Public House of Yakima

Fun spot, great beertenders, good food, lively atmosphere, nice tap list. Enjoyed a few beers and the Cubano sandwich. Would definitely stop here again. The original Public House location.

I have lived nearby since before they opened. My first visit was last week to celebrate a colleague. I now know why the parking lot is almost always full 😁 Jim and his wife and the staff really give a great experience to everybody who comes. A wide variety of different drinks to suit all palettes. Highly recommend you give them a shot if you haven't been before.

The public house is such a fun place to visit in West valley for a beer and pretzel. They have I believe over 50+ rotating beers on tap and have a great food menu with charcuterie boards, pretzels, flatbreads etc. Love coming here in the summer time to sit out back and play cornhole. Service is always great.

What a great addition to the West side of Yakima. Excellent choices of beer, many of the local favs, plus quality local wines and cider. Had the chicken pesto flat bread, very good. Came black next day and had their monster Bavarian pretzel...hot and tasty! Clean, homey house and lots of parking with ADA accessible lift.

As a visitor from out of state, this has been my favorite place. Good food. Great staff. And a wonderful selection of craft beers from all over the state and surrounding areas. I did not try the wine. But I’m told the selection is very popular. Try the charcuterie board.

Pulled pork nachos were fire - highly recommended! The margarita pizza wasn't good, there was a strange sweet drizzle on top that ruined it for me.

This is exactly what West Valley needed! In Yakima there are several places to grab a good pint of beer but most are in Central Yakima with a hair around everywhere else. Stopped in last night instead of going somewhere else because we saw that they had opened. Was a little overwhelmed with the 40 different beers on tap and they had some great suggestions. Ended up going with a good IPA then a sampler with a good flatbread pizza. We'll be coming back.

great selection of local beers and wine. the food menu is simple and the flatbreads za is great. the outdoor seating was warm and it was large enough to accommodate our group of 12 on a whim. dogs welcome on the patio and the servers were so nice. have been frequenting here since it opened and are happy to keep going!

My husband and I had 3 beers, over a 2hour period, and the bartender refused to serve me another. I wasn't rude, or swore at anyone. I was pleasant and we tipped 20% on our purchases. I don't understand her treatment and I wish we could take our previous tips back. The whole experience leaves a sour feeling , especially when I don't go out often! We supported this establishment throughout the pandemic by buying gift cards for friends and monthly filling growlers for ourselves! I did nothing to deserve my treatment. I am a former bartender myself and would understand if I had. I'm just so mad that the bartender made me feel so bad when I had done nothing to warrant the cut off. It was embarrassing! I added a star to my previous review because the owner contacted me and did refund our tip portion. After explaining state law about over service and that he stands behind his staff he told me that the manager and other patrons also witnessed me yelling at this bartender. I'm even more disappointed in this situation and the lengths his staff will go to for each other. I never yelled. I don't believe the 3 other ladies in the bar had any complaints either. I think my husband and I had just been there to long for this bartender's liking and that is all. I hope the owner's business is strong enough to withstand the staff's treatment of patrons. Make sure you use very hushed voices when enjoying yourself or you might get cut off too!

Nice selection of drinks and some light food options to snack on. Outside seating was nice with options of shaded/unshaded. It was mostly empty when we went and it didn't take long to get our food.

I've been wanting to come here for some time. Glad we stopped. We had the Margherita pizza and it was yummy. Many, many local beers. The patio is lovely and there is seating inside and also on front porch. We'll be back.

Wow! What can I say about Public House...I am not your typical customer....I am quiet and reserved...I have experienced cultural shock...as in the sense I don't look like their typical customer and had just moved into West Valley about 5 years ago...But!!!!!! Ever since I started coming here, the customer service has been extremely exceptional!!!! The staff has always made me feel welcome and appreciated!!! I feel like this is a second home... a place where you can come and relax, knowing that the staff cares and looks out for you.

