PS Air Bar – Palm Springs, California - Gastro Obscura

"The PS Air Bar in Palm Springs, California, allows travelers to enjoy a first-class aeronautical voyage, but without the security line and turbulence. Located in the back of the Bouschet wine shop, this speakeasy transports its guests to the golden age of air travel, when eager travelers would dress to impress to board the party train in the sky. Complete with eight first-class and 27 coach seats, a pair of crew jump seats, airplane sidewalls, and bartenders dressed as stylish crew members, this in-flight experience keeps passengers fully immersed. Guests receive a boarding pass to reveal a signature drink menu with concoctions such as the Mile High Club, Jet Lag, and Red Eye. As a flight attendant for over 30 years, Tom Beatty, who created the bar along with co-owner Dennis Costa, wanted to channel the wonder of air travel from the ground. The duo procured plane parts from an airline graveyard in the Mojave Desert, built glowing “storm” clouds that hang from the ceilings, and projected a scene flying through sun-kissed clouds into Palm Springs International Airport. They even received gracious donations, including vintage luggage and Continental’s original 1975 beverage cart. On Saturday nights, passengers can enjoy an in-flight dining experience with a “Hostess from Hell,” complete with a hot meal (there’s a chicken, beef, or vegetarian option) served on a divided tray. Sundays are for Disco Boozy brunch drag shows, and Mondays feature a resident magician performing close-up tricks for each row. Local artists frequent the friendly skies performing live music in the back of the cabin. None" - michellemobarrett, GabriellaMarzola, joeypesto, greentommy280

I loved everything about PS Air Bar. All of the staff were very inviting. The atmosphere was such a vibe. I really wished I had a bigger appetite. I tasted the macoroni salad. Which was one of the owner's mothers' Laverne's recipe. It was scrumdeliumptious so good. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in PS.

This bar was a hit with us and our entire group! We had no clue we’d be walking into a bar which was set up like an airplane! What a hoot! Sooooo much fun! Live entertainment and servers were a blast! Thanks for a fantastic night!!

Google
SUCH a unique experience! Would 100% recommend it, we even almost missed it since it's a speakeasy. Good: - The staff are all dressed like airplane staff, and they commit to the bit - The drinks are all themed, I got a chocolate rum drink that tasted like hot chocolate, and the others got drinks with little airplane shaped ice in them. - The seats are airplane seats, and the bathroom is an airplane stall, but better - The waiter we had was from France, and he was really entertaining - There are even fake clouds in the ceiling Bad: - We wish we spent longer here! Overall would come here, it's a hidden gem in a sleepy shopping mall.

Google
This bar surprised me with how chill and relaxed it is. The décor is minimalist, with lots of natural wood and plants. The staff was welcoming and took time to chat about the cocktails. I had a refreshing cucumber martini that was light and flavorful. It’s not a huge place, so it never felt crowded. Great for catching up with a friend or having a quiet drink after work.

Google
Airplanes. How do they work? What do they mean? PS Air Bar brings the mystery and majesty of airplanes to Palm Springs. You want in-flight entertainment? Perhaps a home-edited Lady Gaga music video intercut with plane crash footage. Did you know that OK Go filmed a music video on a parabolic flight (often called “the vomit comet”)? I do. In a community beset with comfort and stagnation, PS Air Bar soars. $7 Bud Lights

Google
PSA Air Bar is amazing! The food is delicious, the drinks are top-notch, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great, for date night or friends. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t be disappointed!

Google
Come with us on a journey… to anywhere… Have you ever asked yourself: what would we do without airplanes? PS Air Bar dares you to ask this question. And then answers you with a delicious cocktail. It’s first class baby! Give it a visit. Btw watch out my girlfriend thinks she writes better reviews than me and she’s about to write one. Find mine helpful and hers.. confusing and shrill

Google
Flight crews, aviation enthusiasts, or anyone that loves good food and a unique dining experience, this hidden gem is for you. Located in the Bouschet Fine Wine Store, the airplane themed decor really makes you feel like you’re dining on a plane. I had the delicious beef sliders and the plane ice cubes were a nice touch. Service from the "Captain" and the "Flight Attendant" was above and beyond. Look forward to coming back for a show. TIP: Check the website for hours and events.

