"Puerto Rico is an island of talented artists and artisans. You can explore and discover the best of Puerto Rican craftsmanship in this store. The shelves are full of stunning crafts made by the best of Puerto Rican masters. Among the many pieces, the store offers a fair collection of saint carvings, wood prints, and clay and copper jewelry. Local coffee, rum, hot sauces and cookies are also available. Overall it is a delight to visit the store if you are interested in learning more about local arts and crafts." - Ana Jovane Serrano

"Travelers who love beautiful, locally made souvenirs, and who are concerned about their ethical sourcing, will want to stop by this shop in Old San Juan. Its inventory is composed entirely of goods that are made by Puerto Rican artisans and craftspeople; both the artists and objects sold arecertified by the government. Look for the island’s traditional crafts, including vejigante masks and carved figurines called santos , which Catholic missionaries carried with them during the colonial era as ministerial storytelling tools. Puerto Rico is also known for its beautiful landscape paintings and woodblock prints."

Google
Got many special souvenirs here. I appreciated that there was info about some of the artists next to where their goods were sold. Found so many beautiful handcrafted items and a piece of art I love and plan to frame. The folks working here were helpful in answering questions and carefully packaged everything at checkout. If only I had more space to take more home!

Google
this shop is such a gem!! i was so amazed to see so many beautiful items that were all handmade by local artists (none of that mass produced “made in china” stuff you’ll get at your typical souvenir shop). i talked to one of the staff members and they told me that this shop is family owned and operated, and that even locals shop here to find one-of-a-kind handcrafted items! i bought a beautiful bracelet and a gorgeous ceramic mug. this shop inspires me to get back into my artsy hobbies & create beautiful things!

Puerto Rican Art and Crafts A gem of a location for things Puerto Rican. From vejigante masks to paintings, to cultural items, food items, quality Puerto Rican flags, to coffee and much more. The staff members are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are patient and very helpful. They took the time to answer questions and worked with each other to help get information. The prices are very reasonable. They ship as well. For those that are carrying their items with them, they are very careful to pack the item well. I went in several similar stores just down the road and there is no comparison in price, extensiveness of merchandise and friendliness of the staff.

My goal was to find pottery by local Puerto Rican artists and this wonderful shop had all that and much more. There is so much and the prices are very reasonable. The lady at the counter took such good care of us and wrapped my purchase up with so many layers. I don’t even have to worry about it breaking with travel. If you are in San Juan looking for local art, this is your place!

Google
Great place. Prices very reasonable and everything made by over 80 local artisans. So much better than souvenir shops.

Google
A friend who grew up in old San Juan recommended this place, and we go here every time we visit. Almost everything in the store is made in Puerto Rico and most of the items in the store are made by local artists and crafters. They have a lot of unique items that go far beyond the typical tourist shop items. You can get t-shirts that say Puerto Rico on them, but that isn't the majority of the stock. This shop sells tons of local art of different types and in all price ranges. They also sell local alcohol, food items, jewelery and accessories, among other things. This place has great gifts for the people in your life and items you would be proud to use, wear or put on display in your home. I cannot recommend this highly enough I would give it 6 stars if I could

Yelp
This was my all time favorite gift souvenir store. The store wasn't cheap or cheesy. The artwork was definitely hand crafted and unique. Unlike what you might find in other stores with tons of copies, this store offers unique pieces. They have a variety of ceramics, jewelry, wall and table art and a few indigenous t-shirts. The atmosphere is what I like the most. The hospitality is next level. The staff is so kind and helpful. The best way I can describe the environment is piece. I'm contrast to other environments that feel tense. Even when the store is full of people is a sense of piece. It's somewhat of a spiritual experience. The prices are reasonable for what you'll find. Do NOT miss this spot if you're interested in some of the nicest art pieces at reasonable prices.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to go to in Old San Juan to purchase Puerto Rican works of art. In many cases one of a kind items. They have many options available from very affordable to very pricey. We love this place because you can always find something.

