stuffing - which really sent it over the top. Half is really all you need - so find a friend!

Crystal R.

Yelp
Most likely the best sandwich I've ever had. I'm not a fan of cold sandwiches but their sandwich changed my mind! There is not much seating indoors but there are benches outdoors. It has a huge to go following also. I HIGHLY recommend it! There appeared to be a coffee/pastry case for breakfast also. It's near the ferry dock also which is a plus!

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Quick service. Bagels were super soft and fresh! Delicious sandwich. Small shop. Only a few seats inside.

Glenn G.

Yelp
We were scouting out places to grab a quick lunch and ducked in to check out the menu. We were impressed by the "next level" sandwiches and came back just as the lunch rush was starting. We enjoyed our selections (e.g., curried chicken salad) and a lovely local hibiscus mint drink. The staff was young and friendly. It filled up quickly while we ate, so it definitely seems like a popular lunch spot.

Chris M.

Yelp
I got of the ferry and went into Provisions to get a bite to eat. It was very crowded. I placed my order for a deviled egg sandwich and and black coffee. There was o line per se, just a bunch of people milling around the cash register and waiting for their order. Business is good. I sat outside on one of the benches and savored my sandwich. If I ever am looking for a sandwich while in Nantucket, I will be sure to remember this place.

Megan W.

Yelp
This was my first stop after landing on the island! I heard such great things about their sandwiches so I had to grab a bite to eat here when I was starving from being on the plane. I ordered the Caprese but unfortunately they were out of the ciabatta that it comes on. I came during early lunch too so I was a little sad that they were already out of the bread. Instead, I got it on Portuguese bread which still taste great. I love the heavy bite of tomato/basil and cheese and the pesto. I also picked up a refreshing Nantucket Nectars juice! You can grab it to go and eat it wherever, but there is also public seating around and a great view ahead to enjoy your food at.

Deanna Y.

Yelp
Provisions' Turkey Terrific sandwich is a cult favorite and is so well loved by my family that it's often the first meal when arriving on the island! The sandwich offers blissful bites of Thanksgiving with slices of deli turkey, a generous layer of stuffing and cranberry sauce, and a smear of mayo on white bread. I occasionally recreate the sandwich at home to remind the hubby of his summers in Nantucket growing up. They offer a variety of baked goods, kettle chips and of course, Nantucket nectars. There's a couple benches out front if you want to enjoy your sandwich right away. Go-to shop for a quick, relatively affordable and satisfying meal. Sandwiches are about $12 each. CASH ONLY!

Ashley N.

Yelp
Visited this place for a meal as soon as we got off the ferry in Nantucket. My sister and I both ordered their Terrific Turkey sandwich and it was delicious! It's basically thanksgiving in a sandwich. It comes with Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and a sauce. We both devoured our sandwiches. It was one of the better things we ate in Nantucket during our stay.

james b.

Yelp
Friendly staff but mediocre food at a very Nantucket price point. Had the thanksgiving sandwich and it was incredibly disappointing for $17ish.

Apple A.

Yelp
The young, slender brunette female cashier working on Monday 8/8 stole money from me. I stopped in to grab a cold drink to go on a muggy afternoon. She seemed annoyed and acted as if she couldn't be bothered. Then I saw that she added a 60% tip for herself (for such exceptional service) when I got my receipt by email.

James H.

Yelp
"Fakin' Bacon" is the title of this diatribe. I came in on a busy Sunday morning with hopes of a nice bite while My girlfriend and I puts around and look at tchotchke's and kill some time until the hour when it's reasonable to have a few cocktails. We ordered a couple of "original". Sandos. It's the OG, it's gotta be good and they gotta be able to deliver right ? The menu detailed A nice spin on a breakfast sandwich with frittata and chipotle jam, woo wee! FALSE. No chipotle jam. And no bacon. There was enough bacon on my lady's sandwich to barely feed a church mouse. Picture includes for details. The crunch of fried pig and exotic jam was lacking, as was the overall experience that sucked an hour of my day.

Laurie I.