Yelp
Come fly with me. PS Air Bar & Grill. A hidden gem in Palm Springs. Cool atmosphere, friendly staff and great drinks. A great find if you're in Palm Springs.

Yelp
Checked out this cute airplane-themed speakeasy while in Palm Springs for a bachelorette party. It's supposed to be hidden behind a sandwich shop, but we ended up entering through another door on the side. They were super accommodating with our large party even though we arrived late due to our dinner running over. Service was friendly and attentive. I tried two of their themed cocktails: the TSA, which was Aperol-based and refreshing, and the Stewardess, a lychee rum cocktail that was way stronger than I expected and not as sweet as I was hoping for. Overall it was a fun experience but I wish the music was louder and the lights were dimmer to make it a more party vibe. They also close at 12, which is kinda early for a bar and caught us by surprise.

Yelp
Flew into PS Air Lounge on a Friday night and the airplane-themed decor is NEXT LEVEL: real airline seats, moody cabin lighting, fake windows with "sky views," and the staff dressed as PILOTS! Our night: **DJ was spinning FIRE** - perfect Friday vibe! **Drinks = delicious** (try their signature cocktails!) the Aviation martini was super tasty. Came with an airplane shaped ice cube floating on top. **Beer selection was super limited** - hope it was just an off-night! **Pro tips:** **Go early** if you don't have resos! **Large groups? BOOK AHEAD** - this place fills up fast! Whether you're an aviation geek or just love unique spots, this lounge is a must-visit.

Yelp
We were in the Palm Springs area for a few days and made a list of bars to visit and PS Air was on the list. It is located in a strip mall in the back of the Bouschet wine shop. Although it is advertised as a speakeasy, there is a sandwich board in front of the shop advertising the location. I would say it is more of a themed bar as they have shows and entertainment also. There was plenty of parking available right in front of the shop early on a weeknight. I would definitely recommend calling and making a reservation ahead of time. We walked into Bouschet and were steered to the back of the store where there is a little ramp up to the entrance of PS Air. We were initially seated towards the back in a set of slightly elevated economy airplane seats right in the middle of the aisle with a regular table. We were looking for a more immersive experience from a unique place like this and asked to be moved to some seats more inside the airplane body with windows and a wing segment as the table. Even though there were several empty four seat and six seat areas, we were told that they were reserved. We ended up settling on sharing a six seat area with another group of three people. Sitting here definitely gave more of an "in an airplane" vibe. It feels like PS Air is more of a place for groups. If you are going just as a couple or are looking for an intimate evening, expect to share a group of seats or sit at the bar which kind of defeats the point of coming here. The seats are real airplane seats with most of them being economy seats in groups of six, but there are also a few groups of four first class seats near the entrance. In between each pair of seats is a segment of an airplane wing with glass on top which is your table. All of the windows have various pictures in them. One of our windows had a picture of a gorilla on the wing which was a scene from an old episode of Twilight Zone. There are also various large airline inspired posters overhead and some luggage above some of the seats. There are also a few fluffy clouds overhead. Even the restroom door is painted to look like an airplane lavatory door and there are more airplane themed things inside. This was our first stop of the night so we decided to order some appetizers with our first round of drinks. I usually don't expect much from bar food but it was definitely subpar. We started with the hummus plate. The veggies were fresh, but that was about it. The hummus was solid like it had been in the refrigerator all day and it didn't have much taste. The pita bread also tasted like it had been in the refrigerator as well. We also ordered the BBQ chicken pizza. The dough, cheese, and BBQ sauce were good, but the cubes of chicken were totally dried out and the jalapeño pepper slices were nuclear hot. I tried the Aviation cocktail which was ok. It had a nice violet color but it was extremely gin forward. My girlfriend had the Red Eye which she enjoyed. It was grapefruit forward which she liked and it was balanced, but she could have done without the Taijin rim. Some of the drinks have airplane shaped ice cubes which is a nice touch. The drinks were ok and the food was subpar. The group of three people we sat with were friendly and they left about fifteen minutes later so we had the space to ourselves for the rest of our visit. The few servers we interacted with were friendly and service was fine. The environment is what killed it for us. When we first sat down "in the plane", there was a group of six sitting across from us and they had two young children that were running all over the place most of the time. When we were deciding on whether or not to get another round of drinks, another group came in with a dog. We love kids and animals, but this isn't the place for that in what I would expect to be an adults only no animals establishment so we decided to leave. The bottom of the white airplane body under the windows was also dusty and had stains that looked like they had been there a long time. Fun concept, especially if you are with a group of people, but it didn't work for us due to the other guests on that particular night. They also need to step up the food.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere - like six rows on an aircraft. Highly recommend reservations as we were seated in First Class which most are real coach seats. We had a cocktail and the pilots warm nuts - lol - which were amazing and actually worth the $15. Bartender made a perfect martini. Service was great and we had a fun time.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend booked a last minute trip to Palm Springs with zero plans and somehow stumbled into one of the best surprises of the weekend. I called PS Air on a whim and the guy who answered was so friendly and welcoming. It set the tone right away. When we arrived, they seated us next to a random person in true airplane fashion and honestly, we vibed. Chill convo, strong drinks, and good energy all around. Speaking of drinks, the pear martini was strong in the best way. This is why I love gay bars. They do not play around with their pours. The whole vibe was immersive and fun. Real airplane seats that actually recline and are super comfy, nostalgic aviation decor, and a crew that really delivers the experience. The DJ playlist was so random in the most iconic way. It felt like all my Spotify playlists hit shuffle at once and I was weirdly obsessed. Next time I'm definitely coming back for their drag Sunday brunch or a murder mystery night. PS Air isn't just a bar, it's a whole experience. 10/10, highly recommend.

