Google
I would consider public house an elevated meat and three type place which I like since we don’t have anything like that in town. We have always made reservations and get seated immediately. The staff has always been top notch as well. The bar makes a great drinks always the old fashions and they are great. For apps the pimento cheese and fried pickles are amazing but the bbq carrots and ranch are next level! I am a vegetarian so I always order the vegetable plate and everything is Fresh and good and not heavy or drenched in butter. For dessert always get the carrot cake and love it.

Google
Excellent place for drinks and dinner. The staff is friendly too. Ate here two nights in a row. First night we had a reservation. But arrived 45 minutes early and they happily seated us right away. The next night we didn’t have reservations, but they found us room in the bar lounge. The pot roast was delectable, and you can’t compete with their shoe string fries!

Excellent food and service! Upon the recommendation of a local librarian and a bartender at the Read House, I walked over to the Public House Restaurant. My server, Ryishia, was attentive and wonderful. She even talked about books with me. The deviled eggs appetizer, the roast beef, and the praline carrot cake were all delicious. Additional notes: Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the main course. I had a gift card for the dessert.

Google
Wonderful experience! We dined here two weeks ago but I’m late to write a review! We had dinner here on a Tuesday evening and we were immediately greeted by one of the managers at the door. We were seated by the window and taken care of by John. We were visiting from out of state and John did an amazing job in recommending all courses and drinks! He hit the nail on the head on every recommendation. Their sangria was phenomenal and their cocktails were amazing. The most memorable side for us was the Mac and cheese! Great experience and we will absolutely be back when we come back for our wedding in October!

Google
Everything was very good, staff was attentive, engaging and knowledgeable, the food was well-prepared, and good portion size, (the plating was a bit disjointed, making the portions looked smaller). A solid service! A bit more cohesiveness and creativity in the dishes would have earned 5 stars.

Google
Their salmon was WILDLY bland, as were the potatoes that came with. Fix your prices if that's the quality you're delivering. The potato soup was good and the others I ate with were happy with their meals; just don't do the salmon and you may have a better experience than I had. I'm thankful they had salt at the table.

Google
We spent the weekend in Chattanooga and had a wonderful dinner on the patio Saturday evening. The atmosphere was great, the service was attentive, and the food arrived in perfect timing. Everything we ordered was outstanding! The Cobb salad was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the pimento burger did not disappoint. Don’t skip the deviled eggs — they were a delicious starter. The cocktails were just as impressive. I had an Espresso Martini and a Lemon Drop, both perfectly crafted, and the Old Fashioned was spot on. Highly recommend this spot — we’ll definitely be back!

Google
My wife and I stopped in here for lunch on our stay in Chattanooga and I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was really good, I mean better than most places you'd go for lunch. The service and atmosphere were there to match the quality of the food. Our waiter John did a great job. Attentive, but not bothersome. We had a great lunch, enjoyed some local beer and sangria and left fat and happy. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone wanting to spend a little more to get a lot more from a meal.

Yelp
While we've generally had enjoyable food at Public House, my wife tried the marinated mushroom sandwich and found it quite disappointing. Boring button mushrooms, skimpy on the roasted red peppers, bread too toasted. One of the few vegetarian options on the menu definitely needs improvement.

Yelp
Last night we were starving, and ready to eat! This was the second restaurant we tried to go to at 7pm on a Friday and they were able to get us seated immediately. Thankfully, we ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and they were brought to us within a few minutes. We also got cranberry lime mules, along with the pot roast and Cobb salad. Everything was sooo good! Our salad was supposed to have boiled eggs on it but didn't, but that was the only thing wrong! I loved the ranch - best restaurant ranch I have ever had. The inside has a nice vibe and they dimmed the lights, which I like for a dinner atmosphere. Service was quick, and the girls at the hostess stand were so nice.