A bit late with this, (nov) I'll push the envelope here with 3 stars. I see people are generous with stars...4 star restaurant...not even close. The bar is set pretty low if this was a real 4 star place. Service 101...try a greeting when people arrive. Learn how to say thank you. find out when it is someone's first visit especially, as that is where you can make a good first impression. Great Beer selection, nice relaxing outside area.....But there is more We sat outside and our server (very young) seemed like she just didn't like her job. My wife's food came almost 5 minutes before mine arrived. Lots of potential here but service and food quality were less than delighting. Pulled pork sliders were so small and had seriously like 1 tbsp. of over cooked pork on them that was only luke warm. Pork sliders are so easy yet they blew it with theirs which is really hard to do!! I have done a lot of smoked dishes and had I ever had a dried out pork shoulder or Boston Butt that came out like this I would have sold my smoker and went into needlepoint or something other than food service. Now watch out....when you come inside from the back patio area watch your step or it would be real easy to stumble and fall right down the stairs to the basement that is not even chained off. Easy to get bumped in that area with the servers going in and out right there. Check it out and you will see the potential for an accident there unless they resolved it. Outside was relaxing but did we want to rush back..well no Now I use a 3 strikes and your out policy. I think they hit 2 strikes on this first visit. I would recommend that you try it for yourself...maybe you'll have better luck

Today was my first time coming to the public house with my sister. With life work and kids I hardly get out anymore but the atmosphere was so welcoming. Our server was Maddie she was so kind and attentive to our needs. I would definitely recommend this place for a good time and drink

Friendly Friendly helpful staff and good food. They have wine slushees and I love their charcuterie board and soft pretzel. Yum!

Service is not appropriate, I order a item at the bar like the menu suggests, bar maid asked what I wanted I gave her my order, comes back to our table with a number stick 15 minutes later asking us what did we order again? Really? She said they were really busy. NO! She was busy stuffing her face with food and carrying on conversation with her friends behind the bar enjoying her work time not helping customers because we weren't a " on going customer or a regular " not the Costco way of business. Well not going there again ever. Bale Breaker is way way better and employees are amazing.

What a cool place to now grace the West Side side town! Over the past couple months, there has been a fortunate increase in the number of businesses in this area of the city and this addition is perfect. The place is located in an old house that was previously an antique shop and is an amazing upgrade! They totally gutted the place and made it crisp, bright and inviting, along with delicious. The place seats roughly 30 people and can probably fit 50. Seating is mostly counter height tables with a few bar spots and a couple normal tables. The beer selection is PHENOMENAL! They've taken the (correct) approach and are highlighting much of what the valley and surrounding area have to offer. There were something like 30 beers on tap and a good number of nonalcoholic options to boot! The fizzy water is something my best half will appreciate when she visits! We didn't try any food, but the flat breads looked lovely, as did the gigantic Bavarian pretzel that comes on it's own hook! The owners put some real sweat and tears into transforming this place and it shows. The place is welcoming, everyone is friendly and to date, the place is often packed! If you can find a seat (and even if you can't) this is an awesome spot to come grab a brew with some friends! Good work PHY!

If I had wanted cheese goop on chips served in a clear plastic go box, I would have hunted for a Little League game and helped a team. I can't believe I passed up a couple of Mexican restaurants for this.

Great sit down for a bite place. The pretzel and flatbread pizza are unrivaled. Friendly fun atmosphere!

Amazing place with a wide variety of tap options! Extremely friendly staff that provide an exceptional experience. We have hosted our fantasy football draft at this location the last couple years and really enjoy the atmosphere the outside seating offers. Highly recommend this as a great place to grab a cold beer or cider!

This was our first experience at the PHY, the food was excellent. They offered a delicious GF cauliflower based pizza crust and the gal who helped us made our charcuterie to order - also delicious. The atmosphere was very chill and I noticed a play area for children as well as a great selection of board games so this place is family friendly. Speaking of selection, they have a great selection of beers on tap as well as a variety of wines. The gal who helped us also hinted at free beer/wine samples in case we couldn't make up our minds. Open on Sundays. Check it out and bring your friends along for the experience.

