The Kind of Pub the World Needs More Of.
Sirdie isn’t just a pub – it’s a small sanctuary of beer, conversation, and everyday magic. Located in Kallio, a neighborhood that’s easy to reach and close to the city center, this cozy little place is full of soul and old-school charm. And yes, for cinema lovers – parts of Calamari Union by Kaurismäki were filmed right here. There’s even a photo of Matti Pellonpää pinned near the bar, quietly watching over us all like a guardian spirit of Helsinki’s most authentic corners.
The atmosphere is effortlessly warm, informal, and genuinely welcoming. You might find yourself chatting with someone you’ve never met, as if you were old friends catching up. That’s exactly how a pub should feel: a place where it doesn’t matter who you are, as long as you’ve got a story to share or an ear to lend.
The beer? Served at just the right temperature, and a bit cheaper than elsewhere. No gimmicks, just perfectly poured simplicity.
Sirdie may be small, but it holds more stories than some castles. Just watch your step – I left a piece of my heart somewhere near the bar stools.
It’ll be the first place I go back to on my next visit to Helsinki. No doubt about it.
