Pumbas Backpackers

Pretoria was a place we wanted to visit. The place is walking distance to the train and malls, university etc. The location for us was great. The cabins are really cozy, and if you come when it's cold, get ready to wrap up. great staff and super helpful when unexpected powercut happened during morning. :) It's a spacious place. Great for a few nights :)

Great little place. Very relaxing with outdoor seating areas, a pool, communal kitchen, lounge and bathrooms/showers. Gives off a mini bush lodge vibe, which is a very welcome change from the busy and bustling city that surrounds it. The cabins that you stay in are nicely set up and cozy. Overall, I'd say I would definitely come back here again if the need arose.

This accommodation is situated in one of the most convenient locations(Hatfield) in Pretoria whilst also being able to stay at an affordable price for almost all solo backpack travellers. I have found the establishment to generally be a safe place to spend my time at as well. There is a fast Wi-Fi signal of which I assume is fibre as I got speed ratings of almost half a gigabit during my stay when the electricity was available. The showers and toilets are always clean and there is always an availability of warm water when the need to shower arises even during Loadshedding times. The accommodation doesn't however have a backup power solution but at the accommodation price I can't complain at all. The wooden cabins in which we stayed in were quite cold especially during the winter nights. Fortunately there are plug sockets as well as desk lamps to keep the area lit and to power any appliances that you might decide to bring along for your stay. The blankets provided are merely adequate so do remember to bring extra blankets if possible especially if you are planning to stay in the winter. The food options are also very filling and delicious if you do decide to opt for their catering service. My overall impressions of this accommodation are quite good as I had no issues whatsoever regarding the quality of the service and food. I had a comfortable stay on a budget for 2 consecutive years, within the same time period with no problems. 👍😊

Had a great experience staying at pumbas! It has an amazing vibe with a real homey feel. Mario, janice, maria and emmanuel were always friendly and always willing to help. The facilities are up to standard and more than enough for what you need to stay comfortable. Its located so central but still safe that its just the obvious choice to stay. We were a sports team staying there and we had an amazing time! I would recommend them again and again

Terrible experience. Was robbed of my ps6 on the premises under a camera that was not recording? And the manager, Mario sitting managing the monitor didn't see the reg... Valuable 2023 Mcclaren jacket also stolen from my room! Stay away. I asked for their phone to call police. Was told to use my phone even after I told Mario my sim doesn't work!

Pumbas Backpackers is one of few that get it right. Pumbas has a nice atmosphere, clean cabins and fantastic showers. The vibe is peaceful and eclectic. The location is also great, being near everything you need. Definitely staying there again.

Great chilled vibe with all the necessary amenities. They offer camping, free Wi-Fi, a pool, free breakfast and friendly service. Unfortunately this is in an area that has a high crime rate and they have not yet got third party insurance, and their policy on how to deal with guests who have been a victim of crime on their property is non-existent. They have also illegally held my passport. Not a place I would recommend to ANYONE. Do yourself a favour and don't take the risk of staying at this place.

The place is good just not for a big group of students because the rules were really not favoring them, they were there for an academic programme with full day of lectures and other activities the only social time they had was at night which they were unable to enjoy because of noise hours policy.