Yelp
Oh yeah! We boarded PS Air, and what a fun, immersive atmosphere for a flight that's not going anywhere. Friday nights are a blast with live music performances belting out old-school hits that had everyone singing and dancing--there was definitely a vibe of nostalgia in the air. It was wild to see a whole room of people just letting loose and having fun, and the crowd had a certain classic energy to it that made it even more enjoyable. The drinks were okay, but let's be real, people come here for the experience. We didn't have a reservation, but since it was just the two of us, they managed to squeeze us in at a table--lucky us! The theming here is next-level, with actual airplane seats, floating clouds, round plane windows, and even a departure board to complete the illusion. If you're looking for a unique night out with big energy and nostalgic fun, PS Air is absolutely worth the trip!

Yelp
This is a cool little place! It is actually kind of a speakeasy - - you walk through a wine bar/store to get to the door to PS Air. When you walk in there is a lighted aisle, just like on a plane. There are airplane seats on either side of the aisle, the groups of two first class seats or three coach seats face each other with a table made from an airplane wing in the middle. The seats even have seat belts and a flotation vest underneath!! There are clouds hanging from the ceiling that change colors, and vintage airline photos and enlarged posters on the wall. Running along the side of each while our airline windows with lit photos in each one. There's disco ball and a DJ booth and a blue lip bar in the back. The bathroom door looks like the push doors on a real airplane bathroom, but, fortunately, The bathroom is nice and large. The bartender wears a pilot's uniform, and it looks like they have a boozy brunch served by uniformed "flight attendants." The other two ordered beer, but I ordered a cocktail - - The chocolate cloud. It was delicious and pretty boozy! The food menu is small, but the food was good. We got the flatbread pizza, which was like a margarita pizza; the gourmet pizza, a white pizza with mushrooms; and the sliders with onion jam and macaroni salad. What a fun place to come when you're in Palm Springs! I would like to go back in the evening and see one of the shows, or even more, attend a boozy brunch!

Yelp
I love a good bar. I love a good themed bar. And what better theme than an airplane theme. The Mrs. and I attempted to beat the heat and stopped by PS Air yesterday for a few drinks. She didn't tell me about PS Air. It was kind of a surprise. PS Air is definitely a speak easy type bar. It is in back of the Bouschet Fine Wine store. Walking into the bar you see a series of airplane seats that are set up in such a way that they face one another. In between each row of seats there is a table made to look like an airplane wing. The walls look like a fuselage complete with windows depicting various scenes. The airplane seats were actually comfortable to sit in. They recline. The seatbelts worked. I guess that's a good thing if you've had too much to drink. The drinks were very reasonably priced. I had two Manhattans and the Mrs. had a Vodka martini and a drink called a Chocolate Cloud off of the cocktail menu. $55 for all four drinks. Bar snacks are offered free of charge. Those snacks being popcorn, pretzels, Swedish meatballs, and cream cheese balls. The service was excellent. All the servers wear captains shirts complete with epaulets.