Yelp
Great great sandwiches. sorry they were closed for the weekend when were were there but loved the sandwiches we go on the first day. We had the tuna and it was super yummy

Julia S.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast sandwiches! Hearty, unique combination with detail to each ingredient. No-frills atmosphere inside with places to sit outside and close to the water outside. Great stop on a bike ride or before the beach.

Woodfinn L.

Yelp
Went to order breakfast 2 weeks ago around 9:30 am. Got to the front of the line and they said they were entirely out of all breakfast ingredients (how a deli with breakfast service simultaneously runs out of all eggs, English muffins, bagels, bacon, lox, and frittata is beyond me.) went back today. Arrived around middle of breakfast service. Got to the front of the line and they said they were out of all 7 types of bagels. Considering 2 of the four breakfast items involve bagels, that's not great. I ordered egg sandwich on English muffin ($9 and they hold device out and watch as you select tip amount. Can we stop with the tips on counter service already). I waited on nearby bench over 30 minutes for my food. When you are only offering two menu items for breakfast, neither really customizable, it shouldn't take over a half hour. Requesting a tip is even more egregious given the abysmal speed and service. Food was tasty enough, but was essentially an egg mcmuffin at 4x the price and 1/60th the speed. Decent food but bordering on unacceptable service and value. They should be thankful they have a captive audience on the island

Jessica H.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch after getting off the ferry. I got the BLT and it was phenomenal! Crispy bacon, soft and fresh herbed bread, and thick slabs of ripe tomato. Service was a little slow, but it was super busy. Would definitely go back!!

Usman L.

Yelp
Cool little sandwich place right at the wharf a stone's throw from the High Speed Hy-Line Ferry. A great place to grab sandwiches on the way to/from the ferry or for a picnic/hike/beach trip. We sampled the Turkey Terrific which was interesting to try and very filling. Cash only, so be aware. One lady after me had no cash, no ATM card, and only an American Express. Not a smart idea for the island where many places take cash only and American Express is rarely accepted due to the high fees. Leave your platinum card behind unless you want to go hungry!

Alli G.

Yelp
I stopped in here after *hours* of weighing the pros and cons via Yelp of the many sandwich shops in Nantucket's downtown. I ordered the 'other turkey sandwich,' and it was phenomenal!! It was full of turkey, guacamole, cheese, bacon, and arugula. Plus the pickled red onions and horseradish mayo were delicious! The bread was the softest bread I've ever tasted. It was like eating a cloud. Honestly, this may have been the best sandwich I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of sandwiches! The staff was friendly and the full sandwich ($12) could easily make 2 meals, if you're a light eater. I couldn't find any napkins in the cafe or a restroom or wifi, but everything else was great, and I would definitely return here for that incredible sandwich!!

Patricia C.

Yelp
Delicious & fresh! Literally in the top 2 best caprese sandwiches I've ever had. The bread!!! And the turkey with stuffing was amazing too!!!! Yum!

Cynthia E.

Yelp
Always a long line out the door for this quality sandwich shop! A definite staple of Nantucket with ferry goers flocking to the proverbial provision dock for the "original" bacon egg sandwich (please add crushed avocado for a little something extra)--beware that their breakfast closes at 10:30! On comes the lunch menu, we had egg salad sandwich which had a zest of lemon and a sprinkle of cayenne for a light taste. I also ordered the caprese sandwich with a garlic basil olive oil pesto, mozzarella, tomato yum yum!!! I loved that caprese sandwich so much that I went back the next day! Great to eat next to the gazebo outside or take on a hike or to the beach. These well wrapped sandwiches are easy to go! I also ordered an iced tea and iced coffee.

Jessie C.

Yelp
10/10 delicious lunch option for kids and adults. I got the Cobb salad twice on our trip and they are so accommodating with allergies even very specific ones. So kind and patient. And found outstanding!!!!!! Even the turkey sandwiches the kids gobbled up.

Gerry D.

