I really expected more from a hotel branded as a 5-star. First of all, the lobby was so underwhelming. Nothing luxurious or welcoming about it, just plain and outdated.
There are 6 lifts, but only 3 were working during my stay, and all of them looked extremely old and dodgy. Not something you’d expect from a hotel charging 140 AUD per night.
I was told my room had been upgraded to a higher floor. Sure, I got the view, but once I stepped out of the lift and saw the hallway, I was already horrified. The entire floor looked so old-school and poorly maintained. Then I walked into the room and it didn’t get any better. The room looked nothing like the photos online. The wooden floors were scratched and worn, the walls were dirty, and the overall design just felt outdated and tired. Definitely not what you’d expect for the price.
Even basic things were missing. There were no charging ports near the bedside tables, only one all the way at the desk. The bathroom looked just as tired. There was moisture buildup on the walls, the vents were dirty, and everything just felt run-down.
What really shocked me was that they charge you if you want to use cutlery, unless you order food from them. For a supposedly premium hotel, that felt absurd.
Overall, this place is not worth the price or the Pullman name. I would not stay here again.
