"This huge property comprising two towers—the River Wing and the Grand Tower—showcases Huangpu River views from its position by the riverside promenade. The Grand Tower, designed by New York–based Kohn Pedersen Fox, features 375 rooms and suites, while the more classic River Wing has 577 rooms. High-style restaurants and bars sit between the two. Rooms have crystal chandeliers and a mural of Chinese flowers above the bed. The Gallery, in the Grand Tower, exhibits paintings and sculptures from up-and-coming artists, which rotate each quarter."

I would like to sincerely commend the Concierge team at Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai for their outstanding service and professionalism. The entire team is incredibly supportive, cooperative, and patient, always going above and beyond what is expected. They consistently provide services that exceed expectations and are always willing to help with anything, whether inside the hotel or around Shanghai. A special thank you to William, the Concierge Team Leader. I had a couple of situations that required extra attention, and he handled everything extremely well with great care, efficiency, and professionalism. His support truly made a difference during my stay. In addition, the hotel services are excellent, and the location is very convenient as it is right next to a mall, making everything easily accessible and comfortable. Service & hospitality greatly enhanced my experience. Highly recommended🙏🏻✨

Oh my god, I celebrated my birthday at this hotel and it was unforgettable. They prepared everything so beautifully for me. When I walked into the room, I genuinely felt like I had gone back 30 years — like I was a 10-year-old little girl again. It was phenomenal.||The room was stunning, and the view was just wow. The dining, food, and room service were all very good, and the staff were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. And honestly, the location feels like one of the best spots in all of Shanghai.

Good location, but overall experience was disappointing (3 stars). 1. Check-in The mobile check-in was problematic. The system failed to recognize my pre-payment, which was already double the booking price due to the deposit. The front desk requested another payment, which would have resulted in quadruple charges. Only after intervention was my payment verified. This defeated the purpose of mobile check-in, which should provide convenience rather than stress. 2. Language barrier Several staff members, including the concierge, struggled with English. I often had to rely on a translation app, making communication inconvenient and frustrating. 3. Playground opened on weekends only. NOTE: Sunday is considered as working day in China as per the receptionist?! 4. Swimming pool incident This was the most disappointing experience. On our first day, I visited the pool area to check the amenities. I showed my room card but I was not asked to swipe it, as I explained I was only viewing. The next day, I returned with my mother-in-law so she could also see the amenities. Despite showing my room card, staff insisted that entry required swiping. The exchange felt unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful, leaving us feeling more like intruders than guests. The confrontation lasted longer than the actual visit. For reference, this happened on 4 January 2026 around 4 PM. I was staying in room 1815, river wing.

Really like the Xmas decorations everywhere in the hotel and its surroundings. The room is clean and bed is comfy. Our room was facing the side view of the pearl tower and the city. Hotel is located next to IFC and super brand mall. Many Nice restaurants and cafes around us too. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

One of the most enchanting hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived at Pudong Shangri-La, I was welcomed with elegance and warmth. The view of The Bund from my room was simply breathtaking — a perfect blend of old Shanghai charm and modern skyline beauty. The service was world-class, every staff member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. The breakfast buffet at Yi Café was a highlight — so many global flavors, all fresh and beautifully presented. After a day of exploring the city, returning to the calm serenity of the hotel felt like coming home. If you’re visiting Shanghai and looking for a place that captures both luxury and soul — this is it. I would return again and again without hesitation.

The location of the hotel is good close proximity to Shanghai tower, Breakfast provided is very good, Room was comfortable and had a fabulous view of the river and city. Worth choosing a Club Access room.||Disliked · The issue I have, is one I find in all non English speaking countries, hotels want international travelers but they continually fall down when employing staff for front of house positions who have little or poor English understanding. In the case of Shangri-La most staff I interacted with had no English understanding and I found myself having to walk around and find an employee who understood english. Aside from this I would stay again

This hotel can easily be counted among the Top 5 hotels in Shanghai in terms of location. It’s the Shangri-La Hotel — the one you always see when looking across the Bund towards the Pudong skyline. The location is outstanding. Just across the street is the massive IFC Mall, which houses nearly every luxury brand you can imagine. The mall is directly connected to Line 2 of the metro, making it very convenient to get anywhere in the city. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and decorated in a classic style, which made my stay very pleasant. The view from the room was absolutely stunning and unforgettable. On the downside, most of the staff had difficulty communicating in English. Only a few were able to speak English, so conversations were sometimes challenging. Also, the food at the first-floor lobby lounge was not very good. Still, thanks to the unbeatable location and the incredible view, I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai. Overall, a very satisfying hotel experience.

I’d recommend staying in this hotel. The location is super convenient. Surroundings are some of the popular destinations. There are few malls around to go shopping, restaurants and coffee shops. The breakfast is great, huge variety of options. Room service was also amazing, delicious and it was also delivered within 30 minutes. The room is clean and spacious. And my room had a great view as well.