Yelp
Cool experience if you like aviation! Definitely a place for snacks and drinks. Fun menu as well. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Elijah is awesome. Great personality and very professional. Although he works in Coach he does come through First Class. The bar has great atmosphere and a must visit!

Yelp
10/10 experience! A few of our friends or aviation nerd, and this could not have been a more fun experience. The service and drinks are incredible. We came at our reservation time, and unfortunately, they were packed with a party. They apologized and accommodated us in a separate area until our table was ready. Definitely would love to come back. The ambiance here is very warm and charming, especially for those who have an appreciation for airplanes.

Yelp
Lovely live music on a Monday night. We had the place almost to ourselves but enjoyed the fun decor and ambience. Food menu looked great but we didn't try it. Next time!

Yelp
I love this bar! Walking in we were air traffic controlled into our first class seats! Windows of bewitched and New York on the wall and karaoke on the wall! Suitcases and planes seats make you feel like you're flying first class! The flight attendants bring you food and drink and make you so comfortable. This is such a fun place!
google avatar

Dori M.

Yelp
Such a cool concept! Loved the drinks and the attention to detail to make you feel like you are in a plane. Awesome service from our flight attendant!

Yelp
We finally made it into PS Air and were not disappointed. It was super busy (admittedly, we went during Modernism Week, without a reservation), but they were still able to seat us in short order. If you haven't been here yet or heard about it, the bar is whimsically themed like an airplane, and it feels like you're inside headed to some far off destination. The decor is amazing, with various views out of each window, vintage luggage stored overhead, service staff in uniform, and clouds above your head. Speaking of heads, even the bathroom sticks to this theme, being a slightly larger version of what you'll find on a plane. The menu is quite creative, again with the aeronautical theme. Off of the "Wines Around the World" menu, my wife ordered a glass of South African Merlot ($12), while I had one of their signature cocktails, the Warm Nuts ($16). Since we had eaten earlier, we just shared an order of the Mixed Olives ($10), but all of the food that came out to the tables around us looked very good. We did order a second round of drinks. I tried a Turbulence ($16) and my wife had the Chocolate Cloud ($16). All cocktails were well made, and delicious! Service was very good on our visit, even though there was a little bit of a wait due to the larger crowds and them being one person short. Overall, a fun experience, and I'm sure we'll be back to give more food and cocktails a try.
google avatar

Yelp
An absolutely amazing Speakeasy Bar/Lounge in Palm Springs! It's a must go to for anyone who loves planes/airlines. The decor inside is all nostalgic airlines related. Even the staff are wearing pilot uniforms! The drink list is good and if you love wine they can pull any bottle of wine from the wine store it's connected to. The food looked awesome as we saw it pass by our 1st Class Seats on its way back to economy class. We would have ordered food but had just finished with dinner elsewhere. But we did try their Bread Pudding and it was out of this world! Probably in the top 2 or 3 bread puddings I have ever had anywhere in the world. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I highly recommend PS Air as a must see and experience place. They do seem to get busy so probably best to call ahead and make reservations.
google avatar

Eddie A.

Yelp
Cute place, good food, good drinks. Drinks take for ever to get to you... like a delayed flight.
google avatar

Mona S.

Yelp
Such a cute concept for a speakeasy! It's like stepping into an airplane in the 50s. The cocktails were delicious, and the service was amazing. Our server was François, who is very attentive and playful. He has a French background, one of our group members could also speak French, so they were able to have a delightful conversation. We felt very well taken care of, and then the decor is great for cute pictures too. I will definitely be coming back here on my next visit to Palm Springs! I also hear they have an excellent drag show, though we did ours at a different venue so we didn't do it here this time. Au revoir!
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem here in Palm Springs! It is in the same shopping center as Revivals, next to the bike shop. The airplane theme is very cool, the drinks are handcrafted and delicious, and the food is very good. Limited menu though, think bar munchies such as pizza, club sandwiches, sliders, and the night I went I had turkey chili, which was delicious. The servers(flight attendants) are very knowledgeable on the items offered and give very attentive service. Live music was a nice touch too. (love the airline videos!) Not sure how many people it seats, but it is not many and I recommend a reservation. Enjoy!
google avatar

Martha Z.

