Let me start off by saying, I would not have been nearly as disappointed were this place not hyped up to be more than it is and if they hadn't compared themselves to the worlds top chocolatiers. For one, the size of these bombons are ridiculous. Make it bite sized as any self respecting chocolatier would. Most of these bombons were big enough to serve three people. Secondly, the chocolate outside is claimed to be 70 percent chocolate. Not sure what that meant but the chocolate was far too sweet, even for a lover of sweets. I love chocolate and had high expectations for the taste, again by Puccini's own catergorization of their chocolate being as good as the top chocolatiers in the world. I have had Valrhona, Pierre Marcolini, Le Maison du Chocolat, Neuhaus, among many many more. There is a certain level of art and understanding to make world class chocolate. Having bought the biggest box from here with 20 different bombons for 55 euros, I can say I gave Puccini's a more than fair chance. Every flavor of bombon has an overly creamy and sweet center, somewhat lacking in the flavor they are said to be. The marzipan filled ones were the saving grace. Most chocolatiers make the center of the chocolates with a chocolate/ganache flavored infusion, not massive amounts of cream. I understand this is a different recipe but that simply doesn't qualify it as good. To summarize my complaints: the chocolates are too big (quantity doesn't make up for the quality), the chocolate itself is too sweet and not tasty, the filling is overly sweet, creamy and honestly inedible, and for the product produced here it is far too expensive. I do not recommend this to people who appreciate truly good chocolate aside from the marizpan filled bombons! Better off making the 3 hour drive to Brussels and visiting the true top chocolatiers in the world.
