A Memorable Mexico Road Trip With One of Our Top Contributors

"This mansion was neglected for 47 years. Dust and water leaks left it in an uninhabitable state, making it seem doomed to eventually crumble into oblivion. But fortunately, the mansion has been revived thanks to a rehabilitation project dedicated to restoring the structure while maintaining some of its abandoned ambiance. Today, the mansion is a gorgeous event space. It’s rented out for art exhibitions, cultural presentations, fashion shows, and private events such as weddings and birthday parties. Parts of the building still feature decaying wood, peeling paint, and windows without glass. Wander its labyrinthine corridors and dark rooms, and you’ll spot faded wallpaper and even graffiti left by the people who once illegally occupied the space. In its former life, the mansion was the home of engineer Robles Gil, the governor of Jalisco during 1911. It was built in 1899, and its design pays homage to the neoclassical architect Manuel Tolsá. The neighborhood it’s in was known for having exquisite mansions. In 1913, one of the bloodiest episodes of the Mexican Revolution happened nearby." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

No need to convince you - this place is special. A dream venue for any wedding photographer in CDMX! And the perfect setting for K&B’s wedding that we covered... I just can't get enough of that magnificent architecture, details, ceilings and plants, the famous staircases, patios - all in the heart of the city we love! (QUICK TIP: If you’re getting married here, consider a first look session before the ceremony - use the space before guests arrive!) Here, we started exactly with that first look on those famous stairs, followed by family & friends photos inside. Then an intimate and elegant ceremony, followed by a quick patio cocktail before the reception downstairs. Touching speeches with some tears (but of laughter), and then THE PARTY took off! The staff of both of the venue and WP Marlo, were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring the couple got the best experience and we, as photographers, had everything we needed. Thanks again!!! The stunning Prim, K&B’s amazing energy, and an unforgettable celebration made this my "Portfolio Wedding". Proyecto Prim is at the top of my venue list - for couples looking for a historic, unique, and truly magnificent venue in one of CDMX’s most iconic neighborhoods.

As as far as being a wedding venue, it will definitely remain one of the top experiences one can ever be part of. Between the exotic backgrounds and the amazing food display, the entire staff and servers are above and beyond in making you feel so special

The most stunning space to throw a wedding celebration. As wedding photographers, we were completely blown away documenting a wedding here. From the towering ceilings, charming architecture, and gorgeous details there wasn't a corner of this space that wasn't beautiful to photograph in. Highly recommend getting married here!

One of the most amazing venues in Mexico City. The architecture is beautiful and the building has the perfect amount of decay. Salon Acme is an event that happens during art week and has great art and parties all weekend long. @salonacme on IG

My favorite building ever. A magical space of history where the jungle and light is brought indoors.

Yelp
Came here for a wedding recently. This is a stunning venue! The ceremony location on the top floor was intimate and the indoor/outdoor area on the first floor for the reception was plenty spacious. The architecture and feel is very unique and looked beautiful all decorated with lights, flowers, decor etc. The wedding itself seemed very well run and went seamlessly. The staff was also very professional and attentive. Good bathrooms as well which is always important for a wedding!!

Yelp
The current exhibit WOMEN: NEW PORTRAITS/Annie Leibovitz is great and FREE! However, very popular and long lines, but they gave us complimentary 'esquites' while in line which made it worthwhile! Very nice touch. The place is an old casona...Casa Juarez and the street is actually General Prim.
