We really enjoyed our first dinner at this place. Food was nice and staff were so friendly! The spot is worth definitely it! Our table was right on the stairs and this is so nice everything I was expecting! Thank you!

We had such a great group dinner at Psaras in Athens — definitely one for the books! We sat outside on the terrace with an incredible view overlooking the city. The atmosphere was cozy, authentic, and felt like a perfect little pocket of Greece tucked into the hillside. We started with a ton of small sharing plates — bread, salad, eggplant, meatballs, and more. Each one was packed with flavor, and it was so fun to try a bit of everything. Honestly, by the time our main dishes arrived, most of us were already pretty full — but of course, we powered through because everything looked and smelled amazing! The main was just as good as the starters, and somehow we even made room for dessert. Every course was delicious and well-paced, and the staff did a great job keeping everything flowing for such a large group. Dining here felt more like a full experience than just a meal. The views, the food, and the laid-back vibe made it a night to remember. If you’re in Athens and want a place that combines traditional Greek food with a beautiful atmosphere, Psaras is a must. Would come back to this spot 100%.

The atmosphere was AMAZING! it was so nice cozy. The view was stunning. The service was very nice, polite and attentive. The food was very very nice (the lamb roast with gravy was amazing) and the cocktails were unique and delicious, I definitely recommend this place!

While exploring Athens, we had the pleasure of dining at Psaras Tavern, and it was truly a memorable experience. I had the roast lamb, and it was absolutely incredible—rich, tender, and full of authentic Greek flavor. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and pasta, which was equally outstanding. The shrimp were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the pasta was light yet flavorful with a sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The ambiance of Psaras Tavern is exactly what you hope for when dining in the Plaka district—charming, relaxed, and filled with local character. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience feel like a warm embrace from Athens itself. If you’re looking for a genuine and delicious Greek dining experience, Psaras Tavern is a must. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal. Five stars without hesitation!

The atmosphere of the place is truly beautiful—very enjoyable and pleasant. The waiters were attentive and caring; I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said it was the best service I received in Greece. However, the prices are extremely high compared to competitors. I was charged €4 just for what they called “bread for two.” Unfortunately, like many places in Greece, the food was served cold. The shrimp we had was ice cold. Paying €36.50 for one shrimp dish and a salad is incredibly overpriced. I don’t think I would choose this place again. The level of service and food quality did not match the price.

Great experience, great service and great food. First time we visited the Tavern of Psara was 20 years ago. Good to see that some things do not change over time. The lamb in the clay pot was fantastic.

I ordered a sea bass risotto. Bear in mind i have already had countless risotto’s in Italy, and also in greece the last two weeks. Its one of my favorite dishes. So it starts with their first serving, and the risotto is watery/running. Like someone put a lot of sauce on it. I get a hold of a waiter and he tries to convince me that this is how a risotto is made. Which is false. He asks me if i want the manager instead of fixing the problem. I eventually say yes. He never returns and neither does the manager. So eventually i have to call on a new waiter. This one gets me a new dish. Its better, compared to the first one, but its still not a risotto. Its sea bass with rice… it was a good fish, and the rice was rice… but in conclusion i’m not going back because of the first waiter and because you serve a dish you should not have on the menu, because you don’t know how to make it… Its a tourist area, but that doesn’t exclude you from having to do your best for your customers. PS: if you think i’m wrong. Search risotto and see the difference 😂

I’ve been coming to Athens for many years. I make sure to visit the Akropolis and to dine at Psaras. Mr. Panos manages the busy taverna with classic style. The slow roasted lamb may be the best in all of Athens, the fish is outstanding, and the location is out of a postcard. Great experience. Greeks and tourists alike enjoy this special spot.