Yelp
Love this little cute speakeasy in Palm Springs! Gives you the airport experience! Highly recommend for people who are visiting town and want to have a fun experience with family and friends! Excited to find out they have live music events and performances in this spot!

Yelp
A+ for sure...this place is soooo much fun- great music- plus the staff is fantastic and the drinks are delicious! Can't wait to go again. Thank you everybody- we all had the best time!

Yelp
Theme: 4/5 almost perfectly executed, could use some updating. Sound Level: 5/5 uplifting Staff: 5/5 friendly and attentive Food: 5/5 get the bbq pizza Drinks: 2/5 this is where it got upsetting. Ordered several and drank only a sip from most as they were dive bar level drinks. Think Apple Pucker in Appletinis etc. No fresh fruit mixes or upper level mixes.

Yelp
I have been wanting to come here since I knew I was coming to Palm Springs. Talked my boss into joining me. We had a blast. We could not enter thru the wine store but made it thru the side entrance. Boarded the plane and was seated at a nice big table. Of course I chose the window seat. Dominic was our "flight attendant " and was awesome. Quick on the drink orders. I loved that my ice cube was an airplane. Drinks were yummy! Pizza/flat bread was yummy! What a great vibe. Videos with airplane themed songs and videos. Then bring out the singers. They had great voices! Great concept, loved every second of it.
google avatar

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
Seating is limited, I definitely recommend calling ahead if you're going in large groups. I walked in on a whim and was in a party of two and showed up at 11:30 and had happened to get a good spot. Bartender was super sweet and spot on with her recommendations are server was great. Wish I could've got their names to give them a shout out, can't wait to come back and try out the food.
google avatar

Abraham A.

Yelp
If you're into a speakeasy when traveling, this place is definitely worth a stop. It's located through the back of a local wine shop not too far from downtown. Once you board, you're given a seat and offered and drinks. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails and a few appetizers. The airplane vibe was a highlight. We were there midweek and it definitely wasn't crowded. Good idea but the vibe was pretty mellow when we were there. Looks like it gets busy on the weekends.
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
I'll take a flight any day of the week here! Walked in and was greeted right away. Music was jammin and the atmosphere is just super cool! They upgraded our seats to 1st class which was neat to see the different areas similar to on a real airplane. Drinks were delicious and perfectly chilled. Host was social and professional. Loved the overall theme of this space. Went later in the evening so didn't take advantage of the food options but definitely will be coming back with my passport haha!
google avatar

Alyson G.

Yelp
This is the best speakeasy I've ever been to! The decorations are on point to the theme. We went for karaoke night and had an absolute blast. The service is impeccable as well. They made sure that our experience was the best. I really would recommend going here to anyone who asks. And the drinks, they were strong! Loved it.

Shannon W.

Yelp
We had reservations for their Tuesday night "Murder Mystery" themed dinner. I didn't go into it with high expectations for the food, but surprisingly, it was decent (for airline food). I had read a lot of the reviews and the drinks seemed just fine and yes, the servers are "sassy." The Murder Mystery was just so-so. The "actors" were reading off of papers with their lines highlighted. It got a little old after a while. One thing that kinda bothered me was how the older gentlemen sitting next to us were harassing the server. The server was shrugging it off, but I do feel he was annoyed. One kept running his fingers up his side and patting his backside. If the server was a woman and the patron a man, that guy would've been kicked out. I feel like it affected our service because the server didn't want to come our direction, or so it seemed!
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
This is a very fun bar located inside of a deli/liquor store. You come for the ambiance, not for the cocktails. Because to be honest, the cocktails were not good. But as someone who was obsessed with airplanes as a kid, I loved it here. I got the espresso martini, but it tasted unflavored and watered down with vodka. It was a very strong drink. No creaminess, and light coffee flavor.
google avatar

Poonam M.