Yelp
This place is caddy corner from my Chattanooga Office where I just finished conducting internal training for a group and it had good Yelp reviews. I was sat at the corner patio table facing Market Street and 12th. My server provided water and told me about their daily specials. All Elite reviews showed 3 meals; Cobb salad with fried chicken, fried chicken or the braised pot roast which all looked tasty. I decided to go with the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and added fries because I'm from the Burgh and fries always go on a salad! I asked for the herb lemon dressing on the side. To drink I sipped an AP w/ unsweetened tea while I watched traffic! The fries were shoe string thin and were hot and crispy. They made an excellent add to the Cobb salad. The Cobb salad came with 2 grilled chicken tenders, a pile of thick cut bacon chunks. Avocado, blue cheese, sliced cherry tomatoes, 2 deviled eggs, and lettuce. Although I ordered the herb lemon dressing, I decided after tasting the dressing, to have the kid that delivered my meal bring me ranch instead which he did. The ranch was tasty on the salad. All the ingredients in the Cobb salad went together with the ranch very well. The quality of food. proximity from my office and the patio comfort will make this a frequent stop for me when I am visiting my Chattanooga Team. Cheers!

Yelp
Wow! A complete surprise and great experience. We were driving home from a trip up north and with dinner time approaching we went looking to find a good meal in the area. We didn't have a reservation. Being a Monday evening we were hoping any restaurant could accommodate us. Public House came through. We were sat immediately. Nice restaurant on the inside. Please note that there is various paid parking in the area. I believe that they can validate parking. Our waiter was very good and attentive. So was the rest of the team as they regularly checked in on us and supported each other. We shared the pork belly appetizer which was very good. My wife got the trout and I ordered the pot roast. The pot roast was great. But the trout was incredible. Super fresh. Huge piece of fish cooked perfectly. Together, we couldn't finish it. Unfortunately, we were traveling and couldn't bring it with us. I wish we had a restaurant like this near us Great job. Definitely would consider stopping again if we are in the area again.

Yelp
As a Chattanooga local, Public House has been our go to for consistent great food and friendly service for many years! An ideal place for an intimate dinner date with your sweetheart, or family and friends larger gatherings. The private dining Oak room is also a wonderful place to host smaller special gatherings. Also hands down the best fried chicken in town!!!
google avatar

Jordan C.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite meals this year. Everything was phenomenal- especially the chicken. The place itself was cute and easy to get to from our hotel. Highly recommend the Caesar salad and anything with chicken on the menu! If we were local, we'd definitely be back!

Yelp
We were seated outside immediately without reservations. The server was helpful with recommendations and broke the tie between scallops or quail. He recommended the quail and it was a good choice! We also had the deviled eggs for an app and they were tasty. I ordered the salmon and my hubs ordered the trout. Both were amazing and the trout was a huge piece of fish. Very good delicious food.
google avatar

Yelp
Service and food was fantastic! The house salad is a big portion, but was really good. The pot roast and corn bread were also delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 10/10! Everything we ordered was phenomenal. The Sautéed Carolina Trout was perfectly seasoned & cooked to perfection (the size was even enough to share). The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. Our Veggie Platter had roasted beets & goat cheese (I was feeling brave to try something new & it did not disappoint!) The spiced cabbage & bacon was delicious and the macaroni shells & cheese was unforgettable. Service: WONDERFUL! Hosts & servers were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Ambiance: Splendid! The vibe of this place was amazing! We sat outside and still felt the "local farm to table" vibe.

Yelp
This place is incredible. The service is top notch and the ambiance incredible. We had the cornbread with sorghum butter as an appetizer. I highly recommend. I had a small plate quail with cheese grits. The quail was deboned, stuffed and cooked to perfection. My wife had shrimp and grits. They were juicy and tasty as well. I do wish they had a larger draft beer selection as I am not really a hard liquor person. Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
10/10..... I would have to say if I lived in the area I would be here often. Absolutely top! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Food was great. Temp and taste was spot on. The roast was amazing and seasoned well. Our waiter was great and knew the menu well. It's a great spot for a date night or just to get some good food. I will definitely be back next time we are in town. A local gem for sure.

Yelp
They stir my grits the right way. Slap me and call me Betty! Keep it coming.Sweet Tea and syrup!

Yelp
Our party of four enjoyed the experience. The food was great, the prices were very reasonable. My son Ordered the shrimp and grits which was incredible. I ordered the wine braised pot roast & mash which was delicious with much larger portions than I was expecting. I'll go again for sure. Friendly wait staff.