My friend and I recently patronized The Public House for drinks and lunch. We were both very pleasantly surprise that no smoking is allowed on the patio with signs posted no smoking. The patio atmosphere is very pleasant with comfortable seating and no loud music blaring. We had gone to an establishment last week that allowed smoking freely on the patio. I am not a fan of breathing second hand smoke in any circumstances especially during this time. The 60 choices of beverages is great. The bartenders and wait staff were friendly and professional. The flat bread pizza was really good. My friend and I will definitely be back. Eve G

Heaven on earth. This is the kind of stuff that makes me wonder why I don't pack up and move to Yakima. This place nails it, down to every last detail. You're going to want to hang out all day! Also, this is the best pretzel, cheese, and mustard you will ever find.

Amazing pretzels beautiful out door seating. One thing that can be improved on is making sure the outdoor heating tanks work/ have the waiters help us with that

Love PHY! Great local hangout and the new, expanded, outdoor seating is fantastic. Even when it's busy it doesn't feel crowded. Definitely a spot to spend some time at if you are visiting Yakima or live in the area.

Easily one of the coolest hangouts in Yakima! What a fabulous addition to the Yakima beer and dining scene. I've never had a pretzel I've enjoyed more. The flatbreads are absolutely amazing and a must try. The staff is so knowledgeable and always eager to help you find the perfect beer. Don't miss the back patio, it's an awesome spot to hang out. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

We usually go to the Pub, which is right across the street from Public House, but we decided to try something new. The seating inside, was very uncomfortable. The beers on tap were very expensive compared to the Pub and other local places. No games, TV, sports, etc, very drab atmosphere. No waitstaff, patrons have to try to track down a bartender to place an order. Staff wanted tip, we wondered what did they do to deserve any gratuity. Cannot recommend Public House.

One of my favorite places to go. I always enjoy the outside seating area and fun ambiance. It's a great place for those with little kiddos who want to hang out with friends, dogs are welcome as well. The employees are happy, fun, and very knowledgeable. The pretzels here are the best in town!

The owner has legitimate issues with anger management. While trying to operate with sensitivity and a sincere interest in complying with Covid protocols, was verbally assaulted by this maniac. I kid you not. I'm not a physically imposing person. I doubt he would have behaved the way he did if I was. He's a bully. You've been warned.

Only complaint....all the led pot lights are way to bright and it hurts you eyes. Not very warm and inviting. Replace them w dimmer lights. It's like a Drs exam room.

Been here three times now and I have never felt exactly welcome. Not by the fellas but by the one woman that works there that I've dealt with it her name may be mentioned later but probably not by me. From my (the customer) perspective, service is surly at best. The part that she's missing is that she is working for tips.... (She)people don't get that about the hospitality industry you have to make the guests feel welcome so that they will tip you and you'll make more money and then you won't be so miserable in your job. She should be fired so that it can be a true public house instead of a house that is ran by an ingrate. My assertion is that you're losing business and revenue because of her. I saw many people that could have stayed but declined because of her attitude. Including myself. But it's your business if you want to have it ran into the ground by an employee who doesn't give a shit that's fine. Maybe she's the owners wife... I don't know. But after I had words with her she ran and blabbed to another customer about me... this can never be....this (in a service environment) is automatic grounds for termination. It's not that I want her to lose her job, it's just that I want to be treated as a person. If she's got an axe to grind take it up with somebody else.....not me who is just trying to get a cold beer and a bite to eat. This is my neighborhood spot... it is natural that I should come here, but if I get treated like this I won't ever be back. I don't think She cares but you should... I am available for consult if you would care to improve.

Nice outdoor seating, comfortable social distancing for COVID times. Great selection of beer. Dog friendly.

We always feel unwelcome here. After 4 times of the same, it's a wrap for us. Today was the last straw. Unless you fit the description of their "ideal patrons" in WV, you'll feel the same. But they love to take our $$$--bc it looks the same as the "ideal patrons." We are so done!

The chicken pesto flatbread was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Huge beer list! Must go!

A gem for wv! Only advice is to replace current lighting with warm can lighting. The lights are not relaxing. The warm rustic wood decor would be complimented by warm lighting. Thanks for providing WV with a much needed wine and beer go-to!