Yelp
Saw it on instagram, it was worth the drive over. Make sure to ask for lance. Happy hour is 4-6 and served free appetizers. Great karoke night on Tuesday

Yelp
Astounding. Fun AF. Happened into this place on a rec and would totally recommend to anyone else. Cute little bar, super unique, great staff.

Yelp
What a cool speakeasy and a must do while in Palm Springs. I was DMing them on Instagram just to make sure my son was allowed to dine since I didn't see any age restrictions on their webpage. Yes kids are allowed. Make reservations via telephone. I made mine for opening time on my husband's birthday to kick off the day with some early drinks. There's different sections to sit in , but of course I asked to be seated in First Class. This theme is very fitting for PS. It's a cool vibe with great drinks. We only ordered the sliders but it was delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Fun place for a drink. It's in the back of a wine bar. We had the Warm Nuts and Cockpit cocktails and an order of olives.

Yelp
This place is so cool the inside of it has airplane seats and you sit facing other people. It makes it easy to meet and engage with others. The drinks and the service was excellent.

Yelp
Such a cool place! Found this little gem by chance and loved the airplane themed speakeasy and the entire vibe. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Great themed bar and perfect for my airplane loving friend's bachelorette! Outside it's super unassuming, wouldn't even know this bar exists. Thus, a speakeasy in all its right. Once you walk inside, you find yourself inside of an "airplane". They have the airplane seats, windows, decor, and the staff is even in flight attendant/pilot attire. The have music videos playing on the projector but only music videos that have something to do with airplanes haha The menu is also very fitting and the drink names are spot on. Our group tried a bunch of different drinks on the menu and everyone liked what they got. We went on a Friday and they had a dj/singing duo from 8pm-10pm. They were awesome singers and would walk up and down the aisle engaging with guests and bringing them out to dance. Really set the mood. Even more fun was they called out every bride to be or birthday celebrant to the aisle and had them strut on the runway. It was super fun to watch! I wish they would have stayed a little longer because the mood did die down a bit once they left. Regardless it was still a good time. For a party of 10, I called ahead and made a reservation. Recommended for larger groups! If you find yourself in Palm Springs, check this place out!

Yelp
Wow! So much fun and a must when visiting the area. We really enjoyed the performer and themed decorations. The crowd was so joyful and lighthearted. The drink menu was nice but the food menu could be better. We ordered the hot nuts.

Yelp
Avoid this place at all costs. Awful service drinks are poorly made extremely WEAK!! Not a Real Bar ~ tourist attraction Tourist - Trap ..... Go Elsewhere!! Joke!

Yelp
Funny time a in the Air on the ground! I made reservations to PS Air since my friend was coming into town for a visit. This was quite an experiance. From the 'friendly skies' warm welcome to the well entertained departure. The drinks were well made. I had the Chocolate Cloud, creamy chocolatey goodness (somewhat like a mudslide)! We also shared a charcuterie board; this was so tasty! Loved the spicy meats with the raisin bread crackers and fig spread!! The olives, fruit and nuts were pretty good too. The ambiance was fun! The flight decor is cute and fun, especially the seats and tables. The cabin crew (I'm talking about your Captain) was not bad to look at either ;)

Yelp
Love this place and really enjoyed my time here! I tried to come a couple of month ago but the hours listed on Yelp were not updated (they have summer hours). This is basically a speakeasy in the back of a wine shop with a very unassuming store front in a strip mall. It's a hidden gem that I am glad I found. For this adventure we did not have any reservations but they have room for walk-in such as us. We went on a Wednesday night and there was live entertainment. We were seated at a table at the back of the plane and absolutely enjoyed our server. Everything is very on-theme here with no detail spared and love the airline captain uniforms they wear. We ordered our first drink at the table and got to join in on a dance party. Then to our surprise, they upgraded us to first class seats all to ourselves (true, it was close to closing time). The drinks were delicious and themed (loved the airplane shaped ice) and quite strong! Fabulous decor and energy here and everyone looked happy to be working here. I highly recommend you book a ticket for PS Airbar!