Yelp
There is nothing bad to say about the public house. Always good always dependable, it's Food as top-notch. The servers are treated as an integral part of the restaurant success therefore, they offer great service. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy. Nice, clean and efficiently laid out. The bar area common known as the SOCIAL. The bartenders are friendly and you can always get a quick bite while in that environment I would highly recommend the public house. When my folks come to town that's one of their number one picks
google avatar

Yelp
Quality food and prompt service. Shrimp and Grits were nicely seasoned with plenty of shrimp and andouille sausage. 5 beer at happy hour. Not a lot going on in this part of Chattanooga, so this is a good option.

Yelp
My wife and I met my mom and her friend here for lunch. This food and service was absolutely wonderful. Nicholas was our server. He was friendly, helpful, patient, and prompt. Highly recommend him as your server. Our table had the deviled eggs and cornbread along with Cobb salads and the fish sandwich (blackened swordfish). There is nothing here that I wouldn't recommend. Every single thing was delicious! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. Very well decorated and a nice place that isn't loud. It is perfect ambiance for enjoying conversations with family or friends.

Yelp
I come here almost every year. I've celebrated birthdays here more than a few times. I'm not from TN but make it a point to stop here when I'm visiting. The other day I came for NYE dinner and was told we couldn't move our 6:15 reservation to later since they were completely booked, which was odd, given all the empty tables. I also requested we sat inside and they put us outside. Food was by far the worst I've ever had. Nothing was seasoned properly so make sure you have salt and pepper on your table. The green beans were definitely stale. Just a lot of mess ups. Really disappointed in how much money we spent and the quality of the food that night. Won't be returning here.
google avatar

Dorothy S.

Yelp
Food was light and delicious, nicely presented, not greasy. We had cat fish, and not a bone to be found, grits were creamy and gently seasoned, cabbage was ... good, different with a hint of heat. Good service. Clean, well priced.... The cat fish was light, flatly, and best I have ever had.

Yelp
The food, beverage and dining experience were stellar! Our server Mr. Nick was very knowledgeable. He gave several recommendations of menu items that were delicious! He was super attentive. He has a hospitable presence that I haven't seen in years. He did not rush us. He practiced silent refills, prebussing and had a table greeting unlike any other. I highly recommend him as your server and this restaurant!

Nathan C.

Yelp
The food was amazing and our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes. Great looking restaurant and fun vibe. Will be returning.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome staff. They catered my Christmas, and were spectacular. Parking chaos makes it a fun adventure!

Yelp
We were in Chattanooga for the evening, and were very happy with our dinner here! Everything we ordered was great, and the atmosphere was very nice. This is definitely a great stop!

Yelp
Outstanding food and service. The Cobb salad with their homemade tenders was out of this world. Very cute southern restaurant with great flavors.

Yelp
We were in Chattanooga for the day (Saturday) and went to Public House for lunch after spending some time at the river side. It was a really hot day and I was glad that we had a booking The food was fantastic and we got a great cocktail as well. We had two appetisers (Spicy Thai Chicken and the Fried Okra) and three mains (Fried Chicken, Grilled Pork and Grilled Chicken). The food was great though we would loved more sauce with the Pork Lou Tharp and his team went over and above!! I left behind my sunglasses at the restaurant and realised I had done so when I was back at Atlanta. I called Lou and he very kindly arranged to have it mailed to me in California!! Thank you Lou & team!!

Yelp
I recently had dinner at the Public House, and it was wonderful. There was 4 of us and we didn't have reservations but after about a 15-minute wait, we got a table. The place is very nice and looks like it should have a dress code but doesn't (at least I hope not). Our waiter was prompt and cordial. I ordered the Whoville Mule for my cocktail. It contained Vodka, Pomegranate, Lime, Ginger Beer. So good. I believe it was one of their holiday drinks so not available all year. We started with the pimento cheese dish and the deviled eggs. Recommend both. I ordered the pot roast. Served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The roast was very tender and flavorful. I recommend trying it. My friend ordered the cobb salad, and it was huge. Enough for at least two people to share. Dessert looked good but was too full to order. Maybe next time. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Went for my dad's birthday tonight and everything was beyond perfect ! Our waitress was amazing as well :)

Yelp
I always come to visit for happy hour. I knew to Chattanooga so I'm usually by myself and will eat at the bar. This is such a comfortable environment. The bar tenders are nice and the food is always good. The fried chicken is amazing. Oddly enough, they have the best carrots ever. Regardless of what I get, I always order their carrots, I'll add pictures later
google avatar

Greta Z.

