I have been staying at Pullman G Bangkok for many years, even back when it was a Sofitel, and I always returned with pleasure, usually choosing a room or suite on the White Floors. While the rooms were never extraordinary and were essentially the old Sofitel rooms freshly painted white, there was always something quite enjoyable about staying here.
However, my recent stay from December 27 to January 4 was disappointing. The rooms are clean, but they are in very poor condition. There are marks everywhere, the mattress is old, and the chairs are so worn that you feel like you might fall through when sitting on them. The electrical outlets look outdated, and overall, the hotel is in urgent need of renovation. When I mentioned to the reception that the chair in my room was in such poor condition, the receptionist was kind enough to have another one delivered to the room, which was appreciated.
The consistent positives are the location and the staff. Everyone – from housekeeping and the front desk to the restaurants, pool, and concierge – is friendly, attentive, and willing to help. That part of the experience remains excellent.
That said, it is unfortunate that after so many stays, regular guests are not recognized. No special consideration or perks are offered, which is disappointing. The hotel feels very dated, and given the condition of the rooms, I believe we will be choosing a different hotel for our next Bangkok stay.