Yelp
I've been going to San Juan a lot this year for work, and I have had some time to explore the "Old San Juan" area on those trips. After popping into quite a few shops the advertise locally made items, "Puerto Rican Arts & Crafts" really stood out as being the best. I was looking specifically for a vejigante mask, and this shop as a huge selection of different types made by a variety of local artists. When I selected a few I liked, they were able to answer questions about them and also provide extensive information about the artist. If you are a mask collector, this is a great place to pick up an authentic, locally made mask (they have all sizes, from very small ones in the $10 range all the way to some that are three feet tall and cost over $1,000). However, this shop isn't just for mask collectors. They have an extremely wide range of locally made arts and crafts, and also carry many local food items like chocolate, plantain chips, hot sauces, coffee, and rums. The prices here might not be rock bottom, but authentic goods cost a bit more, so it's worth visiting this shop if that's what you want. As of May, 2022, they are still implementing health and safety protocols, including masking. They accept cash and credit cards, and will package up your items so you can get them home safely.

Yelp
Hand sanitizer at the store front with automatic body temperature detector. This store has arts everywhere including at the back that's like a gallery. They have hammock as well as local souvenirs like coffee, flavored rum, local sweets at very good prices. For example, a box of sweets is $4.99 and a big bottle of conquito is 16.99! I would hold off my urges and shop all together here. But they don't have touristy post cards.

Yelp
We walked into a lot of gift shops but this is the best. It was recommended to us by a local tour guide as well. We love buying souvenirs that are made by locals and this place had some amazing things to choose from. I bought a ceramic tile with an OSJ house painted on it and my partner bought a digital print created by a student at the local arts university.

Yelp
This store has an eclectic selection of artisanal crafts. We come here every year to buy unique gifts for close friends. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Go to this store first before you check others!!! A true gem find amongst the abundance of typical souvenir stores in Old San Juan. So, where do I begin... The family I had dinner with during my cruise is originally from Puerto Rico. Prior to docking, I had asked them in advance what would be a good souvenir to take home. They said that wall / ceramic art is a good choice, and I shouldn't have a problem finding something as they are in abundance.... True. However, all the shops I had walked into for the past two hours all appeared cheap and tacky. Until, of course, we stumbled along this place. Although I love art, I am by no means an expert. However, this store just made me feel relaxed, giddy, and calm (never used the word giddy before in anything). There was so much in there, but yet I didn't feel overwhelmed. The displays all seemed to flow. The store is clean and organized! The pieces are quality- made and prices are reasonable. And most importantly, I didn't get any pressure to buy or stinkeyes from touching stuff. If anything, my biggest regret - not arriving in this store before I had spent money at other touristy souvenir stores. My even bigger, biggest regret - should have just went with my gut and go over budget so I have more pieces at home. Arghhhh!

Yelp
This little shop is the gem! Beautiful handmade Puerto Rican items, all excellent prices. The staff was helpful and friendly, I returned there more than once on my trip. This is a must on your trip to old San Juan!

Yelp
I recently called an placed an order over the phone. Amanda, the person that took my call was very professional, she helped me by sending photos of the items that I wanted. 3 days later I received the order and was very well packed and the items were beautiful. Thanks Amanda and PR art and Craft!

Yelp
I'm originally from PR, but live in GA, and every time I return home to visit family I always have to stop at this very shop to pick up some beautiful local art work. This is by far the best shop for local art work in San Juan. You don't have to worry about anything being "Made in China" here! Everything is "Hecho en Puerto Rico"!

Yelp
You can treat this place as an art gallery and browse and admire the beautiful pieces by many Puerto Rican artists without the pressure of sales people. Or you can buy unique, well made souvenirs for your family that you will not find in any other stores and for a reasonable price. I upped my budget a little bit and bought a very nice hand made ceramic piece for my personal enjoyment. You simply can not go wrong at this store!

Yelp
Lovely selection of arts and crafts of Puerto Rico, so much so that my boyfriend fell in love with a $400 painting. His family is from Puerto Rico and he really wanted to support local art and artists. But buyer Beware! If you fall in love with a piece of art with glass on it, the manager is unwilling to ship it and that is the store policy per several employees. (We went back three times to ask because my boyfriend adored the piece) The piece was too big for a carry on, we offered to buy without the frame and assume the cost of the frame ourselves so we could take it rolled up with us. And we offered to buy the piece with the frame without the glass (assuming the cost to replace the glass at home ourselves) so it could be shipped and the manager again said no. He said the glass would be useless to him without the frame and declined the opportunity to make the sale of the artist's painting and the opportunity to make two would be customers happy. Disappointed, especially since every other shop has been so accommodating to customers.