Yelp
This place is really cute but much smaller than I expected. They don't have but a few booths, and their chairs are pretty uncomfortable. It's not a place I would consider cozying up for a while, but it's good for a fancy-ish date night. The prices were reasonable for this kind of place, and you could easily choose to share several small plates instead of a main. The cornbread was pretty but not to my southern-girl standard. The deviled eggs were very good but not the best I've had. The burgers and fries were only okay. The pot roast tasted great, and I absolutely loved the smoky pork with grits and apple chutney. The peanut butter pie was unusual in texture but tasted indulgent and looked very appealing. The coffee was nice. Our server was plenty attentive without drawing attention. I would definitely go again, happily; it just didn't make my list of top Chattanooga experiences.

Yelp
We had a party of 4 that went for dinner on NYE. Restaurant was busy but we received great service. Our server recommended some specialty cocktails which we enjoyed. We had the pimento cheese with fried pickles and the "yankee cornbread" both were large and delicious. Entrees were great portion and all were great. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
The food and service are A+! Julia was our server and did everything perfectly! It was our 42nd anniversary and we had a card and $10 off our next visit . We live in Nashville but will come back probably next year and eat at The Public House. The appetizers of deviled eggs and fresh trout dip were amazing! Julia told us they smoke the trout here! I had the braised pot roast and my husband had the pork tenderloin with grits and warm beets and goat cheese. Then we had dessert to go because we were too full. Dessert was a gift to us! I highly recommend you come here when in Chattanooga!
google avatar

Anisha D.

Yelp
The fried green tomatoes is a must have in my opinion. The sandwich was okay. But the fries were amazing! Some of the most crispiest fries I hv had. A bit overpriced for the food, but worth a try! The ambiance is great for a date night.
google avatar

Kellie S.

Yelp
Highly recommend the pimento cheese! The roast was really good but had a bit too much fat imo. The atmosphere and service was top notch. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
Great location, conveniently located in the "adult;)" section of Chattanooga. For all of my bar people, theirs won't disappoint. Great food selection and ambience.

Yelp
I was very impressed with my meal at Public House. I opted for the pot roast and it was excellent--tender, flavorful, and those mashed potatoes! Vegetables and sauce was on point. I added a side of mac and cheese and--seriously, some of the best mac and cheese I've had in a restaurant (maybe ever). Our table also tried a few appetizers. The cornbread is good as is the pimento cheese. The fried pickles are terrific. They also have some really great cocktail options and serve them in fantastic stem ware--just nice touches. For example, I ordered a Manhattan and it arrived in a stem glass with a sidecart rocks glass of ice cold water which contained the rest of the pour in a mini-decanter. The Manhattan was stout and flavorful and twice the size of most places. The best value cocktail I've had in a nice restaurant in a long time. Our service was great and the ambience here is solid to great. I'd definitely dine here again if/when I'm back in the area!

Shawn M.

Yelp
Cool elevated patio and spot to get some sun. The Cobb salad was good just wished it had more chicken.

Yelp
Wow! This is our second time here. The first several years ago. What an amazing restaurant! Both time the food and service was fabulous. We stopped in here for an early dinner before a concert. We got reservations which are needed here at this popular spot! We started the evening with their seasonal sangria. It was sweet but very refreshing. For starters we got the spicy chicken bites. They were phenomenal! So tasty. And the deviled eggs. The filling was super soft and yummy. For dinner my wife got the Salmon and I got the Cobb Salad. Wow what a huge salad! It had 3 large fried chicken tenders, half an avocado and 2 more of the deviled eggs on it! It was fresh and very good! Service what great. Super cool place to eat in the Nooga. We will be back for sure!

Bob D.

Yelp
First time in Chattanooga and we picked the Public House to eat lunch at due to the great reviews. Walking up to the restaurant it looked sort of blah but once inside it was very cozy. The staff was great and offered a free dessert since it was our anniversary. My wife and I both had the chicken and rice soup which was fantastic. We shared the deviled eggs and the meat and cheese board. The eggs had a nice tang to them and the meat and cheese board were also excellent. I would highly recommend Public House. Also, I thought the prices were very reasonable. We were too full to take advantage of the dessert.
google avatar

Linda I.