Yelp
Was really excited to try the "Terrific Turkey" sandwich but it was just a dry and flavourless sandwich. Hardly any cranberry sauce or mayo. They prioritize their catering orders so be willing to wait, standing, for over 30 minutes for sandwiches and 15 minutes for coffees. They aren't open inside, only one register was open, and online ordering was closed. Really disappointed and I recommend stopping somewhere else for a bite.

Lexie B.

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches, Nantucket prices. Good stop if you've only got $20 left in your pocket! Sandwiches are good but everything else on the menu is a pass for me. Not impressed by any of the salads or breakfast offerings.

Kat D.

Yelp
absolutely delicious. staff was polite & service was quick. I do not eat meat, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the many options for meatless sandwiches. I had a falafel wrap-- it was so good and a filling meal. The people I was with had 'the other turkey' and 'the Italian' and also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Perfect for a quick bite after getting off the ferry. Next time in Nantucket I will stop by!

Merilina L.

Yelp
DISAPPOINTING!!!! I'm not sure why everyone gave such good reviews of this place. Mediocre sandwiches at best. Also, we tried breakfast and they were out of bagels (besides Cisco beer flavored-yuk) by 10 am and only have two egg choices. One made with herbs and heavy cream, and the other " egg white" that actually has feta. So beware there are no dairy free or kid friendly options. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes for order as well. NOT impressed!

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Great sandwiches to pick up en route to the beach. Call ahead and they'll have them waiting, especially nice when you're jockeying for a parking spot and someone can jump out to grab them as the other person does a loop. Sometimes I don't want to brave town traffic on the way to the beach, but I'm always happy I did at lunch time :)

Jaclyn O.

Yelp
Great food a real treat, I recommend them . Gluten free bread. They deliver food to ACK airport

M C.

Yelp
You'll wait (and pay) cuz the sandwiches are great. They have a highly trafficked location too, of course, but I did not regret waiting almost 15 minutes to order, then 20+ for our sandwiches, as my Italian sandwich was fantastic! Just the right amount of sweet and spice with the peppers, complimenting quality meets and cheese on a tasty ciabatta. Will order again!

Angela B.

Yelp
Ultimate spot while on Nantucket. It's amazing how they keep the tradition of the old "Provisions". The place is so clean, there is outside benches as well. Perfect downtown spot to grab your sandwich and go explore. They also deliver! All of their sandwiches are so delicious and fair for the price! YOU MUST TRY THEIR FALAFEL! Sooo good!

Srikanth K.

Yelp
My wife and I were here on our visit to Nantucket. She got a salad which they customized and I got the caprese sandwich. They do.offer gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Wait times can be long as they are very popular and the food is well worth the wait. The caprese sandwich was fresh, the ciabata rolls were awesome, and the fresh mozzarella made a huge difference. We highly recommend this place.

Ms O.

Yelp
Don't judge Provisions on their coffee. It'll satisfy your caffeine needs, but isn't something you'll crave. Now the sandwiches on the other hand, they are amazing. The turkey and the Italian are both worth suiting for. The breakfast baked goods are also excellent and I highly recommend the bacon and chive scone, it was memorable.

Danielle K.

Yelp
Yum! Great sandwiches. Curry Chicken was really good and delicious. Was super excited to try the Turkey Terrific but wasn't really into it. Was a little surprise people are so obsessed it. Wouldn't get it again but would go back for others!

Nick G.

Yelp
Great quality sandwiches, but 35 min wait is a bit absurd. The order process is beyond inefficient, perhaps a management and/or cashier issue. Easy to improve and hope to see it better next time.

CC C.

Yelp
I've been trying for months to get here and finally managed. Of course it's chaos when you walk in so I was wondering if my sandwich would live up to the hype. Got a Cuban American. Typical Cuban on Portuguese bread. Oh man, it was delicious. It melted like butter in my mouth and tasted like heaven. The bread was perfect with the meat and everything blended together for the perfect sandwich. Price: $10. A bit more than you'd spent off island, but I say that about every place on island. It's a little on the cramped side in there, but if I'm going on the delicious Sammie only, this place is worth the visit.

