"A perfect happy hour spot, Public House’s hip, funky rock-and-roll interior (complete with neon signs, fake animal heads, and chandeliers made from recycled Paiste cymbals) make it look far more raucous than it really is. And sure, the patrons will occasionally sing along with a rousing chorus of “More Than a Feeling” from over the loud speaker or Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” but the extensive beer list and the quirky Icelandic-Japanese fusion menu are anything but divey."

Public House Gastropub is a great spot in Reykjavík. The food is creative and flavorful, blending Icelandic ingredients with global influences, and the small plates are perfect for sharing. The atmosphere is lively and fun without feeling chaotic. Service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, even when busy. Drinks, including craft cocktails and local beers, complement the menu perfectly. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual bite or a full night out, Public House delivers solid food, excellent service, and a welcoming, energetic vibe.

The food was good we really liked the octopus but it was very small for the price. We loved the random decor throughout the restaurant. Our server was attentive without being too in your face.

Over all this experience was good. It wasn’t really amazing but it wasn’t just okay either. We didn’t have a reservation but we did get seated immediately. The problem was that I don’t think they had a server assigned for our table. It took a VERY long time to be served and multiple different servers came up to us throughout our meal asking us the same questions. They were all very kind but unfortunately they didn’t communicate well. The food was delicious! No complaints there the sliders bun was super fluffy! It did take a while to come out but they were very busy. Our fries were unfortunately forgotten we got them eventually. I would recommend but definitely try and make a reservation.

Cute spot. I had the tempura shrimp, pork belly bao buns and sliders. Everything was quite tasty we also had a lemon soda.

Grilled octopus was in main course but smaller than an appetizer for 30 dollars. Taste and place very average. Won't go back there

During a three-day trip to Iceland, someone recommended Public House Gastropub. I ate there at a little past 4pm on a Monday. There were very few people there, so I can't comment on the noise level, as my meal was quite quiet and calm. I thought the food was delicious. The service was excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant is visually appealing. Once you acclimate to Reykjavik prices, for the level of delicious being offered at Public House Gastropub, it's really quite worth it. Enjoy!

Very good Atmosphere!! Service good. Food is good but somehow is too much sauce on food. Brunch with bottomless drink on weekend is recommended !!!