Yelp
The service was great. The hosts were friendly and attentive. Our server was great. She was very kind and took a great care of us. My husband's burger was delicious. It was cool as requested, has a lot of flavor and not too dry. It came with shoe string fries though and they're just too thin to our liking. I ordered the pot roast and it was lacking flavor and dry. If you compared to other people's pictures of the pot roast, mine looks like it lacks sauce. The peanut butter pie was delicious, rich and is a good portion. The place feels cozy with moderate level of noise. You can still make conversation but has to speak kinda loud. You get 3 hours complimentary parking with validation at the parking garage across the street.

Bella H.

Yelp
Food was delicious as always and my server John was super knowledgable and provided great service ! Always am recommending this place to others as it is one of my favorite spots in Chattanooga
google avatar

Yelp
I went after an event on a rainy day. Sat at the bar. Parking is free for the first two hours. There were two people working the bar area. It took a little time to get their attention. The woman came and got my drink order. Which was the Rosemarys Baby (non-alcoholic). They came back and got my order which was fried tomatoes and the fried chicken with Mac and cheese. The tomatoes were good. Liked the sauce that came with it. I am more of a white meat chicken eater and it came with two dark and one white so really only ate the breast. The Mac and cheese was good also, very flavorful. I really enjoyed the Rosemarys Baby. If you aren't much of a drinker, check it out. The people were friendly. Chatted at the bar which was cool. Nice atmosphere. Clearly they have regulars. Will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The lunch menu offers an excellent variety of "comfort foods" at a reasonable price. Dinner is a different story, price wise. Our party selected four different dishes and all were above average. The dessert was the highlight! The only qualification is that the portions aren't huge, which was fine for lunch
google avatar

Collin L.

Yelp
Amazing food and ambiance, such a fun southern restaurant with great service and even better food. Will often bring friends from out of town here as it tends to be a safe option that everyone loves
google avatar

Alissa W.

Yelp
Nice place we stopped in for dinner. The food seem to be all homemade started out with the cornbread. It was a little bit dry for my liking then have a nice house salad for my entrée. I got the vegetable platter I was able to pick for homemade vegetables, they were excellent. They even marked the ones that do not have meat in them, my daughter had a kids entrée for nine dollars which included an appetizer a meal aside and a cookie at the end that she said was amazing. Service was excellent.

Debra D.

Yelp
A beautiful establishment. We all enjoyed our food. Service was a little slow, but not horrible.
google avatar

Ken R.

Yelp
Many GF options. I had a lot roast, garlic green beans, and zucchini noodles. The pot roast meat was extremely tender.

Brandi Barker ..

Yelp
Food was just ok. Ambience decent. Friendly waiter but not as personable as other restaurants
google avatar

Dee Y.

Yelp
Had dinner at Public House while in town for a meeting. The location is very cute and loved the green accent wall across from brick walls. So the food... I ordered the pot roast with mash potatoes. The meat was so tender and flavorful. There was a light gravy (more like meat drippings) that was delicious but I could have used a bit more for my potatoes. I loved that the roasted veggies were on the side (celery, onions, and carrots). Not a huge celery fan but the carrots and onions were a nice addition! The portion size was plentiful and I wish I had space to try the carrot cake. Next time! The two women I was with ordered the fried chicken with beets (that looked delicious) and the pot roast but with grits along with a salad. Definitely a place I would return to try other menu items.
google avatar

Yelp
We were seated promptly, however our server took 10 minutes to greet us. A table seated next to us were greeted, got drinks and cornbread before we were even greeted. We ordered appetizers and I was very clear we wanted them first, however our entrees arrived 5 minutes after. My wedge salad was okay, very basic. My fried chicken was barely warm and very dry. The Mac&Cheese was warm, not hot. The biscuit served was very soggy. The food is very overrated, seems to be all premade/ precooked sitting under heat warmers. Our waiter wore black sneakers that were literally falling apart with huge holes in them, you could see his socks. What kind of management would allow that? I could not recommend this establishment.
google avatar

Mountain Jo S.

Yelp
OMG.... First time here. We want to go back so much! We both had the red wine braised roast beef and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. We had drinks first and they were so delicious. Our waiter was so cool and friendly. Can't remember his name, but he was fantastic.
