On the Grid : Pt. Gaya Prasad Shiv Charan Paranthe Wale

"The ubiquitous Gali Parathe Waali is another Old Delhi staple which is definitely worth the visit. But which shop do you go to? After all these years of direct competition, it is hard to tell one from the other (and they are all pretty good) but Pt. Gaya Prasad Shiv Charan Paranthe Wale is the most famous, citing the photographic evidence of celebrity patronage on its walls. Try their more unusual offerings, such as lemon or mint stuffed parathas (fried flat bread), which are perfect for the summer. Though at first the thought of a piping hot stuffed bread might not appeal in the heat, you must forge on and trust us! Also of note are classic and outstanding radish and potato paranthas, and the somewhat quirky papad parathas. Go with friends and try multiple kinds, and wash it all down with refreshing kulhads (clay pots) of lassi (chilled yogurt shake)." - Delhi Dallying

This place serves the authentic paranthas of paranthe wali gali without the need to go to the narrow crowded lanes, so if you prefer tasting the authentic food of Chandni Chowk without having to tackle the rush of chandni chowk, this is the best place to have a meal. Though the taste is not exactly the same but is still decent enough.

Came here after several years - quality is not the same. Fried paranthas - way too hard and lacking flavors. I guess quality has gone down over the years. It’s probably just a tourist spot now - locals don’t seem to eat here any more.

Authentic Delhi Experience at Paranthe Wali Gali! We’re from South India and recently visited Chandni Chowk, where we made sure to explore the iconic Paranthe Wali Gali. We stopped by Pt. Gaya Prasad Shiv Charan and tried a variety of parathas – aloo, paneer, mixed veg – and each one was delicious in its own way. We also had their lassi, which was thick, refreshing, and a perfect complement to the meal. As expected, the place is a bit congested, with narrow lanes typical of old Delhi – but that’s part of the charm and authenticity of the experience. A must-visit spot for food lovers looking to savor Delhi’s traditional flavors!

Been visiting here since childhood but yesterday's visit was extremely horrible. Yes you fry the paranthas but you dont burn them. A neembu parantha had a flavour and you could taste shavings of the lemon but now they only add a powder. The vegetables had a flavour but now it's just an ordinary aloo matar / pumpki sabzi... Lastly the service was such that they are doing you a favour by serving you. Never visiting this place again. The old time charm is finished with the new generations.

Had the cheese burst paratha — super cheesy, crispy, and totally worth it! Great taste and quick service. Will be back for more. If you visit chandani chowk then you should go here once.

This is one of the oldest shop in the Paranthe Wali Gali in Chandni Chouk market, Delhi. A must visit when one is visiting Delhi. This lane is one of the oldest street food lane in Delhi. The delicacy has been passing from generation to generation. The shop is famous for it's crisp Paranthes and spicy subzis. Don't forget to savour the Lassis after the food.

Very poor quality parathas, fried in dirty oil, taste is not good at all, if anyone finds my review wrong then try eating one piece first, then place the full order,

One of the famous eateries serving deep fried parathas in the Parathewali Gali in Delhi 6. The space is cramped with tables and benches and service is fast. We tried the traditional aloo parantha, cheese and pepper parantha and peri peri paneer paratha. Deep fried in ghee (!!?) and served with aloo sabji, pumpkin sabji, green chutney, sweet banana chutney and pickles, it tasted quite okay. I felt that parathas were overpriced. The place gets crowded by noon and holidays it’s a nightmare. Hygiene is a big concern.
