We visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and once everyone had arrived, I asked the kind lady at the cashier if they could provide a candle. To our surprise, not only did they accommodate the request, but they also brought us a brownie with a candle—completely on the house. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and they certainly didn’t have to do it. We were genuinely touched by their kindness. Overall, the service was excellent and the staff incredibly friendly. The triple chocolate cake was absolutely divine. Thank you for making our first trip to Nepal even more special and memorable.

Good food, everything we tried was good. Also tried the chocolate chip cookie, best one I've had in Asia. We returned to try the brownie, banana bread and carrot cake. I am a carrot cake enthusiasts I don't recommend the carrot cake here, not enough flavor, maybe some cream cheese icing would improve it. Their brownie and banana bread was excellent.

If after a few weeks of having dual hat & Tibetan bread & you miss just European bread , that’s the place you should visit. My baguette tasted delicious. My cafe latte was like the one in Europe. Place not for everyday but once during your stay in Nepal! I’ll definitely safe the location!

What a haven this place is! I love that, after being stuck in Kathmandu for over a week, Pumpernickel became my morning breakfast routine. So much so that when I walked in early each morning, the staff knew just what I wanted! Just like my Aussie local. Thank you to the boys and girls of Pumpernickel, you made my stay! Also, best coffee by far in Kathmandu 💗🇳🇵

Lovely cafe vibes and great customer service. Oldest bakery in Thamel. Tried the apple pie for 350 NPR, it was very dry but I liked the filling, was interesting with the addition of sultanas which added a juicy and great textural addition within the apples chunks. however I found the pastry a little dry and crumbly, and needed water to wash it down. Would still come back and try their other items though

Pumpernickel is a really great bakery, and perfect for a nice breakfast in Thamel. You can easily order by ringing the little bell at tje table, and also work here, as the WiFi is really good. All items we tried were tasty, from the bagel with avocado, carrot cake, the croissants to the cinnamon rolls. Really outstanding was the chocolate brownie, which had the perfect consistency and simply an amazing taste. The coffee is good, with oat milk and soy option, however oat milk seems to be „out“ quite often. Only criticism I have was the orange juice, which was relatively expensive and rather sour, as the oranges used were not ready. Other than that - food, beverages, service, prices, and of course ambience - really great!

Having been here before for coffee, I decided to give their breakfast options a try. From my previous visit, I’d learned that this bakery was established in 1986 — nearly 40 years ago, making it an old classic in Kathmandu’s food scene. On a fine morning, we headed to their busy Thamel location for breakfast. We ordered the Hearty American, a Grilled Chicken Pesto Sandwich, a cappuccino, and a masala tea. The Hearty American came with a chicken sausage, bacon, an egg of choice, some veggies, two slices of brown bread, and butter/jam. Each element tasted fresh and flavorful, making for a satisfying, filling breakfast. The grilled chicken pesto sandwich was delicious too, with tender grilled chicken, caramelised onions, tomatoes, and a generous layer of pesto on their homemade ciabatta bread — though the bread was a little harder than I’d have liked. The cappuccino lived up to my expectations — easily among the best in town — while the masala tea was pleasant. Prices are on the higher side, but given the prime Thamel location and the quality offered, it feels justified. The bakery occupies an entire three-story building, with plenty of seating across floors. A solid spot for coffee, breakfast, and cakes, with a nostalgic charm and quality that has kept it going for decades.

This bakery is probably one of the oldest one in Thamel. The staff here is very professional and friendly. You can honthere with your laptop if you wanna work or just chill. A nice place for dating as well. It has different levels so you can decide wherever you wanna sit. The buttonnia available on the table which you can press in order to call the staff member. Talking about food, it was tasty and a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it. Go ahead and explore this place my fellow travelers. Cheers