Yelp
Very cool artwork from jewelry to magnets to wall art. Great staff, and its a wonderful place to pick up some truly beautiful and authentic souvenirs. Reasonable pricing, only problem is that its hard to pick what you want!

Yelp
An awesome little store if you're in downtown San Juan. We stop in every visit to by trinkets and even some larger decorative items to commemorate our trip. Lots of beautiful pieces at reasonable prices. Make sure you have them wrap everything well for the flight home.

Yelp
I have visited this store a few times during my stops in San Juan. I like it, and have purchased a few items form here. I think that it is always a good thing to support local artists in your community as well as communities you might be visiting, and this store has alot of artists in one local, which is nice. There are also many pieces from artists located in other places within PR, which is nice. It's a one stop shop for local!! Previously I had gotten some rock carvings. This time I got a really nice wood carving of a pelican for my mother. She really liked it, and it was very nice and reasonably priced! I would certainly recommend stopping in this shop if you are looking for a unique piece or a unique souvenir (or gift)

Yelp
Worth a stop! We picked up several souvenirs and they have a good selection of paintings.

Yelp
This place is an awesome find and a great break from the generic tourist shops that crowd the streets of Old San Juan. Great selection of local art from a variety of local artists. We enjoyed looking at the different styles and mediums. I especially enjoyed seeing the jewelry made from sea glass. We purchased a painting on a feather of a sculpture in Old San Juan. We also purchased some small wallets and a butterfly necklace made out of coconut shell - for our friends kiddos. They also sell some books, local coffee, and chocolates. If you're in OSJ mos def check this place out.

Yelp
Lovely arts and crafts store with qualify items. Bought a canvas painting and would have happily purchased more if only I had more space in my suitcase! If buying art, it does take awhile for them to frame and/or package it. Well worth it.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
Huge selection of local artists, primarily crafts but also some nice pieces of art too.

Yelp
Fantastic selection of unique art pieces and crafts--representing the diversity of the Puerto Rican culture. It's not your regular souvenir shop because of the array of high-quality products. What was surprising to me was how inexpensive everything was. I wish I had more space in my suitcase to fit it all in.

Yelp
For authentic PR arts and crafts, this is the store to visit.

Great arts for you - check them out for your gift needs.

Yelp
Amazing selection of unique, handcrafted art, produced all in Puerto Rico by local artisans. Don't waste your time looking elsewhere for art, this place has it all. A little pricy, but you get what you pay for!

Emily D.

Yelp
Loved the large selection of original pieces. I appreciated the opportunity to find unique items that were actually made by local artists. I purchased a painting of a Flamboyan tree (which I have always wanted to own). I love it. Staff was helpful and packed my artwork with great care. I would definately recommend this store.

Yelp
Pretty cool to wander through. 2 stories to browse through. Blah blah blah blah blah blah...... No short reviews on yelp?? Can't just rate with stars without writing something?

Luis H.

Yelp
One of the best stores in Old San Juan, this store sells handmade arts and crafts produced on the island and not in some factory in China. Although prices tend to be high, the quality of the goods are worth it. I love purchasing glass art as well as carved religious art (such as the Three Kings on their mules) as these crafts can't be found anywhere else in the world. Puerto Rican 'artesanias' are world-reknowned for their attention to detail and craftmanship. If you're in Old San Juan, stop by this amazing store and support the local economy by purchasing something from this store and not something manufactured by the masses in Asia.

Sharon P.

Yelp
This shop is such a welcome relief from the tourist driven tee shirt stores and the factory outlets for name brand clothing. In PR Arts and Crafts you will find hand made items from local people as well as some fine art paintings at very reasonable prices. They have jewelry, saints, pottery and ornaments. Everything seems very affordable.