Ann P.

Yelp
I was on a bumpy ferry ride and needed a green tea fix. The ferry only had Lipton, HORRORS. Provisions serves Harney Tea (win) and had some lovely baked goods as well. I had a nice slice of banana bread. It was slightly stale but I was famished. It was loaded with walnuts. YUM!

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Hubby and I stopped by for a quick lunch. The made to order sandwiches were tasty and quickly prepared. Minimal seating inside but you can always take your meal outdoors! :)

Ivy G.

Yelp
The fanciest sandwich you've ever had. Not my favorite sandwich on island but still pretty great. Cash only but they have an atm. Baked goods are great as well.

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
Four stars because it's cash-only, and sometimes they skimp on the meat. Otherwise five stars all around for this island classic, which is located right on the wharf. Provisions has some of the best sandwiches on the island - you can't go wrong with the turkey terrific, the other turkey, or the tuna on ciabatta. This is my go-to spot to pick up sandwiches for a day at the beach. Pop into fresh across the street for some booze and smoked fish dip, and you're set!

Galli B.

Yelp
Get the Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich. Very nice. It doesn't get any better than that.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I heard a lot of buzz around these sandwiches, so I did have high expectations that were 100% met. We all got different sandwiches so we could try them all because so many of them sounded delicious. My favorites were the thanksgiving sandwich (it's exactly what it sounds like) and the turkey. This place is another place that is cash only. The staff here were also over the top friendly!

Bailey W.

Yelp
Sandwiches are good, but I had to wait almost a half hour for 2 sandwiches when there was only one other person in line. Would not recommend if you have anywhere to be.

Loniane E.

Yelp
Best spot on the island hands down!!!!!! The turkey terrific brings you back to thanksgiving!!! Amazing breakfast sandwich; the original extra tomato jam!!! I definitely recommend checking this spot out!!!!!! Anything that you get will be made with extra love and packed with flavor!!!! Check it out!!!

Nombre O.

Yelp
If you have never been to Nantucket and are reading this review ... You need to just come to the Island and head straight to Provisions ... These sandwiches are worth the price of admission ( oh bring cash ... No credit or off island checks accepted). Each sandwich is fresh made to order and beyond artistically crafted (not a $ubway reference, they only use real natural food not recreated food product). My favorite is the total turkey! Thanksgiving dinner in every bite!! I can't leave the island with out this culinary treat. Staff is attentive to food allergies and happy to bing your order to the outside seating area once the order is complete. Enjoy and save room for their great sweet offering as well.

Peggy J.

Yelp
Delicious good food! We grabbed sandwiches (great vegetarian options as well). I cant remember the name of the one I ordered but it has a walnut pepper paste in it and it was delicious! My boyfriend got the sicilian tuna which was incredible as well. We also bought cookies which were very yummy. We bought our sandwiches at 11 and ate them around 2 pm after driving around great point and they were still delicious!

Arianne L.

Yelp
Try the turkey terrific or the curried chicken! Delicious sandwiches and fast service.

Michael R.

Yelp
We come for the Turkey Terrific sandwich whenever we are on the island. We promised to bring some home to friends/family who haven't been in a while and miss this amazing sandwich. The eve before our early AM departure, we swung by to get seven sandwiches, figuring we can keep them in our fridge and take them in a cooler on the plane the next am. Rado, the employee who was taking our order heard about our plan and offered to make them fresh at 5:30 am the next am and DELIVER THEM to the airport at 6:30 am so they would be as fresh as possible for our friends at home. And he totally did this!!! So not only do they make the best sandwich on the island, they go above and beyond with customer service!!!! Well done Provisions!!

Krista J.

Yelp
Good food, though the place is a bit disorganized since there are two counters...one more for coffee and beverages, and the other for sandwiches. The workers kept confusing us as to which line we needed t be in, and it was busy enough for 3pm on a Sunday. There's not that many tables and they mostly just sit two people. There is one high table with bar stools for a group of six, or for people eating on their own. Beware, they only accept cash.
